Today is something that a lot of people actually struggle with. No one talks about it because it's embarrassing and it's uncomfortable. But that's what I like to do is talk about the embarrassing and uncomfortable stuff so we can heal it and let it go. And this one is actually surprisingly easy to let go. So I'm excited to share this with you. And it's shy bladder. So shy bladder is when it's not necessarily a technical term, but that's when you get into a public restroom situation. A urinal usually could be a stall as well, but usually a urinal, and you need to pee. That's why you went into the bathroom. But there's someone in the bathroom either right next to you in the urinal or washing their hands or who knows where. And then you have this difficulty going to the bathroom. Like you just can't start. And then anxiety starts to increase because you start to imagine what the other people in the bathroom are thinking about you because you're standing there not peeing. So, for example, I used to deal with this a lot. And I'd be sitting there and I'd be like, the guy next to me. And I'd be like, oh, my God, he thinks I'm a weirdo. He thinks I'm bad, there's something wrong with me. He thinks I'm just hanging out in the bathroom. What the fuck is wrong with this guy? Is probably the summary of what I'd imagine. They're thinking, what the fuck's wrong with this guy? Like, I imagine they're like, is he Peeing yet? Is he peeing yet? The fuck's wrong with this guy? What a weirdo, right? And then I'm more and more tense. And what I would do, there's two ways that I would deal with it. These are very common. You wait that sucker out. You just kind of stand there, just endure it. You're just like, oh, this is so fucking uncomfortable. Oh, God. Oh, Jesus. You just wait it out. And then he goes. And then you're like, oh, okay, now I can pee, right? Thankfully, I'll never see him again. Or. And this is the worst one, I usually would wait it out because I needed to pee, but sometimes you just like, zip, flush, zip. Oh, that was them all done. And you walk out and wash your hands, and then you like, come back to the bathroom 10 minutes later, hold it, and come back an hour later or whatever. Neither is pleasant. And here's the thing. And I didn't know. I just. I had no idea what this was. I had no name for it. And I heard or read somewhere like, hey, this is a symptom of shyness. And I was like, really? And I didn't have any understanding of this at that time in my life. But then I. As I studied this more and more, I realized, yeah, because it's such a social thing, people are judging me. So if you've ever experienced that, you're okay. I don't know the stats on this. I don't know if anyone's done research on it. I haven't looked into that personally, but I know it's extremely common, even for people who don't think of themselves as shy. So how do we become free of this? Here's what you do. And I call it the M and M method. You ready? So here's what you do. I remember I was listening to a period of my life and I was listening to a lot of Eminem. Cause I gotta be hard, man. We gotta be tough. And I remember, you know, his attitude and what a lot of rappers embody is like, I don't give a fuck. I don't give a shit what you think about me. Like, they're really kinda hard and almost aggressively not caring what other people think. So what I did kinda spontaneously one day that just worked is I had headphones on. I was in an airport. I'll remember this day forever. I was in an airport, I had headphones on and. And I walked into the airport and there was like one urinal and there's like two people, one person on either side. And you know that's the worst, right? It's like, oh, God. Actually, the worst is those troughs at, like, you know, stadiums where there's no guard or nothing. Those are the worst. But this was pretty bad. Like, two guys on either side and. But I had to go. And I was just like. I was listening to Eminem and I just did this. I was like, man, fuck this, man. I pee wherever I want, whenever I want, in front of whoever I want. What the fuck? I'm gonna pee right now. Watch this. Yeah. In front of whoever I want, whenever I want, whatever I want. I just said that all in my head with that energy and intensity. And I walked up to the urinal and I was standing there and I just kept on repeating like, yeah, motherfucker, I just pee. And it was this phrase, I pee wherever I want, whenever I want, in front of whoever I want. Cause I swear that's probably a line from one of his songs. Maybe not. I pee in front of whoever. But it was like, I say whatever I want, whenever I want, in front of whoever I want. I don't give a shit. Right? That's his attitude, and that's what I. And I just kept on repeating that again and again. And it was almost this like, quasi aggressive, like, man, what the. You want to go, motherfucker? You know? And it worked. It totally overrode all that fear. And I stood there for maybe a good 10 seconds before I peed. Just kind of like that fear energy would come in. I just pushed back with this kind of I don't give a fuck energy. And I was just able to go. And I was like, wow, that was fascinating. So I experimented with it and I tried it again. The next situation I come in, just a regular situation, maybe one person over there, and I'd be like, man, I pee wherever I want in front of whoever I want, say whatever I want, do whatever I want, pee wherever I want. And I just say that again. That's the key thing to this statement. It's like I'm doing all these hand gestures because that's like how I'm saying it, but I'm not verbally saying that. I hope you're getting that. When I walk into the bathroom, I'm not being like, what's up, y'? All? I pee wherever I. No, it's not that. You walk in, you're normal looking, but in your head, with that energy and that volume, it's saying this in your head, man. I pee wherever I want, whenever I want, in front of whoever I want. I pee Whenever I want, wherever I want, in front of whoever I want. You build on that energy and you just keep repeating that, keep repeating that. And then you stand there and you wait it out and you say to yourself, I'm never gonna go pretend to be finished again. I'm just gonna wait this shit out. And once in a while you have a situation where you're just gonna wait that person out. But more and more you do this and you practice this, the more powerful, the more free you'll become. And then it just becomes a non issue. And then to test it even further, what I would do is I'd start going into situations and I would pick the more anxiety provoking urinal. Right. You know, there's an algorithm that all guys have about which urinal to pick. There's a great like cell phone app that that proves this, where they give you like four urinals and there's a silhouette of who's there. And kind of the algorithm is, well, you always try to pick a urinal away from the person. You try to pick a urinal on the sides versus in the middle. It's fascinating how we all pick the same things. But what I would start doing is picking the one that was like right next to the person, not the further away one, to practice this and to work on it. And you keep kind of leaning in that edge. And eventually it became a non issue and I don't have to do this anymore. I don't even think about it anymore. And it's true. I pee wherever I want, whenever I want, in front of whoever I want. And I want the same for you. So share below. Try this out and share. Does it work? Where does it work? What are the sticking points you have? Let's help you break through this because this is a simple problem. You can solve it fast. And it might seem like almost so simple, like what does this have to do with greater confidence? If you have something like this going on, it can kind of undermine your confidence because you're like, yeah, even though I'm confident at work or I'm confident in this dating relationship, what if they knew I had this terrible growth problem? Oh, no. Right. And it creates all this shame. So let's just let it go, Forgive yourself for it, take this action, become more bold and see what happens. Until we speak again. May you have the courage to be who you are and to know on a deep level that you're awesome. I'll talk to you soon.
