Dr. Aziz argues that real confidence isn't self-focused bragging but an outward focus on helping others. True confidence asks "How can I help?" instead of obsessing over your own worth.

Most people are totally wrong when they think about high confidence and high self esteem. And you might be too. Let me share what it really is. You see, most people think, well, if I have low self esteem, low confidence, I'm walking around saying like, ah, shucks, who am I? I'm a nobody, I'm a nothing. No one's gonna like me, it's not gonna go well. So they think, oh, high confidence, high self esteem is. I think I'm the greatest, I'm awesome. I know, I'm so amazing, everyone's gonna love me. That's not high confidence or high self esteem. You want to know what it really is? It's when you're not focused on yourself at all. There's the other person. You're like, who are you? What's going on in your life? Or someone asks you a question, you work like, how can I help? What can I serve? What can I do here? And you just, it's unquestioning, you know that you have something to offer, but you're not even focused on that. You're focused on what you're doing, who you're helping outside of you. That is high confidence and high self esteem.
