A short YouTube talk by Dr. Aziz urging viewers to identify and communicate their personal boundaries rather than expecting others to know or protect them. The speaker frames boundaries as simple statements of preference (what you want vs. what you don't) and highlights common reasons people avoid asserting them (fear of burdening others, silence leading to disappointment).

Do you protect your boundaries or are you hoping someone else will? Do you even say what it is that you want or don't want which is really all that a boundary is anyway, right? It's your preference. This is what I want. This is what I don't want. Do you let people know what that is or do you just keep silent and hope that they'll know? And if they don't give you what you want, maybe you're upset or disappointed. But hey, I don't want to ask, I don't want to bother, I don't want to be a burden or when someone asks something of you, do you get upset with them? They shouldn't ask me that. If you said no then it would be no big deal. But if you're expecting others to protect your boundaries, for you to know what your boundaries are, to honor your boundaries without you even acknowledging or communicating them, then you're going to be waiting a long time.
