4 Things I’m NOT Buying Into

Lori Harder rejects four beliefs: that you can't grow an audience, cancel culture, one-sided news, and the idea that everything is bad right now. She pushes back on each with practical advice: improve your content, choose compassion, seek multiple perspectives, and focus on being a daymaker in your community.

I see and feel so many people putting energy into things they have no control over and fears into things that may never happen and fears into things that may happen. But it would be a blip in time, not a tidal wave. So, yes, it would be a wave, but it wouldn't take you down. Hey, everyone, welcome back to the show. It's time for another quickie because there's always time to fit in inspiration. And I. I am sitting in a hotel room right now. I'm actually at the 1 Hotel in Los Angeles which, if you guys have never stayed at A one, they're really cool. They're very. Just earthy and very about sustainability, and they've got a really cool vibe and aesthetic. This is not an ad, but I should get paid. Also, if you have not tried Glosi yet, I'm telling you, I actually had three yesterday because I'm traveling and people are like, should I be drinking three, you guys, Even in one dose? We use all of the amounts of product that are known to create results. So you're good to go. No stress there. But I will tell you, we do have some people on two boxes a month and they are obsessed with it as well. It just really is your personal preference around how much you want to be drinking glossy and drinking water. So I travel with it all of the time. It's just my personal travel bestie because it makes me feel so good. And I think for gut health, like just regulating your gut, especially when you're on the road. And it helps you stay more regular while traveling, too. And magnesium can just help you sleep and make you feel more normal on the road. So you guys, you know, you're my favorite people on planet Earth because you are my most just like audience that I have spoken to for so many years. And if you're new here, welcome. Hi. We're going to be besties. You just don't know it yet. I'm going to force you to. But you can use code happy for 15% off. But today we are talking about things that I'm not buying into anymore. And this is really more of a just a freedom rant. And I hope that it frees you a bit because I believe that we are only as good as the thoughts that we think. We are only going to be as good as the beliefs that we believe. That's all that we can live into and up to is what we actually believe. So change your beliefs and you will change your entire life. And I see and feel so many people putting energy into things they have no control over, and fears into things that may never happen, and fears into things that may happen, but they'll never, ever even know who they could be or what they could do in the world. Because there is a fear, fear holding them back because of something that even if it did happen, it would be a blip in time. It would be a blip in time, not a tidal wave. So, yes, it would be a wave, but it wouldn't take you down. And these things, if we really believe this, that something can never take you down, I believe only God can take us down. And if you believe that, then you can't stay down forever. Yeah, things could take you down for a hot second. But look, people have been totally canceled. People have been off the radar by different things that they have done, but they have come back in a bigger, better, stronger way. And you have to believe that things are happening for you and that they're just going to make you stronger and more resilient. So let's talk about the things that I am not buying into right now. We're going to go through four. I'm not buying into the fact that you can't grow an email list or you can't grow social media and you can't grow a following and that it's too hard. If we buy into this, we're already done. We're already dead. We've already quit. We're already doa. You guys. You can't even let your brain think this because we still. I don't know if you've heard that rumor going around that they're gonna charge for social media, and they may. And guess what? You'll still have a great way to grow if you're willing to play that game, if you're willing to even start small with it. So you have to remember there was a time where people are like, oh, you can't grow, but people are still growing naturally and organically. I believe it's just making us have to be better right now. Yes. Do things feel suppressed? Yes. Are things different? Absolute. Absolutely. But know the game that you're in and still be so grateful for the fact that we even have social media. Like, you used to have to pay for all marketing modalities, you guys. It used to be TV and billboards and flyers and all of those things that you had to pay for. So we are still in the wild, wild west of things being free. Don't buy into the perspective that it's not worth it because you're already dead. Then your dream is already Dead. And there are still a million ways that you can get out there. And you have to put it into perspective that you don't need a million eyeballs. You just need a hundred really engaged people. And yes, you might need more than a hundred, but you can still, even with a hundred very engaged people, you can start, you can start the big things, start small. So I'm not buying into it. I'm doing it as, how is this trying to make me better? And honestly, it's making me have to level up and it's making me say, you know what? Yeah, my mediocre content is mediocre. Why would I follow me? You have to have wanted, you have to want to follow you. Which means you might have to read more, you might have to work harder. You might have to get ready every day. Yes. You might have to put some makeup on or do whatever, whatever it's going to take for you to get on camera and work a little bit harder, or for you to write those emails and be a little bit better, for you to learn a little bit more, for you to invest in a course, for you to invest in going in rooms, for you to invest in getting outside of your comfort zone so that you can be a step ahead of everybody who's following you. And I just don't think that mediocre is going to work anymore. So it's demanding us to be better. So I'm not buying into the fact that we cannot grow organically.

