Powerful Confidence: Your Magnificent Obsession | Dr. Aziz, Confidence Coach

Dr. Aziz presents the idea of a “magnificent obsession” — a focused, almost-obsessive commitment to learning and practicing one area of life (relationships, career, health, money) until mastery. He illustrates the approach with personal stories (intensive study to improve dating; self-directed recovery from long-term chronic pain) and practical tactics (reading/listening to many books, taking courses, hiring mentors/coaches, applying lessons actively). The video ends with a viewer call-to-action to share their own focus and subscribe.

Hey, Dr. Aziz here. Do you want to get way better at something in your life? Whether it's your ability to date, have relationships, your social life, your career? Maybe you want to use that in some way to earn more money or have better time management or whatever it is you want to master, something you want to achieve something either great and extraordinary or just good for you in your life? There's something I'm so excited to share with you because it will transform. Well, it'll help you know exactly where you're at and if you're ready to transform, to really get the results that you want. And it's what I would call a magnificent obsession. Now, I don't know where that term comes from. It might come from Napoleon Hill and Think and Grow rich. Maybe he calls it a magnificent assumption. Magnificent obsession. Maybe someone else already has coined that term. So I don't know where I heard it. I don't think I came up with the term. But I want to show you how I use it in your life. Magnificent obsession. I was talking with a client in the Mastermind program, and he's working on dating. He's a little bit stalled out. One of his goals for the year is to create a relationship, have a girlfriend, develop a great connection with a woman. And he was going strong a little bit towards the end of last year. Now he stalled out. And as we were talking about it, he's like, ah, just. It's hard and excuses and stories and blah, blah, blah. And I'm listening to it, and I'm like, you need a Magnificent obsession level of involvement with this. He's like, what are you talking about? I'm like, watch this. So I walked over to my bookshelf, and it looked different just the other day because I just changed out my Magnificent Obsession after that call. You'll notice here that I got a number of books on display. Tony Robbins, Money Master, the Game, How Rich people think, cryptocurrencies 101, and crypto assets, the Innovator, Investor's Guide to Bitcoin and Beyond. So what is this? This is like a little shrine to what I'm learning right now. You know, what was up there just maybe a week ago was almost all of these books here. We got Pain Free for Life, Mind Over Medicine, the Divided Mind, the Great Pain, Deception, Think Away your Pain, Healing Back Pain, the Mind Body Prescription. What do all those sound like? Like healing pain books, right? I had those up on that little altar for a good four or five months. That was my magnificent obsession. Now my magnificent Recession is moving towards money and investing, especially in the high risk, high crazy, high volatility world of crypto assets. Who doesn't want to know more about that? Anyway, so what. What is this magnificent obsession? How do we use it? Well, I was telling the guy from the Mastermind program. I was like, look, when I wanted to learn dating, I was like, I gotta figure this out. I reached a threshold moment where I was like, I cannot go on another date. I cannot go talk to another woman, work up the courage for months and then get another rejection, another polite, nice guy. Oh, you're so, you know, you seem like a nice guy, but I'm just not that interested. You rejection, I couldn't handle it anymore. So I'm like, I'm gonna figure this out. So I go online, I get David d' Angelo's double your dating ebook and Dating Mastery series. And I learned that anytime he references a book in there, like, you should read this book called Feel the fear and do it anyway, I go. And I get, where's that book Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway? And I read the book that he said to read. And then I study it and I learn. And I'm not just reading it passively, like, oh, this is interesting. I'm reading to apply. It's a magnificent obsession. You're obsessed with figuring this thing, this thing out, whatever that is for you, whether you want obsessed on, you know, how to make your relationship great or how to change your body and be more physically active or date or whatever. You go to the Internet, you go to books, you get obsessed and you focus on it. And I have, like, you know, all those books that are up on that thing, I actually have them in audio version as well on my phone so I can listen to them while I'm driving, while I'm doing dishes, while, whatever. Because as a dad of two young kids, I get a lot more listening time in, especially at double speed, than I do of reading. The reading is more to, you know, to focus my attention on it and remind myself that that's what I'm focused on right now. So I had those books up there and the same thing. I had chronic pain in my body for 20 years, and over the last year, I've healed it completely. Got off medicines that I was on for 15 years, completely healed. The ostensible name of the condition was ankylosing spondylitis, but that was an improper diagnosis, and it's questionable what that diagnosis even means. As with a lot of autoimmune conditions, as you'll discover if you study the shit out of all those books that I was doing. But few people will do that. But if you are willing to do that, then you can do incredible things. And so I took a condition that most people would just sort of succumb to and have for the rest of their life. And. And I did for 20 years. And over the period of a relatively short period of time, I probably worked on it consistently for a year. But six months was like real in depth, magnificent obsession, completely cured. Now I'm running, lifting weights, healthier than I've ever been. No medicines, condition, autoimmune condition, totally gone. So now it's shifting over to money and investing. I find the topic fascinating. I want to learn more about it. So you focus on it, you think about it, you study to learn. Like, I'm going to solve this problem, I'm going to solve this problem. You're obsessed in a good way, a magnificent way that's going to help you grow and transform. And you can do this with social anxiety. You can do this with being too nice. You can do this with any aspect of your personality that you want to change and free yourself and reinvent yourself into something better. You can do this and becoming more assertive and speaking up in meetings. You can do this in any shape, any way, any form. The amount of resources that are available to us is ridiculous in this day and age in our society. So really, if you're studying to learn, you can learn anything. And the stuff that I'm really serious about, not only am I reading books and finding videos and doing courses online or whatever, I'm talking with people, I'm getting mentors, I'm getting coaches, I'm paying people to talk to them and get their expertise. I paid to a bunch of different people to talk about the health stuff, to figure out their knowledge and their insights. Many of the authors of those books I've spoken with and talked to and either interviewed or just paid them for their time. Magnificent obsession. And there's nothing that you can't learn, grow and achieve. So what's your magnificent obsession? Share below in the comments. What's it going to be for you? But what is it already?
