Colour Expert: What Your Clothes Are Subconsciously Attracting | Kate Harrison

Colour specialist Kate Harrison explains how colour functions as a frequency that influences mood and manifestation. She describes using red for confidence, yellow for clarity, and finding your

You can have grey periods in your life. You can lose your colour altogether. I did. My wardrobe was grey, my diet was beige, and I very rarely opened the curtains. You know, my mood dictated my colour choices. But I knew I was starting this business again, and I knew I really wanted to help people through colour. So I embodied it, and I wore a bright yellow jacket, walked into this all-female networking, and every single woman in that room wanted to talk to me. I wore yellow because I wanted to be that.
So when you're selecting your wardrobe, So you are saying, think about the day you've got ahead, intentionally select the colour based on that because the, the energy, the frequency of that colour is gonna help support the day ahead and what you've got on.
100%. And intentionally select it. Put yourself in the frequency.
Yeah.
And you'll be surprised what happens. It's like we've forgotten about what we can see. Mm.
Right.
Colour bypasses our conscious brain completely.
Right.
Straight to the subconscious. So I use colour every year in my manifestation. I manifest something, 7 manifestations around the colours.
Wow.
I love that. If Matt and I talk about achieving something in the future, we always talk about what can we do now to embody that version of us.
Yeah.
So for anyone listening, how does that happen?
Well, all these colours are giving us cues, so there might not be a cure, but they are definitely a cue.
You are saying really you need to find on that colour spectrum where you need to be energetically.
Yeah.
And start living in that colour.
One of these colours will be a colour of your energy and understanding your soul shade. That's your superpower.
What is Soulshade. Kate, welcome to Beyond. It's great to have you with us.
I'm beyond excited about this chat. I'm so happy to be here. Thank you for having me.
And thank you for coming all the way from Cheshire this morning on the train as well.
I've enjoyed every minute of it. I've just been working and this place is a vibe.
So we say, don't we, before we get into it, we love the undisturbed time on the train to get work done.
Honestly.
And nobody can get in touch with you because there's no signal.
Yeah, it's like going undercover.
Yeah, it might be dipping out.
You're like, Great.
Brilliant.
Yeah. Perfect. Even if it's not, I'm like, ah, ah, ah.
Yes, I'm here.
Do not disturb. That's it.
Yeah.
Anyway, without going too far off subject here, we are so genuinely excited, fascinated to dive into this conversation.
Very excited.
For anyone finding you, Kate, for the first time, in your own words, how would you describe what it is that you do?
It's interesting, isn't it? I, what do I do? I basically help people to shift their energy, and I have turned colour into a wellbeing tool. That's what I do. I help people to intentionally shift their mood, shift their energy to how they want it to be for the day using colour.
Wow.
I love that.
And of course, we use colour every day, whether we know it consciously or not. And like I said to you off camera and to Corisande, you know, what fascinates me is how we can use color, obviously, to manifest our best life, which is what we're gonna get into. But I think first it'd be really interesting to understand what got you into color. Like, take us back to, I think you said you were a stylist for sort of 20 years.
I was.
Take us there.
But before that, even before that, my dad was an art teacher.
Ah, interesting.
Yeah. So our house was quite colorful. I mean, it was the '80s, so we had, Kind of bright red kitchen, green doors. It was quite psychedelic. He was an art teacher, and he— so there was art on all of our walls. And actually, my first instance of thinking, I can feel colour, it was totally subconscious. I used to, if I was feeling a little bit down, or if I just wanted to feel secure, I used to go to my dad's tie rack. Now, I know that sounds really weird, but in the '80s, everyone wore ties, okay? Especially art teachers, really jazzy ties. Yeah, we absolutely used to do this, yeah. Lots of different pattern, lots of different colour. And I would stand and press those ties up to my face, and I'd just feel great, and I loved it. And that really was the first thing, and it's really taken me to reconnect with that, that I felt fizzy. That's the only thing that I can say. It just felt like I was feeling something, and it was exciting.
Oh.
