Building BIG Backs | Full Back Workout @SeanJGayle

Sean Gale leads a back workout focusing on lat pulldowns, lying pullovers, and rear-delt work. The session emphasizes wide grip, deep stretch, and strong squeeze on pulldowns, with weights climbing toward 225 pounds, and stresses isolating the lats without hip swing on pullovers.

What is up, YouTube? We are back with another one. We're gonna do a back workout, but right now I'm gonna finish my breakfast. I already knocked out my eggs. Right now we're tackling— it looks a little different on camera here, but I have some oats mixed with some Splenda and peanut butter and some cinnamon. Just kind of looks— actually, the color looks pretty tragic. Why does it look like that? Maybe it looks more— a little more presentable here. Um, for 40 grams of oats here, uh, 32 grams of peanut butter, blender, like I said, and some cinnamon. Nothing too crazy, trying to do a light breakfast today. I've been really trying to watch my macros recently, at least my calories, cuz I'm trying to get back into the swing of things since the wedding and everything like that. 1 hour later. Yeah, yeah, it's your boy. Look at your boy.
It's your boy over here though.
Big swole though.
I feel bad cuz I didn't bring my camera. It's I'll try. I'll just record on the phone then, you know.
You know what makes me feel bad?
Last time I recorded, my, my, uh, mic wasn't on.
This is broke.
So all the audio, they just broke for 3 days straight, bro.
I did a whole video with like, uh, doing my car and everything, like taking my car apart and everything. We were talking about it for this company.
Yeah.
And I'm listening to audio, I hear—
oh my God, I almost threw the camera in the street.
So we're gonna do a back day today. I don't know what we're gonna do. Sean's gonna lead this workout set expertise here. I'm just a guy that's going to be hanging out, working out.
So, uh, we're going to have some fun, man, I promise you that. Hey, let me talk to you later.
That's right, that's right. We got business, baby.
Boy looks so jacked from the back though.
Boy looks so jacked. Yeah, like, you know you're cool when you could just say hi to everybody, man. That's gold, bro. Hey, my guy. Hey, we just met, but you know, what's up, bro? I'm here.
Listen, me and him go way back.
Me personally, I don't like the aluminum attachment. It makes me feel like—
it's so light.
It's so light and it's not ideal. Yeah. Going for that metal ball. There we go. Starting with lat pulldowns. It's my staple. Do you guys ever— do y'all remember those flying squirrels in the mall and they got the little wings coming out here? That's what I'm trying to do. Listen, this boy wide as hell.
The shirt.
Don't let him fool you. I knew he was going to say something. I knew he said it's the shirt. It ain't the shirt, fam.
It's all about the deep stretch.
Good squeeze at the bottom.
Really engage those muscles knowing exactly what you're working out today. Back with one of those hard most of the group to actually really feel, because it's something that you don't see unless you're just walking around and someone says, hey man, your back looks really nice. Like, oh thanks, never noticed. It's back there, I never take a look. There's some warm-up sets here, especially we're gonna stack on some plates and, uh, go to work. Time to get to make do with what you got here. Squeeze feels so good. Woo!
Woo!
Wow! We're going into the first actual set and, um, This is where it gets real, y'all.
Good form, good stretch, good squeeze, good attitude.
Yes sir, good.
You're hungry for more.
I see that. I saw that. I heard you say that you wanted to do a whole stack. I heard that.
All right, 14 felt good.
Partial at the end. 185 doing the weights. Going to try to take them 200s. I think I weigh like 202 lbs now, maybe 198. Let me chill. So we're going to try to at least do more than my body weight.
First grip set. Yes sir. Hey, we practice safe sets here at Jesse James Westwood Set.
I'm glad one of us does, cuz I'm condomless. Sir. There you go, one rep at a time.
Now my back's sick. Fuck, that was good. You look good at it, man.
Just standing there, bro, you look good. I'm not cool. IFBB Pro, Sean. I'm—
one day, man, one day. 231.
I don't know what I'm thinking with this one.
Probably going to get 8.
This is crazy. 8.
I got to use my knees to get down.
Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on!
2 more.
Let's go, you got one more in you. Come on! Oh yeah, partial, partial!
Sugar glider.
So, uh, how was that? Uh, sir, it was so well that I'm gonna drop sick.
Come on, come on.
All right, now I feel complete.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in one set.
Oh yeah, yeah. Since when? When does this ever happen? You You watching this video, have you ever been to a gym and the squat racks are empty? No, right?
Especially a commercial gym.
