How To Do The Impossible! Step #4: Impossible Becomes Ordinary

Dr. Aziz explains how to turn impossible achievements into ordinary habits through repetition and identity shifts. He shares how he went from dreading cold approaches to dating confidently, completed a grueling 44-mile trek, and became a runner by writing affirmations that rewired his self-image. The key: practice until the thing you feared becomes just part of who you are.

I want you to imagine something real quick. Imagine something right now that feels impossible for you. Something small or something big. Doesn't matter. What is impossible? Oh, that wouldn't be possible. I could never do that. Oh, that would never happen for me. Okay, you got it. Your first thing that comes to your mind, what if not only was that possible, but you were at a place in your life where that was just ordinary? It was just something that you did all the time, just happened every day. It was like no big deal at all. Wow. What would that be like? Watch this episode to find out how to make that your reality. And you've probably watched, hopefully steps one, two and three. And now step four is when we tie it all together. And if you haven't watched steps one, two and three, it like a four part miniseries, right? Like, wow, you wouldn't start with step four. So go back and watch steps one, two and three and then come join me here. So step four is the impossible becomes ordinary, right? So in step one, we started to question our stories. It's not possible for me to go talk to that person. It's not possible for me to, you know, change careers. It's not possible for me to be successful in business. It's not possible for me to have a loving, deep love, long term relationship where I love the person more after 10 years than when we first met. It's not possible, right? Step one is you really start to question that, say, wait a minute, is that really true? Step two is you surround yourself. You find people in your world or on YouTube or in books or wherever, on audiobooks and podcasts. People you know in reality doesn't matter. You surround yourself in their world where you're hearing about it all the time. They already are doing the very thing that you think is impossible for you. So just by the nature of being around people, you're like, you know, I think it is possible. I mean, it seems pretty ordinary for them. So you're in their world. Then step three is you got to do your own dramatic attempt because sure, it might be possible for them, but not for me, right? You got to challenge that story. You got to go do something, take the dramatic attempt and then you break through to the other side. Now we're entering into step four where. Where once you've done that, the impossible now is no longer impossible. Right? Because you've done it, it's possible, and now it starts to become more ordinary and you start to do it habitually or all the time. So I remember, I mean, I've been telling the story about physical health and growth and I'll get back into that in this episode. But just a quick side note, for me, it used to be it would have been impossible to approach a woman that I was very attracted to and, and start a conversation with her and if it was going well, ask for her number or email or whatever and then set up a date, let alone have her go on a date with me and like, want to be with me or hang out with me or go on a second date. Like, that was just impossible. Especially like what people would call the cold approach, where you're just like, you know, it's not even. There's no context. You're just walking right up to them in a supermarket or whatever and starting a conversation with them. Totally impossible. Right? Then I immersed myself in the world of people who were doing that all the time. Then I had my own first dramatic attempts, which were messy. And I tell people about those elsewhere too, but especially in my dating mastery course, Within Confidence University. You get to hear a lot of my tales of woe there. And by the way, if you don't know of Confidence University, do check out below in the description. There's a link for it. You can, you can also just go to theconfidenceuniversity.com it is a step by step guidance on exactly how to maximize your confidence in all key areas of your life. So if you're benefiting from this show and this YouTube channel that is like way more structured, way more exactly the next steps of what you need to do now to get the results that you want. So check that out for sure. But anyway, I have my dramatic attempts. They were, they did not go well at first, but I kept at it and eventually I started to have positive interactions. And I'll never forget the first time I approached a woman, didn't know her, just started a regular conversation with her and had the moment of like, this is going well. She's not Rejecting me. What do I do? It was like, I wasn't. I was like, you know, I was going for this, but I wasn't prepared for this. And so I didn't flee. I didn't flee. I played it off cool. Give me your number. Okay. But then eventually it just became ordinary. There's that woman. Okay, I want to go talk to her. And ordinary doesn't mean I'm like a corpse about it. Like, oh, yeah, another woman to approach, whatever. Like, maybe I was excited, maybe I was nervous. You know, I did feel that eventually it switched from like, there's someone I want to talk to to ooh, I want to talk to her. Ooh, this is going to be exciting. So that's what happens if it becomes ordinary. Maybe the energy becomes a little more positive anticipation as opposed to terror. But still there's juice, there's energy. So. But it becomes a regular thing. It wasn't like, oh, my God, I just approached someone today. I was like, oh, yeah, Yeah. I was at the store and I was getting some stuff and I saw this woman. I was like, hey, I'm going to go talk to her. And then I did. And then I went on about my day and it was just, ain't no fang. So the impossible becomes ordinary. And that's what I noticed after my Mega Trek, which you can hear about in the last episode, if you didn't. 44 miles in a 24 hour period between walking and running. And then I completed that. That was awesome. And then I noticed the