Do You Secretly Feel Like You're Failing?

Dr. Aziz explores why many people feel like they're failing despite their efforts, and suggests that noticing small daily wins—rather than doing more—builds real confidence. He shares concrete examples of what counts as a win and invites you to try it.

If you're fully honest with yourself, do you feel like on some level that you're falling short on most days, that you're not doing enough, that you need to show up more, you need to get more done? You weren't focused enough, you weren't productive enough, you weren't patient enough, you weren't kind enough, you weren't smart enough, you weren't determined enough, your results aren't coming fast enough. You, on some level, are failing. And maybe you don't use that word. Maybe it doesn't have that dramatic, you know, language, but does it kind of feel like that? There's so many people I talk to who are. They are kind, they are successful, they are driven, They're. They're all these qualities that they. They feel like they're not enough of, and they are already that. And then there's this perpetual sense of like, yeah, but. And that's what I want to look at with you today, just to see if you relate to this, if this is something that feels like it resonates for you and, you know, what's the solution? Is the solution that you do need to do more, that you need to work harder, that you need to be more productive, that you need to be more patient? All these things. And my question would be maybe, I don't know, maybe you could benefit from being more productive or more patient, but have you been trying to be that way and striving to be that way and improving yourself to be that way from for how long? And have you gotten there? And is there a point where it would be enough, where you're like, yeah, crushed it. I'm awesome. And if so, what is that? What's the bar? Is it super high? How often can you achieve it? Can you achieve it like once a day, or is it once a month, once in a blue moon, that you get to feel that way? And something I work with, with clients a lot around is their capacity looking at building confidence here, right? Their capacity to see and acknowledge and feel their daily wins. It sounds so simple. It's one of those things where we kind of roll our eyes at that, right? It's like counting your wins and whatever. What's the real. That's not gonna work. What's the real confidence secret? You know, some of those confidence secrets are, like, really simple stuff that you just do regularly. Like, one of them is do what scares you. It's not super complex, but if you do what scares you consistently, it will transform your confidence. This is another one is to train yourself to Focus on where you're winning. And if you're chronically feeling like you're not enough, the problem might not be that you are not enough. And you need to do more that that's just perpetuating it. What you might need to do is to train yourself to look differently, to see differently. So right now, in this moment, what's a win from today? And if you're watching this first thing when you wake up, then you know what's a win from yesterday? By win, I mean something that you know is going your way, something that you like, something that you're proud of that you did or. Or just something that's going well in your life. I mean, that's a win, right? Sometimes you don't have to make all the wins happen. Sometimes a win is just an acknowledging what's going well. So what's a win? Great. What's another win? Great. What's another win from? Yeah, all from today or all from yesterday? Oh, my gosh, that's ridiculous. You can't have that many wins. Well, how are. What's your criteria? So you gotta be like, I had to get the biggest promotion in the world, get the biggest results, achieve the project, get married. You know, it's. It's endless. What, what about. Did you move your body? Did you make a choice that felt good for you in terms of your health? Did you, I don't know, take an action on a project and get something done? Did you lean into the emails or the things that you didn't want to get to and you just kind of, you know, or the tax or bank paperwork or whatever that you've been avoiding, you're just like, all right, let's just do it. And you did it for 30 minutes or an hour, you made progress on it. Did you slow down and hug one of your kids or have a moment to kiss your sweetheart on the way out? That's a win, too. So how many wins could you notice each day if you focused your attention there? Share down below in the comments what you're learning, how it's affecting you. And until we speak again, may you have the courage to be who you are and to know on a deep level that you're awesome. I'll talk to you soon.
