CONFIDENCE SECRET: I Don’t Have Problems!

Dr. Aziz argues that calling life situations 'challenges' instead of 'problems' reduces resistance and builds confidence. The word 'problem' implies something unwelcome, while 'challenge' invites you to step up and win. A small language shift that reframes daily difficulties as opportunities.

In the intro, I made a bold claim that it's possible to live without problems. Now, what do I mean? Well, let's take a step back here and look at how most of us unconsciously approach our day and verify this in your own experience. Pay attention to your own life and I think you'll see this is true for you too. Most of us are approaching life unconsciously, wanting it to be smooth and easy. We wake up in the morning and we want it to be easy. We don't want to be tired that day. We don't want to have anything big or hard on our schedule. Have you ever had that? You know, you have something challenging on your schedule, a certain presentation or a task you need to complete, and you're like, ah, today's gonna suck, right? You know what I'm talking about. We're immediately in resistance to the day. We had this unconscious expectation demand of life that it go smoothly and easily. And the things that we have planned that we need to take care of, we want them to go just as we want. We want them to be easy. We want to solve the problems quickly, get on to the next thing. And we definitely don't want anything unexpected, anything new that comes into our lives, that's a new problem. And then we get indignant inside, we get outraged inside. Whether we show it or not inside, there's like a another damn thing for me to deal with. This is not. This is not right. This is not fair. And you know where that comes from. That actually comes from the origin of the word problem. So the other day I looked this up. I said, what does problem actually mean? Do you know what it means? If I look it up on Google, you can check it out yourself. Right now it says, a matter or situation regarded as unwelcome or harmful and needing to be dealt with and overcome a situation that is unwelcome or harmful. Now what is that doing in your subconscious? When you see something coming your way, you identify it as a problem. That means immediately it's unwelcome. Unwelcome is going to produce resistance in you, fight in you. Ah man, this is wrong. Something is shouldn't be happening. It's. It's unwelcome or harmful. Harmful is threatening, dangerous, possibly gonna hurt me in some way, physically, emotionally, prevent me from achieving my goals. So that's when I decided, well, what if I just didn't have problems? Now, a little while back, in a video, I recorded a powerful shift, which is, I don't worry, I solve problems. Very helpful for me at that time. I don't worry. If I caught myself worrying about something in the future I couldn't control, I'd say, listen, I don't worry, I solve problems. If I need to set aside 5, 10 minutes to brainstorm how to solve this problem, I will. But then just the other day I was like, wait a minute, what if you didn't have problems? Well, I noticed that a lot of people in the self development world, like Tony Robbins and stuff, would always call them challenges. So I thought, was that just some, like, you know, positive thinking, Reframe? Well, yeah, but check out this. The definition of challenge is a call to take part in a contest or a competition, Especially a duel. I like that one because it makes me smile imagining a duel. But a contest or a competition. So something comes your way out of nowhere that day. Is it a problem, AKA unwelcome, wrong, harmful, or is it a challenge? And what happens when it's a problem? We either want to run away or we're like, fine, ah, I'll deal with it. But it's like this resistance mode versus a challenge. Think about a contest. Think about a competition. You step up to the challenge, you rise to the challenge, you bring your best to the challenge, and of course you overcome it. You want to win a competition, don't you? You want to win a contest, and you definitely want to win a duel. Now, I've never personally been in a duel, but I imagine that I'd want to win just because I'd want to stay alive. So what if you made the commitment today to start calling everything instead of it's being a problem. Call it a challenge. Now, sometimes we don't go around the day consciously calling our problems problems. We just that thing I got to deal with. That thing I want to deal with. So consciously call it a challenge. Oh, need all my tax documents ready. Okay, well, that's a challenge. That's a challenge. This person is upset with me. That's a challenge. We got this new email for this unexpected thing that needs to get done. Challenge. Step up to the challenge. Call it. It's a simple thing, but language creates our reality, and the definition of words changes our whole entire emotional experience. So from now on, I don't have problems. I have challenges. I don't worry. I address challenges. Is the new upgrade to that old phrase. I don't worry. I address challenges. I tackle challenges. I best challenges. I step up to challenges. So find your phrasing. But the key is just to bring that to the front of your mind. Approach the day as if that's the way you're doing it. And you will start to shift inside and find more and more power. And in next week's episode, I'm going to be talking about three. It's going to build on this idea, and it's three simple words that will help you transform fear into power. And it's building on this idea of challenge. It's the next level of taking this from the defensive to the offensive. So I'll see you in that next episode next week and share your comments below. What shifts are you going to make? How are you going to apply this in your life? And until we speak again, may have the courage to be who you are and to know on a deep level that you're awesome. I'll talk to you soon.
