The Power of In Person Connection for Your Business

Podcast/Youtube episode transcript of Lori and Chris Harder discussing the business value of in-person events and mastermind reunions (the ‘bonfires and bonding’ Elite Mastermind reunion), plus a short product promo for their supplement Glosi. They emphasize how multi-day, in-person gatherings deepen relationships, surface root problems, and generate business opportunities; include anecdotes (a member building a mountain home) and event details (wake-surfing, pickleball, dinners, kickoff at Wisconsin Maritime Museum). A brief ad mentions Glosi contains zinc, uses eight key ingredients at meaningful doses, and offers 25% off with code HAPPY at getglo.com.

So much more happens in person. I think that you start digging into the root of the real problems. I think that you start talking about things you wouldn't normally talk about, but you hear us preach about it on almost every podcast. Because if you're coming to tune in to hear what's worked for us, this is it.
And we're back with another episode of.
He Said, she Said.
All right, babe, we've been kicking these off with glossy tips. What's your glossy tips tip?
Well, I did not take a zinc supplement before I started taking Glosi. And one of the big reasons we wanted to put zinc in was zinc has been known to help with skin texture and helping clear skin, but also it's great for overall immunity and wellness, too. Like, you guys know, you've heard from people, if you get sick, you should go take a bunch of zinc. But it's good to also be taking zinc on a regular basis. And so we put a small dose of zinc in there, which is incredible for your wellness. It's been known to help shorten the duration of colds. So I love that. I now know that I'm getting that every day.
Now, I'm not going to call out other supplements, but you said you put a small dose in. I remember specifically, you guys only put, what, six key ingredients, or do you remember how many it was?
Eight.
Eight. Okay. And that's because you didn't want trace amounts just to say it's on the box like everybody else does, which is one of the biggest scams in the planet, if you ask me. You put amounts that actually make a difference, and that's why you. You whittled it down to those eight key ingredients. Is that right?
Yeah, we didn't want to. You know, it's really easy in the supplement world to be like, let's put everything in and try to solve every problem. But when you put everything in as a supplement company, too, like, good ingredients, the ingredients that we use, they're expensive. And so when you look at other products that have 70 ingredients in them and they're priced at, you know, a moderate price point, you're like, then how much of this ingredient could actually be in here? Because this product would have to be, like, $300.
Yeah, exactly. Get this. Exactly.
So, yeah, we wanted to make sure that we put in amounts that can help with results.
Yep. So if it's in there, you can count on it actually creating a result for you. I love it. And we've got a special discount for you guys. Lori, how did they get it?
It is code happy and you get 25% off.
Use coupon code HAPPY. Go to get GLOI. That's G L O C I.com getglo.com Use coupon code HAPPY for 25% off. That's all only for our listeners. Like, literally the other discounts aren't that big. Is that right?
Yes.
Love it. Okay, cool. So we have our elite Mastermind reunion trip coming up, which is the freaking coolest thing on the planet. We started doing this a few years ago, and when I say alumni trip or reunion trip, it basically means any members that renewed from one year to the next, one of the perks is they get a third trip. And sometimes we host it in Park City. Sometimes we host it up here at our lake house. Last year was at the lake house. This one's up here at the lake house. And we kind of bounce it around a little bit for variety, because some people stay for year after year after year and they don't want to do the same vacation. But one of the things I love is we let them bring their significant others or their spouses and we get to know them. And that is kicking off tonight, and I cannot freaking wait. And you and I just got done with our walk, and we're talking about the benefits of getting together. How even you and I benefit when we get together with these groups that we run and just how important it is to have these concentrated, intentional groups that are very business heavy. Even though this trip is, you know, we call it bonfires and bonding business heavy, in that everybody is an entrepreneur running at the same pace, in the same direction because it's where your all your answers come from.
We've always been so passionate about events and get togethers and even just meeting people in person because it takes your relationship from offline to in person, obviously, which so much more happens in person. I think that you start digging into the root of the real problems. I think that you start talking about things you wouldn't normally talk about. I think that it takes one to two to sometimes three days to actually get to the meat of what some of the problems are and to also really bonding and connecting. That was one of the reasons that we wanted the lake house. And not just that. We also try to, when we have friends that we really want to see in our future, connect with more. We're like, let's go on a trip. Let's rent a house together. Let's have them to the lake house and stay for three days. Because it's those Moments where you are taking long walks, where you're having coffee in the morning, where you're around a bonfire just chilled out, you start to feel like you don't have to be somebody else or show up a certain way. You can start to talk about the real things, and that's where you really connect. And then that's where, like I said, you also get to the root of the problems.