So, even from that moment, I was like, oh, I love this. So, fast forward, yes, I absolutely was a stylist. I worked in retail, did a retail marketing degree, And a lot of that was to do with marketing and branding, and so there was an element of colour involved in that. I worked in retail, so I was working for designers like Armani, and then I worked for Selfridges for a while and did some visual merchandising and thought, I love this, I want to do this as a career. Ended up doing Marks& Spencer's management training, thought, this is great, but actually what I loved was people. And that's what I realized was actually, it wasn't the clothes that I loved. It was the connection with the people that I loved and the way those clothes could help them shift their mood and shift their energy and almost dress them for their future lives. So I decided to retrain as a stylist. Came down to London because Manchester wasn't cool enough apparently.
Was it not?
Nobody training stylists in Manchester in those days. Now they're hosting Chanel fashion shows there, by the way, we win. But I came to London to train as a stylist. And I was told, first of all, I was trained in colour analysis. So, what kind of colours suit you for your skin tone? And that was pretty revolutionary for me at the time, 25 years ago. I thought, wow, I'm seeing colour through a totally different lens now, in a lens that actually, if we matched our skin tone to a colour, it could make us look totally different.
Mm-hmm.
It could make our skin look flawless. It could make us feel better. And that, was pretty life-changing for me. So, I came back up north and I did that, that colour analysis. So, I started styling mainly women, also men, and working on what colours suited them. So, at this point, I was kind of still in the how colours look.
Mm-hmm.
And it was very much about the visual of a colour, if it matched, if it didn't match, how you could combine them. And I had a TV show called Fashion Face-Off. I had a couple of series of this TV show. The colour was the one thing that always made the biggest difference. You know, you could have the trousers, but you could have them in black, but you'd have them in red, and the red would feel different. And I was putting these women in these dresses for the big reveal. So, for TV, colour's everywhere. I mean, if you go back and watch that daytime TV now, you'll be watching it through different eyes. I mean, they have dialed up that colour—
So true.
Because they want it to make an impact. And I very much wanted to do the same. So, I would put women, the colour that really stood out was red. So, we'd have them in a bright red dress, and they would look incredible. All their friends and family would be gushing over them. They would say, wow, I look incredible, when they looked in the mirror. And then they'd go home, and that dress would never come out of the wardrobe.
Never.
They'd go straight back to a black tracksuit, or their grey leggings. And when I asked them why, because I'd always do a follow-up about a month later to say, how are you getting on? You know, because I'm about people, I couldn't just leave it. And they'd say, well, I'm not wearing the red. I said, why not? And they wouldn't say it looked wrong. They'd say, it just didn't feel like me. It felt too much. So, that is when I sort of thought, this, I'm not going mad here. They are feeling colour. Can these people feel colour? And it took me back to my dad's tie rail. Where I was like, I can feel these colours. And that took me on a whole deep dive into, can we feel colour? And turns out we can.
And what did you notice was the common thing, like working with people and really connecting with them and like helping them, what did you notice was the common like perception of colour? Were people frightened of it?
Yes.
Almost, yeah.
They were always frightened of it. It always felt different to their black or gray, or what they were default dressing as, I call it kind of default dressing. So I found a course in chromotherapy, and it was an advanced diploma in chromotherapy, which was A, really scientific, and B, pretty holistic as well. And there was a lot to it. There were big things that I had to read, and I'm not wordy. And I think that's why color resonated with me so much, was that I'm a very visual learner. I like to be able to see things, and that's why I think at first it was all about the colour and the feelings that the colour gave. I think if it had been written down on paper, I wouldn't get it. And this course, I found it really hard going, but I was intrigued by it. And it took me about a year to 2 years to finish this course, just because it was all reading. There was, you know, it was all reading, strangely enough. When you're dealing with something so visual.
Yeah, it was really, really difficult.
Absolutely.
old-fashioned way. Right.
It was text-heavy, it was science-heavy. And as much as I didn't love science in school, this science was setting me alight. Because it turns out that to be a colour, you're on the visible spectrum of light. So the colour is, in its simplest form, the visible spectrum of light.
Right.
So these are different wavelengths of light that we can see. Every colour has a different frequency. And I'm like, yeah, of course it does. That's why people felt different in green, and they felt different in red. That's why I feel different next to the sea than how I do next to a field. That is why I feel great when the sun's out, not so great when it's a gray day. And it spiraled from there.
Before we go any further, the one thing that stands out to me just from the work that I do is how I believe that every incarnation is designed specifically. And I just find it absolutely fascinating to overlay your childhood With your father being an art teacher to what you do now. You just can't write that. It's literally like destiny, isn't it?
Yeah.
