Dr. Aziz teaches a brief method for rewiring negative thinking by treating thoughts as voices rather than facts, observing them mindfully (using a "boardroom" metaphor), consulting alternate perspectives (compassionate, confident, faithful), and practicing this reframing repeatedly to transform confidence and life.

The quality of your life is not what's happening around you, it's your thinking about your life. And if you perceive your life as negative, then you're going to suffer. To get to rewire your thinking, the first thing is to start perceiving your thinking not as truth or fact, but is almost like a little voice, like another human in there. I like to think of a boardroom, and there's a character in the boardroom. Name that character. Then start to listen to that character and observe it as if you are in the council seat. And you can watch that voice talking. What does he or she say? Is it reasonable? Is it frantic? Observant? This is mindfulness. Then consult someone else in the boardroom. Hey, what do we think of that? Is that reasonable? Is that the only perspective? Consciously access a different perspective. Do this repeatedly. Maybe a more compassionate perspective, a more confident perspective, a more faithful perspective as opposed to doubting and fearful and critical. And discover what's really true. If you practice this again and again and again, you will rewire the way you think and absolutely transform your confidence and your life.
