One Thing We ALL Do to Self Sabotage (and How to Change It)

Lori Harder on the self-sabotage of saying no before you even try. She argues you bench yourself by letting hidden fears stop you, and that rejection is just part of starting. Release perfectionism, share your message, and stop rejecting yourself first.

I love it because it's near and dear to my heart. It's literally the thing that I did to myself that I had to get over. That I know that some of you are doing to yourselves. In fact, not just some of us are doing it to ourselves. We are on some unconscious, subconscious level. If we don't have the thing that we want, we are doing this thing to ourselves. Wouldn't you like to know what this is? Hey, everyone, welcome back to the podcast. It's time for another quickie because there's always time to fit in inspiration. And I have to tell you, I literally just hit stop on this because I live in California and I have. I live in a beach community and our homes are super close together, which I absolutely love. It's like such a communal feeling right by the beach. But you get everything that also comes with that because people are constantly walking by my window and I just made really awkward eye contact with this guy who gave me a look like, oh, God, we're we so live in la, California, slash Orange County. Because I'm sitting here with my podcast microphone by the window recording something. So recording this podcast. But anyway, it was just one of those moments where I was like, oh, hey, like, do I wave at you? Do we stop? I'm gonna stop this recording. But I just want to tell you that I have been a traveling mofo like this last week. I was in Arizona, and I think we did four. Four different events or four different things that I was there for back to back to back. So I got there on Tuesday. Wednesday, we did a giant team strategy session for 2025 and all of our offerings, which. Oh, my God, you're not gonna believe. One of the things that I'm doing. I'm kind of getting rid of a lot of stuff outside of Glocey in this podcast. It's my main focus. Glo in this podcast. Forever and ever, Amen. I'm pretty much getting very clear on exactly what I want to do to launch something in 2025 that I can't wait to have you be a part of. But it's absolutely not going to be for everyone. It's going to be for the people who are like, all right, this is my year. This is the year that I do something so big and so different and I stop wasting all of this time and all of this money trying all of these other things that I'm not sure on. And they're not really big commitments. I'm talking. This is going to be the big commitment that's going to call you up. So that's all I'm leaving right there. You'll hear more about it throughout the next few months. Yes, it's September. This will be starting in 2025, but I'll be starting a list for it if you guys are interested. I do not have it yet, but I. I can't wait. It's going to be an amazing group of people moving forward, super committed to each other's goals. So there's that little nugget. But also have to tell you that through all of my travels and events, you guys, I had two really big back to back events that I was speaking at. And then not just speaking, but kind of like meeting and greeting people afterward. A live podcast, an in person podcast with someone else. And this strategy day, it was just, it was a really full week of a lot of peopling, a ton of stuff, a lot of just different food and trying to keep myself healthy and so much energy where in the past I kind of like get out of my routine. And I have to tell you, this is literally why I'm so obsessed with my product. Like, this is why I was such an incredible marketer, like network marketer is because I just found the products that changed my life. And I was like, look, I can't talk about things that don't work for me. And I can talk till I'm blue in the face and sell till I'm blue in the face things that I'm obsessed with. And I really found like these two core items in network marketing that I just sold till the cows came home, you guys, like $18 million later. Because I was so freaking obsessed with them. And now I was like, if I'm going to create a product, it's got to be something that I am obsessed with that I can't stop talking about. That 1 million percent works for me. And that is what gloce is. I don't feel bloated. I traveled, I ate I did the things. I don't feel crazy. I slept amazing. Because my main goals were bloat and skin. And when you go for the gut and when you use something that's so freaking awesome, like the probiotic that we have that's really aimed at digestion, and it has all of these clinical studies on it, and you also add things like hyaluronic acid, and you have magnesium and prickly pear and all these different things that not only help keep you hydrated, but really go after making you feel less bloated and you're super nourished. You guys, there is a reason why I'm able to do all of these things right now. Yes, of course. I also do the best to watch my food. But I'm telling you, I have a glossy in the morning, I have a glossy at night, and if I can, I have a glossy in the afternoon when I am traveling. I'm neurotic about it. It and so is Chris. It keeps me from snacking at night. I'm like, nope, it's glossy time. And then I know, like, I'm going to sleep good because the magnesium and