Number two, I am not buying into Cancel Culture. I think that Cancel Culture, I was just listening to a podcast with Lauren Bostick and her husband and Gary Vee, and they talk about what Cancel Culture does not take into account. And it takes all humanness out. It doesn't allow anyone to make mistakes. And guess what? We are living this life publicly, which means we are going to publicly fail. And we might do it often. And it is not an excuse to fail. It's absolutely, though, a reason why we need to have freaking compassion for each other. You guys, if we don't have compassion and empathy for each other and understand that we are all learning to walk in front of a huge audience, there are going to be so many. There already are mental health issues, fears, beautiful talents that were supposed to come out to the world that got Suppressed that didn't like guys, we have to take a hot second and have compassion that all of us are learning in front of each other. Have a personal conversation with someone. If you have a problem with them, don't take the other route or a bullying route. Be a human being. Love each other and, and allow for people to make mistakes. I'm not saying to let things go. I'm saying allow for the fact that we are all in this human experience and learning together and we're all gonna make mistakes, we're all gonna fail, we're all gonna change our minds, we're all gonna learn new things. We're all gonna have different perspectives. We can only share and teach and understand from our own perspective until we learn other things. We're trying. Not everyone is doing their best, but please take into consideration everybody else. And I think that when we have this comp, I think that it's felt and people will have it for you. And again, I have that belief that truly to be fully taken down. Only God could do that. Those are powers beyond any human being. So to truly like know that if something is happening, it's probably going to make you a freaking powerful force in the future and it's helping you build some strengths and also helping you get closer to the people in your life and realize that maybe you need a stronger team of friends. Maybe you need to really work on that network for yourself so that you know if something were to happen that you have those people that you can talk through, rely on and can help pick you back up. Number three, I'm not buying into one sided information, one sided news outlets, one sided social media. Like if there is something that I want to learn, I want to learn from all perspectives. I don't want to learn from one outlet or one person. I really want to try to gather data from many, many different places. Because right now I think that we need to just be critical thinkers and understand like just in life in general. Life in general. I feel the people who I've learned amazing things from have been able to look at it from like a 60,000 foot view of okay, yes, this might be true over here, but two things can be true simultaneously. Let's look at the whole perspective and I think that it's really important for us to understand that we need to be able to bond over things right now. Like separation is really one of the most depressing places that you can be. I think it's going to put you in even more fear. I think it's going to put us in even more lack. And so I think it's really important that as we are just learning out in the world, whether it's teachers or business or news or just learning anything, that we take it from a multiple perspective view and we remember to be critical thinkers. It's so easy, guys, it's so easy for me to go, oh well, I heard this or I heard that or I heard this about that person. And I think in the world of just working with so many different people, the one thing that I've learned, especially from working in network marketing where you work with so many personalities, is I'm never just going to take one person's information on it to gather my opinions. I'm going to really look at it from all perspectives. And this takes time and work because it's really easy to want to jump the gun and try to just form a quick opinion and be done with it. But that doesn't help us. All right, the fourth thing, I am not buying into the idea that everything is bad out there right now. And yes, I believe that there are horrible things out in the world. There are so many challenges, there always have been. And yes, this is a time of there's a lot going on. But what I also want us all to remember is that we also have beautiful things in our life simultaneously going on. And your day and what you are able to produce for that day and if you are even able to put good back out into the world will determine how much focus you have on said negative thing or if you can just gather the data, know what's going on and then also focus on what is good out in the world. Because it matters. It matters the energy that you carry, it matters how we are to our neighbors, it matters how we are to the person in the Starbucks line. It all matters. So the more that we can focus on the good, the more that we can focus on the family that we do have, the more that we can focus on the relationships that we do have, the possibilities in front of us, the outlets that we have to grow right now. The fact that we can see still have businesses, the fact that we can still go out into the world and be able to speak freely, all of these things are going to determine the value in which you can also put out into the world. And I think at this point we need a lot of people who are doing good, being kind to our neighbors and putting positive propaganda out there and putting hope out there. Because what you focus on is what will be in your life. So you guys, I hope that this helped you. I hope that you remember that truly what we believe is what we will have in our lives. Because it's real easy for me to forget. It's really, really easy to go to the route of, you know, looking for. It's kind of like we find that one piece of negative news and we kind of can spiral out. And I'm like, nope, this isn't what I want for the day. This isn't who I want to be. This isn't how I want to treat people. And I want to be fully present. I know that we can't be all the time, but I want to be someone who brightens other people's days. There is a book out there called Daymaker. And truly, I try to remember that if I wanted more tattoos, that's the tattoo I would get. When I was in my tattoo phase, I was like, I'm gonna get this tattoo. But I wanted it just Daymaker. Like, try to do whatever you can to make someone's day. It doesn't take much. Smile, hold the door. You don't even have to get it back. Like, remember that everyone is in their own world, having their own experience. But you guys, you are so powerful. I wanna cry thinking how powerful we all are and how we all have the ability to make someone's day in these tiny moments where we have encounters with strangers, where we're sitting at a stoplight next to someone and someone crosses the street in front of us or we slow down to let someone cross, or we hold the door and it doesn't matter how they reciprocate to us. What matters is if you know that you tried to be a day maker. So I'm sending you guys so much love. And until next time, earn your happy. Bye, everyone. Foreign.