next week I said that on a Friday, took Saturday to kind of relax and rest. And maybe Sunday too, I don't remember. But then come Monday, I ran to the gym, then was at the gym, then walked during a session, got about three miles in there, and then it was like the afternoon. And I was like, I got more juice in my body. Let's just go for another run. And all of a sudden, like, moving a lot more during the day became normal. There's a bump in my weekly mileage between walking and running. It just jumped up a little bit. Became like, why not? Yeah, I feel good in my body. So all of a sudden, you, you know, maybe traversing between walking and running 12, 15 miles in a day was a big deal. After doing 44, doing 15. Yeah, why not? And in fact, the very next week, which is today. So that was a week ago that I did the trek. Well, I'm not sure when this is gonna air. So a week after I did the big trek was another Friday. That's When I'm recording this video right now, and I was like, oh, I want to go for a long run in the morning. And I did. It was about 13 miles this morning. And then I'm sitting here, how much I got from the work today? Can I get all my work done by, like, noon? And then just go walk for four and a half hours, five hours, till about 4:35, and then end the work and then be done with my day? And then so it's like all of a sudden, that's no longer this crazy big thing. It's just like, oh, yeah, I did that last week. This is less intense than that. This is only going to be about, I don't know, 25 miles maybe. Maybe I can get 30 in. I don't know. But all of a sudden, it just becomes. It's no longer a big dramatic thing. So what would that be like in your. Let's say, one of your things? There's a guy in one of the mastermind programs that I run who's wanting to create his own business. And at first, shooting his own video. Putting that out on the Internet was like, you know, he had, like, months and months of fear and doubt and excuses and stories. And then with the help of the group, we, like, helped him set up a challenge where he was going to record a video, post a video a day for, I don't know, 20 or 30 days or whatever it was. And we really helped him break through all the fear to where he started doing that. And then all of a sudden, after like four or five or even seven days, it's kind of ordinary. What do you want? I'm going to shoot my video today, right? So the impossible becomes ordinary. And that is step four. And so part of doing that is you do it habitually. You don't want your dramatic attempt to be this one thing that you did one time, and then you never go there again. It's got to become part of your life, part of what you do, part of ultimately. And here's the biggest secret of all, my friend. Ultimately, it becomes who you are, your identity. And so what I have around my office, which you can't see in these videos, are identity statements that I am implanting in myself that I'm strengthening in myself. So I'm gonna step off camera here real quick for one second. Kapow. This is one that I look at on a daily basis. I am a runner again. Remember where this is coming from? This is coming from a guy who was told that he had an autoimmune condition that he'd have for the rest of his life where his spine would get more and more brittle to where eventually they might have to fuse my spine because it would become so brittle and so damaged from whatever inflammation. And I remember seeing a guy that had happened to and he was hunched over like this and he moved like a robot. And I was like, oh my God, that's gonna happen to me. So I need and needed to and still need to implant a new identity. So the idea of being a runner is what I needed to implant in myself. Then below that, I have things that I do. I run marathons, which I haven't done yet. Right. So you're like, well, how can you say that? Well, it becomes so when you proclaim the identity. I run ultra marathons. Haven't done that. But it sounds pretty cool, huh? I run 50 mile races. I run 100 mile races. I run every day. I love running. I get stronger every day. Thank you, great spirit, for my power, strength and health. So proclaiming ultimately the impossible becomes something you do and then it becomes ordinary because your identity changes, your identity shifts. Now that's an identity I'm adopting more and more and more. And having a 24, 44 miles in 24 hours all of a sudden makes me think like, wow, 50 miles, that's not too far off. And you better believe my mind is already crunching on what I'm calling ultra slam personal endurance challenge to see how far I can go in 24 hours. If I were to intentionally, like, that was kind of a, oh, I'm going to run in the morning and then hang out with my kids and then walk with my wife. And it's like, what if I picked a 24 hour period where it's like, I'm going to go as far as I can and then I'm going to strategize about it. I'm going to run and then walk and then run and then walk and then run and walk. And I even have little tears in my head. Tears. 50 miles, 60 miles, 70 miles, 80 miles, 90 miles, 100. I don't know. We're going to see. So I'll keep you posted about that mega crazy challenge and hopefully this video and the previous ones from this series of episodes is inspiring you because, look, you might have no aspirations to do crazy long running. I get it. A lot of people might not want to. It's kind of weird and, you know, it doesn't necessarily relate directly to the things you want to do in your life. But I'm using it as an example because there is something that you want to do in your life, something that is impossible for you. And the one thing I want you to get from this series of videos is that is complete and total bs. There's a story in your mind that says that is not, that you're not. You can't do it. And if you're really ready to step into step one, which is to question those stories, to really challenge those stories, then that's the key to start unlocking the door. And I would love to hear about what you've done as a result of watching these four videos. What you've done that was impossible for you, that you've now been able to do. I would love to read those stories. So please share that below in the comments.
