In this instructional video, the presenter demonstrates the correct execution of a chest‑supported lateral raise using a bench set at a 60‑75° incline. He guides demonstrator Jason through the setup, emphasizing a stable, supported position that eliminates lower‑body momentum and forces the lateral deltoid to bear the load. Detailed verbal cues cover lat depression, shoulder positioning, elbow alignment, and the “reach out” motion to maximize muscle tension. The presenter highlights biomechanical advantages such as reduced cheating, increased deltoid activation, and the ability to train to failure safely. The video concludes with a call to subscribe for more training tips.

I'm going to show you the correct way to do a chest supported lateral raise. We have Jason here. Jason, if you want to grab the dumbbells, you're going to be doing this lateral raise. It's a great variation because it cuts out any swinging momentum, the lower body, and really just places all the tension inside of that lateral raise. So setting the bench up at approximately a 60-degree angle, 60-75-degree angle, and he's going to raise now through the lats, the lateral delts. So you can see here, and staying in that protracted position, so keep, keep, pull your lats down, depress first of all. Now come up with your delt to the side. There you go, up nice and, and think of it, reach for me where I am. Reach, reach, reach out, reach out, reach out, get nice and wide. There you go. And suck your belly button into your spine and reach out. This is a really great variation because as I said, you can't cheat. You're nice and supported, and all of the tension really is on that lateral delt as you do it. And you can see Jason's demonstrating it beautifully, that side delt. And also the other benefit of this is the elbows and their shoulders do hang forward as well, which then creates more tension. So you can really take this one nicely to failure. Obviously, if you've got no shoulder impedance, then you can take this one really to the end range. And let's keep the tension as we do this, Jason. So as soon as you come down, straight back up, straight back up. There you go, and straight back up. Beautiful, do one more for me. And straight back up. Excellent, good.
