Mark Cuban bought the Texas town of Mustang for $20 million because it was the only town in Texas on the market. The conversation explores what ownership actually means: does he become mayor, sheriff, or something else, and what responsibilities come with running an entire municipality.
You purchased a small town in Texas.
Yeah, Mustang, Texas.
Why did you buy the town?
It's the only town in all of the state of Texas that is available for sale, so I bought it.
What happens when you purchase a small town? Are you the mayor? Are you the sheriff? How are you then responsible for it?
I made one of my buddies the mayor, which basically means he's responsible for cleaning the trash and keeping it clean. That's the job of the mayor of Mustang, Texas. And what we do with it ties back to Shark Tank. There's a guy on Shark Tank, Dinodon. He makes the animatronic dinosaurs. We did a Shark Tank episode on it, and I invested in him. So we might change Mustang Texas to Dinosaur Texas and just having all these big, huge Jurassic Park-like dinosaurs.