And what fascinated me there is just going back to that tie rack. Did you say you genuinely, when you were rubbing against them, do you think you could feel the colours? What do you think it was then that if you go back?
It's energy, isn't it? I could feel the energy. And that's what colour is. Colour is energy. And we are energy, right? I'm not converting anybody here.
No, absolutely.
Therefore, the two interact. And that's what I could feel for sure.
So initially then, so you do the colour analysis first, which is essentially taking someone's skin tones and figuring out what colours look best on them. If I'm flush red cheeks, how does that work?
There is a colour for everybody, right? So everyone can wear every colour. And this is so important to me because when I did my colour analysis training, I was told I was a cool skin tone, okay?
Right.
So, I should never wear orange. Basically, the rule was under any circumstances back then, like, and I'd turned up in a tangerine tank top thinking I knew everything. And I was like, this is random. Oh my gosh, I've got it so wrong here. So, I packed it away dutifully because this was a rule now. And, you know, I was a good girl and I obeyed the rules. And That caused a massive gap in my life, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. But I did it. I carried on. I didn't wear orange at all until I studied chromotherapy, and I realised what orange actually meant, and the vibration and the frequency of orange. It's all connected to my gut, to my gut instinct.
And that's why you liked wearing orange prior to someone telling you you couldn't, do you think? Just intuitively on a subconscious level, you felt connected?
100%.
Now on that, why though did someone say to you, you couldn't wear— 'cause this is what fascinates me. I know that perhaps red doesn't suit me because of my skin tones and my red cheeks. Why would've someone said to you, you can't wear orange? Before we go into the sort of whole science behind that, that really interests me 'cause there's gonna be people listening going, well, what colour can I not wear? For example.
There's no colour you can't wear. And this is the thing. So this is why I never start with the colours and how they look.
Okay.
I start with how the colour feels. Because for me, what you get dressed in or how you decorate a room, say this room, for example, it's all about how that feels. And we know that within manifestation, you can manifest a feeling. That is so powerful. It's not really a thing, it's more of the feeling, and that's really embodying that. So it's always about how these different colors will make you feel. And I start with a thing called a soul shade. So that's the color—
Which we've done, haven't we?
Of your energy. And that's really This is what makes what I do very different to what anybody else has done within the whole field of color really, is that I have taken an ancient practice essentially, which is color healing. This started with the ancient Egyptians. So it's not a new thing. They used to have different colored crystals in their temple walls, and that would refract the sunlight through into different colored rooms. If you had a sore throat, they'd put you in the blue room.
Oh, okay.
If you had digestive issues, they'd put you in an orange room. So they firmly believed that different frequencies had different powers and that they resonated with different points in your body. At the same time, we had ancient Greece where everybody thinks it was all whitewashed and it, you know, that's kind of what we're shown. But actually, that was full color. It's just the color has worn off.
I didn't know. Yeah.
And they attributed color to the elements. So they had fire, water, earth, and air. They attributed colors to those. And then at the same time in India, they were doing chakras. And they're very close, right. And those chakras aligned to every single one of the visible spectrum. So you've had 3 different places, none of whom had any communication obviously, and years and years ago, all coming to very similar conclusions. And they all relate back to color. So when you're looking through any whether it's going through history, whether it's modern day, color goes through all of it, even right up to the modern day where we're now looking outside the visible spectrum to the stuff we can't see.
Right.
We're dealing with infrared for saunas and what have you. It's been shown, it's been clinically proven, scientifically proven to increase the rate of recovery and for muscle. And also red has been shown to increase blood flow. to certain areas as well. And then ultraviolet, which is outside of the visible spectrum of light, again, higher frequency than violet, has been shown to have, in small doses, this has actually been studied a little bit more because it can cause damage. You know, exposure to UV rays, overexposure can cause, contribute to skin cancer, which we know.
Yes.
So, it has been studied a little bit more, but a small dosage of it can actually help with skin conditions like eczema as well. So now it's used within face masks and things like that. It's like we've forgotten about what we can see.
Right. Yeah, yeah. There's a lot to take in here. And at the same time as you're speaking, I'm just like relating it back to everything I know. So the chakras, is it red that's root chakra? And is it ultraviolet or violet purple, which is sort of crown chakra, top of the head?
So we work up. And a lot of people talk about, I wanna be vibing high.
Right, exactly.