Yeah, totally. I'll give you example. When you have a few days with somebody, instead of just quickly dipping in and out, and more, more importantly, when you're in person with those people, first you build an actual relationship. Then you get around to talking about your needs and those types of things. And the difference in the way people show up for you when you first build the actual relationship is night and day. Like, there's people that you know online that'll help you and that want to help you for sure, no doubt. But in person, you just can't replace the kind of relationship that you form over the course of a few days. If you stay together, hang out together, cook together, whatever it might be. And then you really go to bat for each other. That's where all those incredible solutions come from. I'll give you an example. Last year. You're going to love this example. Remember, we did the Elite Mastermind reunion trip up here at the lake house, just like we are this year. So here we are exactly one year later. Well, last year, one of the members had an opportunity to build their dream mountain home, but they were reluctant to do it. So we spent a few days talking about, okay, what's the upside of taking the risk? Because we're talking a very expensive build. What's the downside of taking the risk? The opportunity suddenly fell in their lap. So it's not like this was a big preplanned thing anyways. And here we are a year later. The thing is almost complete. Not quite. It's a big house. But since they started building it, it's worth millions and millions more than it was just last year when they had the opportunity to say yes to starting to build it. And we flushed through that as a group by the bonfire, the on the boat. We literally flushed through it. I got to meet her husband and. And he and I texted back and forth some ideas about it. All of that because of these intentional type of get togethers.
Okay, so we have a bunch of cool stuff planned, and your team has made this absolutely amazing.
Oh, they're the best.
What are you going to do to create these bonds? And what are they going to do while they're here.
Here's why we call it bonfires and ponding is because I am a firm believer that when you have fun together and when you kind of challenge yourself together, that's when the best of bonds are created. So, like tonight we kicked the whole thing off. We rented out the Harder Memorial deck at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum up in Door county there. And that's the deck that was dedicated to our family and my dad and that big ten story tower that they built. And it's going to be special to host it there, the kickoff reception, because here it is, Dad's tower that wouldn't exist without dad. And I'm going to tell them about the significance of that, how it's related to their business, how dad had to go out and raise all the money for the maritime museum and take the big risk for this tower that, by the way, they said they wanted to build for 20 years. Nobody got around to building it until he was chairman of the board and president, said, wait, we can build this thing. Look, you go raise money, so you do this. So we're going to host it there. That'll be incredibly special to me. But more importantly, a neat, tangible metaphor, if you will, for their businesses. Take the risk, build the tower, so to speak. And then tomorrow they come down to the lake house and we're going to take them out boating and wake surfing. And most of them don't know how to wake surf, but they're all going to try. And they did this last year and it was so much fun until I broke the prop on the boat that was the worst. Hit a rock and broke the prop. But it's so fun to watch them learn that they can do something that they didn't do before and it gives them new confidence. But more importantly, as we're all hanging out on the boat, they're having good conversations, they're cheering each other on, and that bond is being formed as they all take risk and do something that, you know, most of them haven't done before. And by the way, you're not forced to go on the boat. A lot of them just sit back here by the fire. We've got live guitarists, we have caterers, we have everything. So we're talking like the ultimate backyard party at the lake house here, if you will. But most of them do choose to try and learn how to wake surf, which is really cool. And then the day after that, we're hosting a big pickleball tournament up in Door county. And half have played Half have not. But it's going to be so much fun because, again, it's a chance to get competitive with each other. They form different teams, so we're going to try and partner them up with maybe people they haven't spent as much time with in the Mastermind yet and just really work on those relationships. Then they have dinners together. We made sure that we gave them a whole list of places to book dinners at in their free time so they can kind of rise to the occasion. A couple people took charge and made all these reservations so they can go out together. I'm telling you, these are the situations where you meet lifelong friends that happen to also be good at business with you.
This has been the key to all of our success. And really dropping in and meeting people, and it doesn't take very long to do it feels like a big commitment. But you hear us preach about it on almost every podcast, because if you're coming to tune in to hear what's worked for us, this is it.
Yeah. Well, let me ask you for an example. You have a mastermind that you're a part of, and it's got incredible women in it. What is something that you have gotten out of the Mastermind by getting together? And it could be personal or business.
I mean, there are so many things. Even just getting together for the weekends has allowed me to open up. I'll say the biggest thing is that it's really allowed us all to open up. Regular text communication that doesn't feel like I'm bugging people. So it's like, oh, we've dropped in for weekends at a time, and now it's like we're friends. So nothing on the text thread feels like, oh, I feel like I would really love to ask this person this thing, but I feel like we're acquaintances and I'm not sure. So if anything else, I mean, like, out of the most basic everything, this text thread is very active with everybody just popping in for little needs. Or like, hey, what do you guys think of this? Or with my podcast starter was like, could you vote on this and tell me why? Like, what do you think? And it's all people with amazing podcasts. So for me, it's just been a lot of access. Once you create those relationships and connections where you don't feel like you're in it alone.
I love that. And these are relationships. You know, I'm thinking of some of them. I'm not going to say them, but they're ones that you probably wouldn't have without getting Together?
No.
A couple times a year. Like you guys do.
Heck no.
Yeah, and we're talking like really beneficial relationships, but it gives you permission. Like, okay, good. Now we're friends. Now I can text these questions, whereas before you wouldn't have had them as a resource.
No, not at all.
I love that. Well, we got to get going because we actually have to stuff the gift bags that they're going to get when they check in and I can't wait to go see everybody. But if you guys want to join our Elite Mastermind, it's not open for enrollment for several months yet, but we do interview people in a first come first serve order, meaning interviews will start end of October, beginning November.
