The Alpha and Omega Principle

A framework called Alpha and Omega treats masculine and feminine traits as a spectrum instead of fixed to gender. The speaker and their partner London practice moving freely between leadership and nurturing, choosing which qualities serve each moment rather than performing rigid roles.

So we've adopted the terms Alpha and Omega to help ourselves and those we teach better understand polarity and how it actually impacts our love life and shows up in our day-to-day lives. So polarity is this principle in sexual yoga where we have the masculine-feminine principles. And when we start to understand what they are, what they mean, how they operate, we can start to learn in ourselves, like, what do I need to develop as a man? What does she need to develop as a woman? You know, and there's kind of this intuitive biological thing, and a lot of women's groups and men's groups are based on that type of practice. How do I become a full man, you know, really my manhood? How do I become a woman in my womanhood? So there's a lot of brilliance and gifts and that type of exploration, understanding what masculine and feminine mean. And over the course of many years in this practice and in this world with teachers, students, what we started to see in our own practice and, and everyone else around us is that The masculine and feminine are not merely fixed in men and women. It's not merely that men are only masculine and should only be masculine, women are only feminine, should only be feminine. It creates a fragmentation or a frustration because the moment that man is in something else, or the moment that woman is in something else, it becomes a moment of conflict or judgment. Or shame. And the narrative starts to become, you're not feminine enough, you're not masculine enough, you need to be more in your masculine, I need to be more in my masculine, I need to be more in my feminine. And it becomes this shame game and this blame game where we take these archetypes and these concepts that are meant to liberate us and we actually allow them to imprison us. So in our work, by using these terms Alpha and Omega, London and I began to liberate our exploration and to see how when she steps into certain qualities of taking lead, of decision-making, of, you know, running the show, guiding the moment— and she has so many talents in that world. This is an incredibly successful businesswoman, incredibly powerful woman who I love and worship for all of those qualities. I wouldn't want her to lose any of those qualities, right? And the gift is that I also get to experience all of her other qualities too, as nurturer, as mother, as, you know, sexual yogi, goddess, oracle. And what it started to do in our relationship is we began inviting from each other and exploring How do we liberate our full spectrum of who we are, from alpha to omega, as if we were playing the notes of polarity on a piano, from the darkest note to the lightest note? And that has become our practice. So when we teach men and women, we're not merely teaching these frustrated— or, you should be in your masculine, you should be in your feminine. It's, no, here are the notes that are available to you. What notes are you playing? Can you play the notes skillfully, the ones that actually open your lover or actually serve the moment? Is it time for you to shut your mouth and listen and follow, or is it time for you to step up and take the lead? Step forward, right? So in our modern world, I find that understanding how to navigate our bipolar selves is critical. To making relationship work as we move forward. And if we don't know how to do that, we're going to find ourselves completely depolarized, frustrated, or playing the shame and blame game until we're blue in our face and the relationship breaks. So in this model of Alpha and Omega, it's really about how do we liberate ourselves inside of love relationship.