But actually, the key to all of this is balance. Okay, so when people say, I shouldn't wear a color, or should I wear a color? You need a full spectrum in your life somehow. But remember, this isn't just about how you dress. This is what you eat. This is the colors that you surround yourself by. This is the colors in meditation that maybe you see or that you can visualize yourself to bring yourself into different states. So we start with the root, which is red.
Yeah.
Lowest frequency on the visible spectrum. Anything lower than that is infrared. We can't see it, but we can still feel it. And we move up to orange. So, red is very grounding, very rooting, also quite a confident colour. And because it's the lowest frequency, that's the colour that started this whole thing for me because we feel it quite intensely. You know, if I was to put someone who wasn't feeling particularly confident or powerful in red, they'd probably get that feeling those women were feeling at the time, this is a bit too much.
Mm.
And the resistance to certain colours can tell us loads about what's going on on the inside and how we're feeling. It can be a resistance to a feeling. So, they don't want that colour. It's quite confident. It's quite powerful. Where's their confidence gone? What's happening right now that means they think it's too much for them? You know, this colour isn't owned by anybody. Of course, they can wear it. So, it brings it into a coaching methodology as well. colour coaching, which is another thing that basically I've pioneered because all these colours are giving us cues. So there might not be a cure, but they are definitely a cue.
Wow. And you said then about red. And so you, did you have an aversion to red or was there something there that you—
Yeah, I certainly did. I certainly did at the time. And in fact, we're jumping about a bit, but my soul shade, so one of these colours will be a colour of your energy and we'll get onto it in a bit.
In a bit, because it's fascinating. Yeah.
Mine is green. Okay. And it's all here. It's kind of heart-led. I'm a total empath. But that red, funnily enough, is the opposite. It's a magnetic opposite to my green. So actually, it's the opposite to how I feel in my default settings.
So it almost repels it really.
Almost repels it.
So we've got red, which is the root, which is very grounding, very earthly. So therefore, actually just thinking of someone listening, actually, if they wore something red and just naturally felt how they feel by wearing that red. That could, in a sense, show them what they might need to work on.
Very much so.
Okay.
It can also be great for— what I like people to do is intentionally select these colours, even if there's resistance there.
Yeah.
So red is great for action.
Yeah.
So if I've got a day where I wake up and I go, gosh, I'm so tired, I need energy and I need deep energy, I've got to get some stuff done, or I want to set some boundaries, red is a great colour. Wow.
That's going to be so helpful. So when you're selecting your wardrobe, you're saying think about day you've got ahead and intentionally select the colour based on that, because the energy, the frequency of that colour is going to help support the day ahead and what you've got on.
100%. It will also affect how other people perceive you as well. So think about that as well. You know, I work with a lot of corporates around colour and personal branding with certain people as well. And I always, you know, if they're in kind of more of an HR role or a people role, and they've got to have some difficult conversations, then maybe red is going to come across as a little bit too powerful, too strong. So we'd probably go for a Green because it's more empathetic. But we start with red, okay? So powerful, powerful colour.
What about, to me, like before speaking to you, I don't know if you agree, Corisande, red to me, I don't know where I learned this, but obviously, you know, it's the colour of blood. It's the colour of the stoplight. It's sort of, I think to me, programmed as like a dangerous colour.
Danger.
What are your thoughts on that?
And this is subconscious again. And it's our own programming, okay? So it's a little bit like that whole imposter syndrome type thing. Where have we learned this? So we do learned behavior. Cultural differences as well. Red in some cultures is a lucky color, in some cultures is not. So it's very much based on our upbringing and what we have subconsciously learned throughout. So everyone will be slightly different, and this is why I don't like hard and fast rules with color.
No.
But just giving people the information and how they interpret it. And like I say, when you've got a soul shade and you know what your energy is, That really impacts things. So it'll impact the way that you feel about certain things. And we're gonna get onto that in a little bit.
Sorry to keep jumping in with, I'm fascinated by this.
Yeah, I'm literally, everything's like changing as well, the way that I felt about color, which I love.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And before we go through the different chakras because of the colors, what I love about that, for example, on the red, you've just completely sort of sold me on that idea. The thing is, I would always avoid red because of someone once saying to me, don't wear red 'cause it clashes with your cheeks. Would you say to me— just before we move on, what are your thoughts with that? If you've had your analysis done or your colors done and someone said to you, don't wear these colors, like someone said to you, don't wear orange?
