Short monologue (YouTube) presenting the idea that relationships function like a bank account: regular small positive "deposits" (acts of support, playing to strengths) are necessary to cover inevitable "withdrawals" (conflicts, mistakes) so the relationship doesn't overdraft and become hard to repair. The speaker endorses making frequent positive contributions in partnerships, including leveraging each partner's strengths.

In marriage counseling. The pastor who we worked with said that in life, every relationship, your business, your personal, your marriage or children is like a bank account. There are always going to be withdrawals, right? Somebody's going to make you mad. Somebody's going to do it wrong. There's going to be withdrawals. So you have to make sure you're making enough little deposits into that bank account so that when there's a withdrawal, you don't overdraft the account. Because once you overdraft that account, it is so hard to dig yourself out of the hole. Because every time you hit another overdraft, you're getting a $25 fee. All of a sudden you're 1000 dol in the hole, and there aren't enough little deposits to get you back to zero. And to be able to get back to that baseline, we have to make sure we're making little deposits. By letting people play into their superpowers and do the things that they're good at has been a way that we've really been able to strengthen each other in our partnership. Oh, man, I love that so much. It's such a great analogy.
