Hold a stick at shoulder width overhead with straight arms, then squat as deep as you can. This reveals tight pecs, weak lats, or shoulder issues that limit your range of motion. Film from a 45-degree angle to see where you're restricted.

This is the overhead squat assessment. To do this, you need a stick or a broomstick. You are going to have a biochromial grip, which basically means just from your shoulders out, and you're going to place the bar overhead. Now, I don't want you doing a snatch grip, I don't want you wide. It's going to make it easier. Again, this is an assessment. It's going to show us what's happening at the hips whilst what's also happening at the upper body and how much you can thoracic extend. And this can also help identify shoulder issues. Feet are together. Arms straight above. Now, if you can't get into this position, that's completely fine. You're still going to do the test, right? Some people, a lot of clients, they might even be here. That's their— they're locked through their shoulders, they've got tight pecs, they've got weak lats, they've got weak upper back. Completely fine. Again, this is just an assessment to see where you're at. So you're up here. Now, this is a challenge test. So you can see as I move, right, my body needs strength in my upper back to keep up tall. So I come all the way down and I come all the way up. Do the test to the best of your ability. If you're locked up, if you're here, if you're there, do it. So make sure you film this one at 45-degree angle.
