Temas / Kendine Temas Nedir? Somatik bir egzersiz ile

In this guided somatic meditation, Gülen Gündüz Yılmaz (joined by speakers B and C) explores the concept of "self‑contact" – the practice of intentionally turning attention toward one’s own body to counteract the habitual avoidance caused by an inner critical voice. The session begins with a brief discussion about why people distract themselves with external stimuli (TV, Instagram, work messages) to avoid hearing that harsh inner commentary. It then moves into a step‑by‑step sensory exercise: participants sit comfortably, take deep breaths, and focus on the hand and forearm. They observe visual details (lines, veins, nails), notice movement, then close their eyes to explore the smell of the hand, followed by a tactile exploration with the other hand (varying pressure, speed, and listening to the sounds produced). Finally, they taste the hand/forearm, reflecting on the flavors and sensations. Throughout, the facilitator encourages a compassionate, gentle attitude toward oneself, asking whether the touch feels soft or hard, and inviting participants to notice how the inner critic responds. The overall aim is to cultivate embodied awareness, self‑compassion, and the ability to maintain self‑contact while also being open to contact with others.
