After divorce, Speaker B won't make out on first dates. Speaker A realized his jealousy came from poor communication, so he told his partner Chris he wouldn't attend bachelor parties with strippers. Chris accepted it. They've been together 23 years, married 19, and never argued about jealousy.
I have boundaries. I'm single. I went through a divorce. So then let's talk about dating, right?
Physically, I'm not like a hookup girl at all. I'm not like that. I'm not even talking like fully intimate. I just mean I'm not gonna like make out with you the first day I date you. I make it known. I say like, this is my boundary.
I'm so glad you're sharing that because overly clear communication is going to give you a life of peace. It's actually going to make your life so freaking amazing. Chris and I were not married yet, but we were seriously dating. Before Chris, I was like known as being very jealous, and I had the realization it was as a result of me not communicating. And so when Chris and I were dating, he had gotten invited to like one of his best friend's bachelor party, and there were going to be strippers there. For me, that had always triggered me more than I can possibly tell you. And so I communicated to him, I'm like, look, I understand if this is like too much for you, but for me in a relationship, this is a no-go. He was like, oh, okay. And I can tell you that Chris and I have never, ever, ever argued once in 23 years of being together, 19 years married, of being jealous ever once.