I'm just going to feel better, and I'm going to wake up and not feel bloated. So go and try it. Take the glossy challenge. Take one in the morning, take one at night. Let me know how you feel in 30 days. I'm telling you, it's a game changer. And you can get 25% off with the coupon code. Head happy. Okay, now back to the thing that I was saying that I know so many of us are doing. We're not going to do it anymore. So I saw this post from a podcaster the other day. I was actually on her podcast recently. She's in Chris's elite mastermind as well. Her name is Liz Moody. She has an awesome podcast, and she had done this big post about this saying that completely changed her life. And I was like, ooh, girl, I need to know what this is, because I'm sure I have, like, my belief systems and my thoughts around something similar, right? Because we all have these things that we just cling onto that really, like, we have these moments that change our life and these phrases that change our life, and there's multiple of them. And so I was scrolling through, and her quote was, never be the one to say no to yourself. And it immediately hit me because I have kind of, like this thought and idea around that that I always say to myself that I came up with through times that I realized I was saying no to myself. And it's, don't bench yourself before the game begins. Like, we're constantly saying no before we even try. Like, ooh, I want to start that event. I want to do that big event. And I would love it to be huge and have 500 women one day, or a thousand women one day, or a hundred women one day, whatever it is. And it's like, oh, no, I can't do that because she's doing it. No, I can't do it because I don't know enough about it. Nope, that's not for me. No, I'm not going to be able to do that because I have panic attacks and I'm afraid of doing it. We are the only ones in between the life that we want to be living. We are the only obstacle in between the person that we know we came here to be. We are the only people saying no to us. And I know you're thinking right now, like, oh, no, no, Lori, I got someone that said no over here, and I got rejected over here, and I got people who aren't asking for me to be on stages over here. I get it. I totally get it. But if you are the one who gets one rejection, five rejections, or even up to 10 rejections, and you're like, oh, see, I'm not good enough for that. That is you saying no to yourself. Because you are the only one who can accept no as the answer if you reject it. If you get no's here and there, if you get no's a few times. If you get no's 5 times, 10 times. Look, now you're just getting started. You haven't even gotten to the starting line, quite honestly, if you haven't gotten rejected multiple, multiple, multiple times. Like, if you haven't gotten rejected over 10 times over the same thing, you literally haven't even gotten to the starting line. Like, you just started your quad stretch. Like, you've got 10 more minutes to go on different stretches to even start the rejection that you need to experience or that you're going to experience before you start experiencing successes. So don't be the one who says no to yourself. When I first wanted to write a book, I had so many things in my head that I would think about myself because I'm like, okay, girlfriend, you didn't even graduate from high school. Like, you have trouble, you know, editing your own stuff. Like, writing is really frustrating to you because you don't even know how to put a proper paragraph together. Like, how in the hell do you think that you're gonna write a book. And something that I knew about myself is that I had a lot to say. I had learned a lot. I was able to teach a lot of my friends. I was able to talk to a lot of people online on all of the things that I had learned from the lessons of failing, on all the things that I had learned that I had done. And I knew in my heart it was super valuable. And there was actually a part of me that knew that the ultimate underdog, writing a book who didn't graduate from high school and essentially had an 8th grade education like that girl writing a book could be more impactful than someone with a master's degree telling somebody who doesn't have a master's degree what to do. Do you feel me? Like, do you know what I'm saying? Are you picking up what I'm putting down? Do you understand that the thing that you are struggling with, the thing that you think is holding you back, is the exact reason why you should do the thing, but you're saying no to yourself over the exact reason why it's going to work? The bigger the struggle, the bigger the barrier, the bigger the underdog story you feel that you have. I'm telling you, your purpose is so much bigger. You need to put it out there. Don't bench yourself before the game starts. I know that you already know exactly where you're doing it. I don't even have to tell you. I know that you already know what you're doing, how you're stopping yourself, and what form and flavor of sabotage is your favorite. And what you're doing to stop taking action, what you're doing to stop that email, what you're doing to stop working that little bit extra at night, because you know you just need to do a little bit extra to get it done. Because maybe you have a job, maybe you have kids, whatever it is, but. But there's something going on