Three cues for a solid deadlift: reach for the bar, load weight into your heels, then pull up from the sternum. The reach matters enough to repeat.

Thought this was an injury. That's also good. Oh, there we go. For most people, when they do the deadlift, firstly, set up. Don't pick up the bar, reach for the bar. The next thing is I want to load my heels, and the third and final thing is lift up from the sternum. Reach, reach, reach, reach, reach, reach, reach. That's the initiation point. I'm loading up my heels, and then from here I'm pulling up my sternum, and then I'm standing up.
