Speaker B argues that paying customers come first, not branding or a business plan. Many companies hit six or seven figures through strong marketing alone, but sustainable growth requires actual product-market fit.
How is your business set up to make money? How did you crack that code?
First, you need paying customers. That's where I think a lot of people go wrong. They start with a business plan or they start with a website or a logo and they don't have customers. And if you don't have customers, you don't have a business. You have a business idea.
Then it moves to product market fit.
You can get to 6 figures, maybe even 7 figures without product market fit, which is good marketing or good sales or kind of muscling it.
But then How do you sustainably do that? You gotta have product market fit.
Then it's profit. We reached 7 figures early on and I realized I'm broke and I'm running a 7-figure business. Because we had no profit, we had no margin. Then it's people and process. So how do we hire and develop the best team possible? And then how do we create process so that it's scalable and so that it doesn't depend on me?
