You're going to want to be on there. All right, so today I am chatting with you about how to make decisions faster and stop wasting energy. This is pretty much an entire episode about how to make better decisions. And remember that success loves speed. So I want to start with the opening idea of every decision you make is either borrowing from your future Like a debt, or it's an investment into your future, like a deposit. So what is it going to be? This is a measurement and a statement that you can use for every decision that you make moving forward. Because everything that you're going to do today is either going to borrow from tomorrow, right down to the food that you're eating, right down to if you have alcohol, it's going to borrow sleep, it's going to borrow energy, you're going to be behind, or it's going to be an investment into your future to grow your dreams and to grow your bank account and to grow yourself. So when you're looking at the majority of the decisions that you make during the day, you just want to make sure that you are more in the positive than you are in the red. When you look at it this way, you kind of realize that you don't have to make every single freaking decision as an investment. There's going to be some that you're going to end up borrowing. Like no matter what, there's going to be some decisions that you're like, okay, well, I borrowed a little bit from my future. But if overall you're making investments that far outweigh the debt, you're going to be in the green, you're going to be in the profit, right? You're going to be in moving forward in your future. This kind of helps me with how I think of everything. It doesn't make me go, oh, I have to be a hundred percent in. I have to make a hundred percent great decisions. Not at all. You just have to make 60 to 70 to 80% great decisions or better decisions that are investing in your future in order to move forward. It's really easy to get overwhelmed. I used to be an all or nothing person. I know that's so surprising, like how I've run my life. Pretty obvious. And now I can't really function that way anymore. I think in the beginning, depending on what we're coming from and the type of personalities that we have, sometimes in the beginning we can just. The pendulum can swing so far to the other side. And that's just always how I've learned, is that it's like I'll go to an extreme in order to figure out what the middle looks like. It's like I go to an extreme burnout and realize, oh, that's not sustainable, let's try that again. I go to another extreme burnout, realize, that's not sustainable, let's try it again. And all of a sudden, years later, I find Myself somewhere in the middle going, did I really have to learn the lesson that way? And yes, I did, but hopefully you don't have to learn that way. And you can borrow some of this information from me to not have to go to the extreme. So I went and found a couple of my favorite personal development online bestie mentors and looked up and did some research on how they handle decision making. So this one is from Mel Robbins and she has something called the 10-10-10 rule. And she says to ask yourself, how's this decision going to affect me in 10 minutes? How is this decision going to affect me in 10 months? How will it affect me in 10 years? And if you can't immediately see if this is going to be an investment into your future or this is causing a debt and you're bankrupting your future, then this set of questions is also going to help you. Right, because 10 minutes. How will this affect me in 10 minutes? Well, you still might be enjoying that big ass meal that you're about to eat, but how will it affect you in 10 months? Well, if you do this every day, you're not going to be fitting into your wardrobe and that's really going to suck. How will this affect me in 10 years? Well, I'm going to be in a place where maybe I feel like I can't come back from, from this state of horrible health that I'm in. Right. So that's a huge way that that can also add to knowing if this is an investment or a debt. This one is from Ed Mylett and it's called the two minute rule. He says if a decision takes less than two minutes to make or act on, don't overthink it, just do it. Like if it's something you can't figure out if you should do it or not, just go ahead and do it. And he says why it works is because it reduces decision fatigue and clears mental space for more significant choices. What's funny is I think that we go through years of yes and years of no. And for me, this is kind of what I did. I would have all of these opportunities come to me. This is especially when I first moved to LA and you know, living in Los Angeles, there's something that you could do every night, if not five things in a night. And I would have so much mental fatigue that I was like, you know what? I'm just gonna go and say yes to everything because I don't know what's for me and what isn't me. And by doing this year of yes. I actually got more clear on the fact that I now can trust my intuition and know what's a yes or no pretty darn quickly. But that didn't come until I had a year of yes. And I think this two minute rule is kind of a segue into a year of yes. If that's where you're at, if you're pretty clear, then write that one off. You don't even need it. Decide with your core values. This one is from Brendan Burchard. This is his alignment method. He says identify if the decision aligns with your top three core values or goals. Now this would have been huge for me to think about if I in the past, even during that year of yes, because I do feel like that got really overwhelming and I didn't even like have my three core values or goals clearly written down. I had way too many. It was way too confusing. So every decision felt really overwhelming, which drains you of energy. So first of all, making those top three goals or core values for the year will be huge because then you can just measure every single decision up against that, asking, will this move me closer or further from who I want to become and what do I want to accomplish? So that's going to help you reduce indecision, which will dramatically help you save energy. This one is from Jenna Kutcher. She says it's a visualization hack to act like your future self. Imagine you're already the person you want to become. How would they handle this decision? Would they hang out with this person? Would they go to this restaurant if it didn't have healthy food? Would they go to this party if they knew it was just going to bring them down? How would they handle it? This is going to help you cut through fear and self doubt. And it works because it bridges the gap between who you are now and who you aspire to be. So this is another one for, from Ed Mylet. He says to use the gut check, sit with each option for 10 seconds and say which one feels right in your body? Which one gives you energy? Which one kind of makes you feel expansive? If any of them. And I know that sometimes we are choosing between the best, worst decision and that's never easy. I'm going to say that again. Sometimes we only have tough decisions to make. So you're making the best, worst decision and it's just going down the rabbit hole of if I made this one, what does my life look like in a year or five years and if I made this one, what does my life look like? In a year or five years, right? And making that best, worst decision and knowing that honestly no decision is a bad decision when you truly understand that every single thing that happens in your life, you can create a valuable lesson from it. And I'm telling you, some of the things that I used to wish away are the things that now I'm the most grateful for because they've become the topics that I spe, that I've become known for and that I teach on and that I have a business based on. The things that you are solving for yourself and in your life are going to be the things that eventually make you money. So stop wishing them away and start seeing how fast you can get that lesson and get through it. So I want to remind you that not deciding is a decision, and not deciding is keeping your energetic battery open. It's like never allowing yourself and your brain to go into sleep mode. It's always draining the battery in the back of your head. So this year, I hope that this helps you make decisions faster in 2025. You guys, I'm so grateful for you. And until next time, earn your happy. Bye, everyone.
