Dr. Aziz delivers a short motivational talk asking viewers to identify who holds authority in their lives and argues that being the internal authority (the author/captain of your life) is central to confidence, authenticity, and social freedom. He contrasts healthy learning from mentors with deferring decision-making to others or an internal 'committee,' links that deferral to chronic anxiety and feeling unadulted, and urges reclaiming personal authority. The video closes with a call-to-action directing viewers to draziz.com and Dr. Aziz's Confidence University for deeper work.

Who is the authority in your life? That might be a question you haven't asked yourself, but in this video, you're going to discover why. That's an extremely important question. And the answer to that will determine your confidence, your authenticity, your level of social freedom, and the ability to just be yourself without worrying about what other people are going to think. And the judgments and the ideas of others that keep you up at night, those fearful anxiety dreams of, what are they going to think of me? This question addresses that. Who is the authority in your life? What's the authority? The authority is the person who's in charge, right? They have the authority to give orders, to have people obey them. I'm not talking about you being a tyrant. I'm talking about you in your own life being the authority, the author, the creator, the captain who's deciding which way you go. Do I go this way or that way? Do I believe this or that? Do I say this or that? Do I do this or that? And that could be really small stuff, like what you wear, what you say, how you style, your face, your clothes, your hair, everything, even the way. Bigger things than that. Where you choose to work, who you spend your time with, what you believe, what values you live out in your life. Are you the authority or is it someone else? And that's why started with that question, if it's not you, who is it? And it might be a little mixed in there. You're like, well, sometimes. Well, there's maybe other pressures, other voices. And so you want to start asking yourself, who is it that I'm looking to? And you might not literally be going to somebody and asking them, although you might. I've seen a lot of clients I work with who they don't make the decision themselves. They'll ask person after person after person after person, what do you think? What do you think? What do you think? What do you think? And even if you're not like that, you might do what I did for many years, which is the committee's in your head. You might be consulting those people, but not in real life. Oh, dad, what was. Mom, what was this person? What was my. You are lost in this ocean of other people who become the authority. Or maybe it's just one person. You know, there's people I work with who. This is what my family thought this is. My dad thinks this is what my boss was, what a mentor would believe. And who am I to challenge that? Who am I to disagree with that person? That person seems so certain. They seem so right. They had Better results in their life. They were better than me. I have to defer to their authority. And look, I'm not saying you can't learn from people. I've learned from tons of teachers and mentors and books. Great, great, but ultimate. You can take in all that information, all that guidance. But who makes those decisions? Who decides today in this situation at work, talking to that person, moment of the mentor or that friend or your dad is not following you around every moment of the day? Hopefully not. And telling you, you should do that, you should do this, you should do that, but instead you've taken an internal version and you're just kind of, what, what should I do with my life? And that creates a fearful, confused, anxious, kind of perpetually lost feeling. Does that resonate for you? Do you experience some of that? And we're hoping it'll just go away. Maybe when I get older, maybe when I get the right job, maybe when reach some milestone, I gotta get married, I gotta have a kids, I gotta have a house. And then if I get to that, all of a sudden I'm gonna feel like an adult. I hear that often. People like, I don't feel like I'm an adult yet. And they're in their 40s, it's like, what's going on there? It's not their age, it's not even their external circumstances. Maybe they've done a lot of adult things right. It's inside. They don't feel like the authority. Why? Because the parents are still the authority or the boss is still the authority? So who is the authority in. And if the answer is not you, and the question is when will it become you? When will you reclaim that power, reclaim the throne and start being the captain of your own ship, the captain of your own life.
