The Dilts Model is a six-level pyramid for change, from purpose and identity at the top down to results at the base. Here's a hidden psychological framework that will completely change the way you look at getting results. It's called the DILTS model. At the top of the DILTS model pyramid, you have your purpose. Below the purpose is your identity. Below identity is beliefs and values, then skills and skill sets, then your behaviors, then your results/environment. Most people, when creating change, they think about their environment. They think about who are they surrounded by. But here's the trick. Change seldomly flows up, but always, always flows down. Think of The Biggest Loser. People go from The Biggest Loser in their environment, and they go to an environment that is set for rapid change. Everyone on The Biggest Loser loses weight. But what happens when they get out of The Biggest Loser? They go back to their old environment. And as you've watched the Netflix documentary, they put the weight back on. But true change starts with our identity. It starts with questioning our beliefs and values. It starts with taking on new skills and skill sets. That enable us to have different behaviors, which create different outcomes. Change will always flow down, but seldom flows up.
