You don't need more time in the gym, you need to train smarter. Here's how. So before you even go into the gym, make sure you have a plan that is laid out— what you're working and when, sets, reps, exercises, and the goal that you're trying to achieve. Your plan should be laid out so when you go to the gym there is no guesswork. Warm up with purpose. The ideal warm-up warms up your joints and muscles for the workout ahead. Don't rush your warm-ups, make sure you get them done and get them done well. Most people when they train, they just go through the motions. What you want to do is you want to make sure that every rep counts. The best way to do that is to stabilize before you start any exercise by locking in and putting your whole body into each rep. Most people wander aimlessly in the middle of their rest periods, checking their phone, checking Instagram, and just wasting time. You want to make sure you adhere to your rest times strictly because it does alter your training effect. My tip: get yourself a stopwatch that alerts you when the rest time is over. After a solid workout, make sure you focus on nutrition. You don't want to go from workout to workout fatigued and depleted. You want to nourish yourself so that you can recover and perform for the next workout. Make sure you follow Mark Ottobre for more tips like this.
