Mark Ottobre ranks high-protein snacks head-to-head: Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, hard-boiled eggs, and beef jerky beat almonds, peanut butter rice cakes, protein bars, and canned tuna. He warns that eating too much tuna risks mercury buildup.
Low-fat Greek yogurt versus almonds.
Definitely low-fat yogurt because almonds don't have as much protein and are much higher in calories per serve.
Low-fat cottage cheese versus rice cakes with peanut butter.
Definitely low-fat cottage cheese. Per serving, you're getting a lot more protein. With the peanut butter and rice cakes, you're getting a lot more calories per serve.
Hard-boiled eggs versus protein bar.
I'm gonna go for whole foods, hard-boiled eggs over the protein bar.
Beef jerky versus tuna can.
Ooh, definitely beef jerky. Even though it's higher on the calories, I prefer to have the jerky. Having too much tuna does have mercury and that can accumulate in the body.
Low-fat Greek yogurt Yogurt versus low-fat cottage cheese.
I'm gonna go for yogurt simply because that's what I prefer, but you could interchange them because calories are almost the same.
Hard-boiled eggs versus beef jerky.
I'm gonna go the eggs simply because I prefer whole food that hasn't been processed.
Low-fat Greek yogurt versus hard-boiled eggs.
If I'm on a calorie deficit, I'm gonna go for the yogurt. If I'm not so much concerned about that, I'm gonna go for the eggs. Follow my page for more.
