Jake Setterlun bought discounted gift cards worth $200 for $100, flipped iPhones for $600 profit, then started a prototyping business in engineering school using 3D printers to turn strangers' ideas into products like golf training devices and scooter skis.

And we were getting these gift cards for about half price. So we'd pay $100 for a $200 gift card, take 5 gift cards, buy an iPhone and a PS4. Now we're $500 into it and we would go, we could get rid of the iPhone for about $600. These are brand new in plastic. And then our profit was the PS4 that we were selling for like, you know, again, unopened, $200. So, you know, that obviously sparked some entrepreneurship and then got into doing the prototyping business. So with the prototyping business, basically it's just as you say, somebody has an idea. Again, as a kid, that's what we were doing. I remember I made this golf thing It had a string coming down and you would hit the golf ball, it would wind up, but it basically allows you to hit a real golf ball without having to hit into a net. I remember making scooter skis as a kid. So just a lot of, a lot of cool stuff. So we wanted to, you know, take people's ideas and turn them into legitimate products. So we had access to 3D printers because we were in engineering school. One of the first projects we got was chopstick holders. I remember the other one was an inside organizer for a gym bag. And these are all people that I had found actually through doing some of my first advertising.
