Dr. Aziz proposes a 30-day media fast: cut news and passive scrolling, use YouTube only on purpose. People report less anxiety, better focus, and time back for things that actually build confidence.

Hey, Dr. Aziz here. And I want to share in this little video a mini challenge for you that will boost your confidence dramatically. And I'm not just basing this upon my own personal experience, which I think it has, but also I've shared it with a number of clients in my mastermind group who also took on this challenge, and it helped them boost their confidence as well. And it's a little surprising, it's a little different than what you might normally think for confidence boosting stuff. But that's what I'm here to do, is share stuff that's maybe a little unusual or not what you might expect. So what is the challenge that will boost your confidence that I want you to take on for the next 30 days? 30 days, go on a media fast. A media fast. So that means you eliminate first and foremost. The first form of media that I would eliminate is news media. So limit your. So I would say totally cut off. Limit your access to the news for 30 days. So that means no news on TV, no CNN, ABC, NBC, CNBC, any of those things. And then also no news websites. And you know, maybe if you're spending a lot of time on Facebook, you can get news through Facebook too. So you might want to alter what, what you do on there as well. We'll get into that in a sec. But no news and no Twitter, because a lot of people get their news through Twitter as well. So not following the news in that way and doing that for 30 days to see what the effect is. A lot of people generate a lot of anxiety in themselves by studying and focusing on the drama of things they can't control. Who said what to who in the next political, oh my God, who offended who here? And then they said this, and then this person said that. And all the while, people are getting more and more anxious, more and more frustrated or upset at what they're watching, and they don't have any control over the situation. And you might say, no, Aziz, I have to pay attention to what's going on in the world. Well, for 30 days, is the world going to fall apart if you're not watching every next move? And then after 30 days, after you've cleaned up yourself, then you can decide, okay, where do I want to get news from? How much time per day do I want to spend doing that? Because what you're going to do in the 30 day fast is you're going to eliminate the compulsive need to just check it. And a lot of us are just checking it to get away from our Feelings to get some sort of drama in our lives. And my goal for you is that if you go on this fast and you don't do it, then all of a sudden, maybe at first you feel anxious or tense or uncomfortable or whatever, but then after you stop jonesing for your dopamine fix of getting some rush of entertainment or interest that we guys as intelligence, like, I'm so smart because I'm watching the news. No, it's a political drama. It's just energy. It's like, ooh, that's exciting. Did you hear what so and so said to so and so? Right? It's the same thing. It's just this thinking man or the thinking woman's soap opera. And so when you remove that and then you get through that little jitter phase, what's going to happen is some space is going to open up in your consciousness, in your focus and your awareness. Then where are you going to put that? What are you going to do with it? So it's not just the time you spend looking at media, but it clouds your awareness and your focus. But now it's going to get clear. Maybe you could focus on something. Maybe you could build something. Maybe you could be studying something that's really going to serve you in your life, whether it's for your business or your confidence or your relationships. Maybe you could really just be taking in information and media that is really serving you. So that's the benefit of the media. Fast. Now you want to take it further. I would extend it to minimizing or eliminating or just using, with very intentional focus, Facebook and other forms of social media. So it's like, when am I going on there and what am I doing on there? As opposed to like, oh, I have two minutes waiting in the store line, scrolling the feed. What's that? How is it? Where's my hit? Right? So instead be like, oh, yeah, I will check my Facebook messages and respond to certain friends between, you know, 8:30 and 9:00pm which you also shouldn't do if you go to bed anytime soon. You should at least leave an hour or more. Not using your phone and not checking Facebook and stuff before bed just for better sleep. That's a whole other topic. But, you know, be intentional with the use. That would be the other part of the media. Fast. Now, of course, when it comes to watching these videos on YouTube, watch all of them all the time. No, but seriously, like during this fast, again, with YouTube, there is intentional use. You know, you can go on there for education. Even I go on there for Music. I love to listen to mixes and stuff while I work DJ mixes. But also, you know, maybe you do want some entertainment. That's okay. But again, it's intentional. Oh, great. I'm gonna go hang out and, you know, watch some videos during my lunch break. And, you know, you're doing it for entertainment, but it's not like, oh, I'm here to work. What's going on on YouTube? What's going on on Facebook? What's going on in the news? Oh, that was so dramatic. And then 30 minutes passes by and you're kind of like, wait, what was happening? What's going on with me? And you're. Especially with the news media, you're subtly accumulating to more and more tension. So that's my mini challenge for you. Let me know in the comments below if you're gonna take it on. And more importantly, come back and comment on this video a week later, maybe even two days later. Some people in the Mastermind program, within days noticed a difference, and some people decided to continue it beyond the 30 days. I personally stopped watching and paying attention to news maybe six months ago or more. It was just. I was. You know, I'd watch the Daily show and read stuff online and just. And the. Just the ongoing drama of it was just so pointless. And so I stopped. And then you can get targeted information about stuff that you care about. So there's certain projects that I'm studying and watching, how they develop in the world. And so I'll go specifically get information about that, like, what's going on with this, what's going on with the development of water here and other things like that, because I'm curious about them. So you can have those things, but it's very limited. I don't have any news on my phone anymore. I don't even have email on my phone anymore. And when it comes to Facebook or something like that, I'm going in. I have an intention before I set an intention before I go on there and I pull myself back if I get sucked into something else. And then with YouTube, it's, as I was describing, intentional use as well. And as I've done this, I felt so much better. And I want to hear what your experience is too. So share below. And until we speak again, may you have the courage to be who you are and to know on a deep level that you're awesome. I'll talk to you soon.
