There's one key mistake that makes you way less interesting in conversations. I just got off the phone with a client, and it's tragic because he's an interesting human, just like you are, but he's making this mistake, and it drives people away. They kind of want to look around the room and talk to somebody else. You ever been in that situation? So here's what he was doing. I asked him about his day, his life. He says, well, I went to the hospital. He's an oncologist, which is a cancer doctor. Saw some patients, went to the gym, went home, made some food, nothing much. And we dug a little deeper. And it turns out that that day, one of his patients was literally in tears, thanking him because he saved life. And so don't dismiss the details of your day, of your life. A moment of frustration, a moment of connection, a funny moment, an interesting moment, a heartfelt moment. Share that detail as if it is interesting, and it will be. Stop dismissing it and notice how people are drawn in and want more.
