The fear doesn't control you. It feels that way because you're relating to the fear with a frantic need to get rid of it.
We have a fear that if I express myself, if I ask for what I want, I'm not gonna have connection, I'm not gonna have love. And so I have to hide and hold back. I imagine there's gonna be, like, someone that's gonna come out and tell me.
Who do you think you are? Who do you think you are?
I couldn't connect with people. Very muted, quiet.
I can be a rocket scientist, but I can't interact with people. Why is that?
I'm a therapist, so I help other people. Oh, you're great as a therapist, but you can't tolerate your own feelings.
My work is to help people challenge those stories and ultimately discover how free you can be.
This is me. Is that true? Oh, it's certainty. And it's like, you see, I'm quiet and I'm shy. It's got to be put on my backpack.
Before finding Aziz, I was always like, I had to be positive. And that's what I thought it took to be loved by people. Not true. It really opened my eyes that it's really not a good thing to beat yourself up.
Such a relief that you can make these mistakes. This is a perfect example. Being terrified normally to go in front of camera and instead it's like, wow, that sounds fun.
Did that whole thing with Dr. Aziz where I got on the stage, it was just like, alright, critic, I'm driving the bus now. That was the moment that feels like it's really shifted my life. I wore perfectionism as a badge of honor. Turns out I was just flat out wrong.
A's are going to approach bees now. Bees. You get to be accepting or you get to be rejecting.
One of my favorite things about the in person live events is you have an opportunity to come together in a room. Not just learn something, like from a book or a podcast, but actually real time. Learn something and then immediately practice it. And then you compress this learning you do over years into literally like 20 minutes.
What's the list of things that are outside of your comfort zone?
We went out and did the three rejections, and we also had to do three embarrassing things. Even just that one time doing it. I remember feeling such a shift.
Okay, that was 50 times faster than I thought it would work.
I threw my shoe. All this crazy shit. Nobody said anything to me. Nobody wanted to look.
It sometimes feels, like, unreal, like it.
Shouldn'T be this easy Sometimes we can pop open and see, and other times.
We'Re like, oh, yeah, yeah, okay. I think that's gonna be it. Yeah. There's still not. And it's not good or bad or right or wrong. The room has a level of authenticity and freedom to be yourself that is refreshing and healing. And as a result, people form bonds and connections.
I feel like this just the tip of the iceberg for me.
This man knows what he's doing. I feel extremely confident to walk out to the world.
Every time there's an opportunity to show up, I show up.
It's just been absolutely amazing experience for me.
I am now able to embrace the emotions that come up.
I don't believe anything will change unless you decide to actually practice and take action. Because on the other side of that.
Discomfort is the freedom you want, the.
Confidence that you want. Ultimately, it's the life that you want.
We can say I will, but later. But what about right now? What if you let yourself stand a little taller? What if you were enough right now? Here I am.
