Dr. Aziz (speaker) addresses common fears about speaking up and encourages viewers to express their true opinions despite possible backlash. He introduces and models a mantra—“I say what needs to be said”—and advises using it to point out situations, state different opinions, and ask directly for what you want; doing so builds confidence, leadership presence, and more authentic relationships.

Are you scared to speak up? Scared to share your opinion? Scared to put yourself out there, what you really think and feel? And that's so common in this day and age. And there's so much polarity, and people might get really upset or imagine you said this and you're bad. You're one of those people. And so I find more and more my clients are, like, holding back. I don't want to share things in the world, but guess what? That's only going to make you more and more afraid. You have to realize it's safe to be me. And a powerful phrase I learned many years ago that I'm going to share with you now is I say what needs to be be said. So if you see what's happening in a situation, you point it out. If you have a different opinion, you say it. If you ask for something, you ask for it directly. I say what needs to be said. Remind yourself of that. Become the kind of person who does that, and your confidence will grow. You'll be seen as a powerful leader, and you'll actually attract more real, authentic friendships and relationships in your life.
