T-Rex Confidence? Stop Caring What Others Think Of You! | Dr. Aziz Confidence Coach

Dr. Aziz teaches a wacky video challenge to beat social anxiety: deliberately make embarrassing short videos with a friend, like dancing as a T-Rex. The point is desensitizing yourself to judgment so you can stop restricting who you are.

Are you tired of being held back, of being intimidated by others and then restricting yourself so you don't do anything outside of the bounds of normal? So they're gonna like you, they're gonna approve of you, or so you hope. But it probably doesn't really work. You just leave feeling tense, uncomfortable. You couldn't express yourself. You couldn't say what you wanted to say. And you couldn't just be who you wanted to be. Be who you are. Be who you are when you're your most relaxed, free self around people you love, around friends. Let's shatter that right now. And there's a technique I've been using with a one on one client this last week that's just transforming his world. And I'm going to tell you about it in just a second, but I thought I would demonstrate it first. So I'm going to use a little help from my old friend the T Rex. Observe.
The king of dinosaurs. T Rex. T. Rex.
Terrifying hunter.
Two fingers, 40ft long, 20ft tall, eight tons in weight, more than two elephants. Chomp, chomp, Tyrannosaurus, Gyrantosauru, T. Rex, T. Rex and so forth.
What am I doing here other than being awesome? That is a little video. I just went through this clip a second ago and sang along to it and shot a short video and sent it to my client. It's part of our 30 day wacky video challenge where we're sending videos back and forth to each other and of us being absurd, being ridiculous, doing all kinds of strange things with your voice, with your face, with your movement. There was one where he was at something with his 7 year old nephew and they had some duck call thing that went like quack, quack. And his nephew is sitting there going like quack, quack. And he's jumping around in the background going quack, quack, quack. Just being totally absurd. And this is so important because the reason we're doing this challenge is because he's had a pattern for decades to be like, hi, my name's this, I'm serious, I'm put together, I'm professional, I look polished, I don't want to look like a fool. I don't want people to judge me. I don't want people to think I'm ridiculous. And we're shattering that we're working on his inner game in the sessions. How to not give a shit, how to know that he is valuable, know that people are going to love him for who he is and that people are actually refreshed when they're around someone who's free, but that only gets you so far. The mindset shift. Then you got to get into action. You got to be absurd. You got to face that fire, let it burn, let the discomfort and the embarrassment kind of just tear through you, and then you're free. So get a friend. Tell them, hey, let's do a wacky video challenge where we send each other absurd ass videos for the next seven days or 10 days or whatever you want. Or just heck, record them yourself even if you don't want to send them to anyone and just rewatch them a couple of times. Let it be uncomfortable. If it's uncomfortable, it means you're doing it right. And if it's not uncomfortable, it means you're not pushing the edge enough. Be absurd. Be ridiculous. Sing along to badass kids YouTube cartoons and have fun. The reason I chose this one is because I Woke up at 2 in the morning to go pee last night and my son had been listening to it. Zaim is four now, and when I'm walking to the bathroom to go pee, all I hear in my head is bum bum bum bum bum.
T. Rex. T. Rex.
So I thought I'd share that with you guys. Go do some wacky videos, burn through that fear and keep being you. Because the world's a better place when there's more of you out in it. Alright, until we speak again, may have the courage to be who you are and to know on a deep level that you're awesome. Talk to you soon.
