Mark Ottobre explains that hardship tests character like rough seas test a mariner. Real growth isn't about never slipping back into old habits, but how fast you catch yourself and adjust.
Smooth seas have never made for a skilled mariner. You want an easy life or do you want hard problems that make you better? And because I believe personally, like everyone talks about character and all these kinds of things, but it's easy to say you are high character when times are easy. That's not when you see character. Character is like a pressure test.
I think that's where it's— you're never there. You're always bettering and learning and growing and slipping up. And during those tough times, you might revert back to old behavior for a moment, but it's how quickly you can take accountability, realize that, and grow from it. It's a constant journey.
