Lori Harder explains why stepping into bigger roles requires more than ambition: you need the personal capacity to handle the money, uncertainty, and pressure that come with it. She reflects that she would have collapsed under her current workload years ago.
I'm playing a riskier game in my life right now. There's a lot more money involved. There's a lot more uncertainty involved. I think that I didn't realize that as you play a bigger game, like, it can get bigger.
I think that's such a great point to bring up for the audience, too, because I think people see people like you just are really successful big people, and it's like you have to be sculpted to hold that much. And that's what I'm realizing more in life, in my career. I'm like, oh, I wasn't given that opportunity or that thing because I actually didn't have capacity to hold it. I actually wasn't sculpted to have it.
I would have died even five years ago with what's going on in my life right now. Like, I would have crumbled to pieces.
You are being build and forged through fire to be able to do what it is that you want to do, and you have to trust that.
