A short advice video by Dr. Aziz on responding immediately when someone interrupts you. He argues staying silent rewards interrupters and offers two concrete tactics: (1) keep talking a bit louder to continue your point, and (2) use a hand gesture and a phrase such as "Hold on a second, let me finish" to reclaim the floor.

The worst thing you can do when someone interrupts you is nothing. You just go silent and let them walk all over you. And then what's going to happen next? They're just going to do it again. They've learned that it's okay. You haven't taught them, you haven't trained them. That's not acceptable for you. So here's two ways to deal with it. Immediately. That's the key. Do it right away when someone interrupts you. Number one, don't be interrupted. Just keep going. So you're saying something in a meeting or sharing, and they start to go, blah, blah, blah, blah. And you go, you keep talking a little bit louder and keep going. And yes, everyone knows what you're doing. You're basically saying, no, thank you, please don't interrupt me. Number two is you put your hand up and. Hold on a second, hold on a second, let me finish. Same thing. You're not letting them interrupt, but you're calling it out. Either way works and will stop people from interrupting you.
