Dr. Aziz explains that imposter syndrome isn't about lacking qualifications. It's about giving too much power to your internal critical voice. Stop deferring to that doubting voice and your sense of being a fraud disappears.

Here's how to solve imposter syndrome fast. Imposter syndrome does not have anything to do with your qualifications. You probably didn't con your way to where you are in your career. Imposter syndrome comes from one thing, which is that voice in your head. And we all have a voice in our head that doubts us, that criticizes us, that tells you that you're not enough and you're an imposter. The problem is not that voice, even because everyone's got it. The problem is you defer to that voice. And so when it starts talking, we say, what yet? Oh, okay, I guess that's unfortunate. And you believe in that voice. And so what if you stopped deferring to that voice? You stopped listening to that voice, stopped having that voice as your trusted advisor. And my guess is that voice doesn't just show up at work. It also shows up in your love life, your social life, your friendships, with family, anywhere. That voice is not the problem. You listening to it and giving it authority is the real thing to change now.
