Hi, it's Mark, author of The Truth About Supplements. Welcome to Class 2. In our last class, I said I was going to teach you about supplements that would help you feel better, recover better, sleep better, have more energy, burn more fat, and build more muscle. And I said my guess was that you weren't taking it. And no, I wasn't joking. That supplement is none other than, drum roll please, a green drink. Now, mister and miss bodybuilder, please don't scoff. I've trained 2 Australian champions and a Miss Olympia and other countless bodybuilders, as you can see here. So I'm telling you, this supplement is crucial. In fact, I was consulting for a bodybuilder just the other day and he was telling me that every time he diets, he wakes up in the middle of the night. Well, I told him that this is usually because the body is lacking antioxidants and nutrients, and in cutting out foods, he's also cutting out essential things, thus the reason for his problem. By the way, it's not normal to wake up in the middle of the night. So if you are, try increasing both your antioxidant intake and vitamin and mineral intake. Easiest way I solve these two problems for most people is adding a green drink and adding vitamin C, as you can see there. With a green drink, preferably I would opt for one that is derived from green, organic green vegetables, opposed to one that is derived from something like spirulina. Not that spirulina is necessarily a bad thing, Mr. and Mrs. Spirulina. When talking about green drinks, it's hard not to talk about alkalinity. Alkalinity is the optimal environment in which the body burns fat and builds muscle. So, many experts crap on and tell you high protein diets are acidic. Well, I got news for you, buster. The most acidic thing you can do for your body is exercise. So if you're exercising, yep, going to be acidic. So does that mean to stop exercising? Well, of course not, as you can see me exercising there. Regular exercise is a part of health and I think a part of life. What this does mean, however, is that the body's pH level will tip back and forth in the quest to a better body and better health. and you can tip the control balance in your favor faster by supplementing with a green drink. I have a green drink straight after training as a part of my post-workout nutrition, and often first thing in the morning. I highly recommend green drinks as a daily part of your supplement regime. Now, vitamin C. The best value for money vitamin C will be the Malrose vitamin C in the purple bag, as you can see the picture there, and there's the arrow for you. And oh, and if you don't like things that have a harsh taste, opt for the capsules because this does have an extremely harsh taste but is extremely beneficial and great value for money. Vitamin C is relatively inexpensive. Most people, especially people like you and I who train hard, will benefit from vitamin C. You need it to effectively boost the immune system. And remember folks, muscle building is correlated with how strong your immune system is. It's pretty easy to tell if you're taking too much vitamin C as you'll get diarrhea. So just, you might want to lower the dose if that's happening to you.