that you keep benching yourself and you keep pulling yourself out of the game because there's a belief or a fear that's even more hidden that maybe you have to say out loud. Maybe you need to write down the fact that you're afraid of success because you think that maybe there's more work that comes with it. You think that maybe more people are going to judge you. You think that maybe you'll be rejected by your family. But what I want you to do is I want you to write that down. Like, what is that fear that is stopping you and causing you to continue Picking this flavor of sabotage over and over and over again. Because there's something underneath that that's a lot bigger now. I want you to write that out. I want you to write out all the fears, all the things, oh, my God, I'm gonna get canceled. Oh, my God, my family's gonna make fun of me at Christmas. Oh, my God, I'm gonna lose this much money. Oh, my God, these people are gonna say this. I'm gonna get these comment. These nasty comments. Like these other people get comments. Yes, yes, yes. More. Yes, yes, those things could happen. But if that happens and maybe you lose a friend or two over it, or some family members are rude to you, doesn't that just actually reveal who those people are and make you wanna double down on the people who support you? Doesn't that just make you say, my God, thank God I don't have to live as that version of myself that was kind of made up and not even real. And I had to kind of act like somebody else that I wasn't whenever I was in those situations. Like, I'm so sick of living that way. There is so much freedom that actually comes from people telling you who they actually are by revealing themselves when you become who you are. Because when you step into this next level version of yourself, it's impossible for inauthentic people to stick around. When you decide to step into the authentic version of yourself, it's like a repellent. It's literally like a perfume repellent that you spray on yourself. And it repels people who aren't authentic. And that comes in the form of upset people, negative people, people who make fun of you, people who say, are waiting for you to fail, whatever that is. You guys. And so I just want you to remember that you are the only person in the way of your dreams. And you can literally do anything you want. But do not be the person who says no to yourself before other people do, before the final word is spoken. And I have to tell you, there's no final word ever if you don't give it. There's no final word ever if you don't give it. Anything is possible. You can pivot at any time. And rejection is literally just the barrier of entrance. So don't get distracted by it, you guys. I'm sending you so much love, and I just know who you are. You know, if you've been listening for a while, I feel like I know your heart. I know that you are somebody who really has a lot to say and really has a lot to give. And maybe you're feeling a little frustrated and a little bit in pain because you're not able to deliver that message in the way that you hope. And it's a journey. But the journey that I pray that you take is one that you don't let anybody else say no to you and you figure out a way for you to come out with your message no matter what is going on. When you think about social media, you guys, there is no barrier of entry for your message. You're the only one saying that you can't go on TikTok right now and say how you feel all the time. You're the only one saying to yourself that your video needs to be higher quality and more edited. You're the only one saying to yourself, oh my God, I can't start a podcast. What am I going to say? What if I bumble through it? Like, listen to me tonight, okay? I don't have this all scripted. I literally come on and I say, you know what? I'm going to say a whole lot of things and it's going to be a little sloppy. It might go a little here, might go a little there. But I say a prayer before I get in the mic and I ask that I say things that are going to hit people, that are going to get to them, that are going to make them do the thing that they want to do, and I let it be. Okay, that's a little bit messy or a lot of bit messy. Some of you perfectionists might be like, oh my God, like, I can't even listen to this anymore. I don't care because I won't be able to give you this message if I give myself the expectation that it has to be perfect. So I'm over it. Like, most of these are spoken into my phone and that has to be good enough because that's the only way it's gonna happen. But you know what? I have something that I wanna say and I know I need to say it and I have to let go of perfectionism and I also have to let go of negative comments or whatever that is. Like, they don't even really phase me anymore because I know that my message is too big and my message is not even from me. It's like the whole purpose that we were all put on this planet is to say what's on our heart and help people get to where they wanna go. So I'm sending you guys so much love and I'm really grateful for you listening and I'm pretty sure I just see my husband's Uber pull up out in front of the house. So I'm gonna go because I haven't seen him for, like, three days, and I miss him and I love him. So, anyway, you guys, I'm sending you so much love. And until next time, earn your happy. Bye, everyone. It.