Yeah, it is Monday though, it's National Chest Day.
Sir, I think you should go up a weight. I ain't gonna lie, man, this light makes you look so good. Ah, that boy look just like nice piece of Hershey chocolate that was dipped in some milk, and the milk is just gliding off the muscles of it.
Easy, man.
Got you. Strongest things in his triceps.
Oh, I've never done that before.
15.
That's crazy.
So 225, I hear.
Well, I guess now I have to, right?
All right.
Definitely going up. Definitely.
Sean's going to get 2.5 plates for 8. Calling it here. Yeah, boy happy. Easy 10 reps.
Good.
There you go, there you go. Little shock to that posterior chain, let it know who's boss.
It wasn't, it wasn't easy. What it happen? Ooh, God. You comfortable with your shirt off?
I'm fat.
All right, let's do it with the shirts on.
Is this a PR for you?
It might actually be. I've never— yeah, I don't think I've ever even tried it before.
You never know until you try.
Yeah.
Here we go. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. There we go, in between. I like it. Look at that, never say never.
The form was shit though, I ain't going to hold you. That form was terrible.
But you see what it felt like at least.
That boy, guys, yeah, serious screaming right now, dude. I'm, I'm right here, man. The back looking kind of crazy. You looking a little bit like Rocky No music, just mental motivation. Bitch.
Oh, that felt like shit.
Had a cramp.
Sometimes it'd be hard if you train with the celebrities. When you got a celeb fitness personal trainer, they know everybody. Everybody in the gym knows this man. This is goals right here. Buddy came up to him and said, oh snap, I saw your video, you're a track star. Yeah, man. Back in the day, man.
Oh, hi there. I didn't see you. So what we're doing here is we're going to do some lying pull-ups. The reason I like this exercise is because it keeps you stationary. A lot of times when people do their pullovers, they put too much hip into it. We're not doing that. We're going to stay stationary and just use our lats to pull over. All right.
There we go.
Nice arch in the back. Deep stretch, really stretching out those lower lats. Oh yeah, upper lats, all the lats, the whole lat, the whole lat. With the cable, you have the constant tension versus the dumbbell, kind of lose that at the top. Is there any real difference between doing this or standing doing the cable? Not necessarily, but this here, you're able to really isolate by laying here. You're not using that swinging motion and that hip hingement. Really engaging the lats. Something different too. It's nice to have variety.
Oh yeah.
All the tools are here in the gym. You just gotta know how to use them to sculpt exactly what it is you're trying to create.
I like it. Ah, you don't have to go too heavy.
Just really focus at that time under tension.
Oh, felt good.
I'm actually sweating more from that than the actual other workouts. Stay up, you just— my man holding the camera just pumped for no reason.
I, I don't know, and I didn't even take nitro. I was supposed to take nitric oxide. That's what I was supposed to do, and I Forgot.
God dang, imagine.
I don't even know how to pose like that.
Get some rear delt action here. Rear delts are one of those muscles that a lot of us neglect. We'll do side raises, we'll do front raises, but don't really hit that upper shelf. That's how you get that 3D boulder illusion at the top. That density is what we want here. Density pretty much like what this young man has here. Deep stretch, good squeeze, really pulling that cable back. This is what we strive— this right here is called goals, live in the flesh.
He hypes me up, he's really good at that. I, uh, If you guys saw me in person, I look the same, but we— you're not allowed to hype yourself up. You have to hype the other person up. You know how that is. All right, I'm a humble guy.
Meanwhile, when the camera's off, goddamn, I look fucking good.
Goddamn.
Oh yeah. Oh my gosh. All right, thank you, guys. Dang, you see all those cuts? You see this one right here? You ever seen that movie, what is it, 128 Days? The one where the dude had to cut his arm off? That's the cave he got caught in. That's the crevice that he got caught in in the movie right there.
Sir, those are called stretch marks.
Come on, get in.
Honestly, it's not the muscles that bothers me, it's this shit.
I know, man. Pinky, right? Yeah, this man said let's do some biceps and Grabbing the whole bar, and then he has the nerve to get 25 plates. That's Captain America ass.
Sis! You went slow.
I feel like I'm squeezing and so much veins are in my mind, but really in reality it looks like nothing.
But you got veins, you got veins.
Oh yeah.
One thing about me, y'all, I don't like bees, wasps, none of that. I only got a small— oh no, he's still playing. No, he's still coming, bro. He really is.
He about you.
He about you.
This is gonna conclude the workout here with Sean.
Yes, sir.
