A short YouTube monologue by Dr. Aziz explaining that overthinking stems from a desire for control. He recommends two practical exits: (1) start doing—take action to solve or divert attention, and (2) feeling—shift into the body, locate the fear, slow your breathing, and sit with the discomfort until the mind calms.

If you spend way too much time in your head overanalyzing things, you have to learn this one little secret to help you. You have to understand where the overthinking pattern is coming from. And it's coming from a desire to control everything. Did they like me? Did I do that right? I got this project coming up. Your thinking goes on hyperdrive because you're worried, because you're afraid. You want to control things, and the thinking is an attempt to try to control everything. But you can't control everything. So what do we do instead? You got to access two of your other functions besides just thinking, which is doing and feeling. One way out of overthink is to start doing stuff. Should I do that? What do they think of me? Just go do something. Go do something else. Go to solve the problem, or go do something completely different from whatever you're focusing on. Number two is feeling. You got to get out of your head and get into your body. Find where you're feeling that fear or that discomfort. Slow your breathing and just be with the discomfort of the feeling without trying to change it. And within moments, minutes, you'll feel way more calmer, and your mind will calm way down.
