You might think that being nice is a good thing, but actually it's a ticking time bomb that can ruin your life. Just ask the thousands of people that I've helped who are overlooked at work, ignored in relationships, and living lives of overwhelm and burnout. Because the problem with nice is not that you over accommodate and just give and give and give with no boundary. It's not that you smile and suppress when you want to scream or get away. And it's not even that you get ignored and overlooked and miss out on all the opportunities in life. I mean, those are all problems with niceness that I personally experienced. But the biggest problem with being too nice is that you're not being yourself. You're being who you think you're supposed to be for somebody else. You're being somebody else for somebody else. What? I know it's confusing, and it's confusing because you're not connected with yourself. So here's what you need to do. You need to make a decision right now. Instead of being nice, I'm gonna be real. I'm gonna have direct contact with other humans. I'm gonna live this life fully as me. And I'm gonna be able to build the capacities to handle discomfort, handle disagreement, handle rejection, so I can live.
