Short video/audio excerpt where Lia Garvin describes a 'Snippets' template she created at Google to improve team communication: team members fill it weekly to report top wins, next-week priorities, and blockers. The snippet emphasizes benefits for recognition, prioritization, and surfacing unstated bottlenecks and mentions access via an email-like handle.
Tris and I have been together as long as we have, like 24 years now, because we have two times a day that we check in with each other and we forget about this with our teams. This is a tool that I built while I was working at Google called a Snippets template. The team fills it out every Friday and folks summarize, you know, top wins they've gotten done for the week, where they're focused next week and where they're stuck or struggling.
That's so good. Where do they get that?
Where do I get that? Yeah, so you get that@leahgarvin.com snippets and it literally works with teams big or small, because you can recognize wins, you know what the priorities are, and you know, where someone's stuck and not telling you because they didn't want to bother you. But there's actually a real big bottleneck.
This is so good because, let's be honest, we mean well, but we're all moving so quickly. We don't know what their wins were. We don't know what these snippets are. This is such a great tool. Like this will easily make you 100% better leader and have a hundred percent happier team because now they know they're getting recognized.