Forget it.
Forget it. Interesting.
Because to me, taking a whole color out of your life is a whole frequency, it's a whole energy. And it's a bit like taking a whole food group out. It's not a good idea unless you've got an actual allergy to it or it's going to put you at risk. You need a balance. And it's exactly the same as I do color prescriptions for people. So this is not, you know, I'm not prescribing medicine, but what I am prescribing are energies. So I can prescribe energy for you. And if one of those energy centers is out, you know, anyone who practices Reiki or any sort of energetic healing will know that that causes that dis-ease within your system.
Yeah.
And we don't want that. We want balance. If you think about natural daylight, okay, natural daylight contains every color in the visible spectrum. It was actually Einstein that worked that out. Refracted it through a prism, it reflected the rainbow on the wall. And that's how he basically found out that this natural daylight contains every color in the visible spectrum. We see it now through a rainbow. That's your visible proof that all those colors are there all the time, but it has to be refracted through for us to be able to appear in the sky. So nature and And natural daylight is the easiest way. It's the biggest and the best and the freest. And maybe this is why there isn't so much research into it because it's free. There's no money in it. Clearly I'm in the wrong gig. But it's a free recharge.
Yeah, yeah.
It's a free full spectrum recharge being outside. This is now scientifically proven. It's being treated. SAD, seasonal affective disorder, is treated with natural daylight, natural daylight bulbs, natural daylight lamps. What that is giving you is a full spectrum reset. We're now increasingly moving inside. We're living inside, which means that we're getting more depression, we're getting more energy sapping. And if you just step outside, you know yourself that that recharges you. You feel that.
And doing what you've been doing, what did you look at and observe that you thought that needs to be put back into people's idea and perception of how we view colour? And what did you think? You thought, okay, well, if I bring it in this way, people might start seeing it in a different light.
Yeah, it's the— I think for me, it's the fact that it's so accessible.
Yes.
We have to get dressed every morning. We have to eat. We have to live somewhere. We're all in an office. We have so many opportunities to make a choice, make a decision, to supplement the colours that are surrounding us through what we drink even, you know, it's— that why wouldn't you?
Yeah.
Until somebody says— it's very much one of those, why didn't I know this before?
Yeah, absolutely. And you know, if I was listening to this and you've just explained what red means to me, and I select red because we'll move on to the whole manifestation thing. Let's imagine someone listening is actually thinking, do you know what, I've got to step into Matt 2.0, and that's going to require being more confident, it's going to require Getting myself out there. So yeah, I'm going to select red. I'd be thinking, um, well, how does that color, to someone who's unconscious to what colors mean, have any effect? But tell me if I'm coming from the right place here. I just know subconsciously, on a soul level, there's infinite knowing, infinite intelligence. So if I wear red and I know what red means, even if I approach someone in a meeting who's completely unconscious, you're saying that their subconscious will just naturally pick up—
100%.
—that that color is meaning that this person's confident without even knowing what red means. Am I right?
Color bypasses our conscious brain completely, straight to the subconscious. So I use color every year in my manifestation. I manifest something, 7 manifestations around the colors. And last year, red. And red is always the last one that I get. I get them all, but red is always the last one. It's the slowest, right? It's the slowest. It's the lowest frequency. And also it's the opposite of my natural frequency. And last year, red was to do a TEDx. And I did it in December.
Talking through that.
In December, right?
Right.
So, I picked red because it's very much out of my comfort zone because it's a scripted talk, right? This has to have due diligence on it, okay? For TEDx to take it, they've got to check through all your scientific research. They need to see everything. It has to be watertight. It scared me because I felt like I was being tested. And I thought, I need red here. I need red. I need my boundaries. I need my confidence. I need my power. And obviously, Ted red. It is red. Everything about it is red. So, first of all, I started off, you have like a little interview, you have almost like a little audition. We have to do a tape. I wore red, and I had red in the background, because even just that association that, oh, Ted's red, and she's red, and it almost looks like they kind of go together. And then I wore it again for my in-person audition. And I did it. I did it on the 11th of December. Last year. Last one to be ticked off, always the most difficult. But red absolutely got me through that.
So just so I'm clear on that, and I think that's another thread to go down in a bit, is you're saying when you manifest, you're manifesting in alignment with the colours.
Yeah.
So when you're like, right, okay, I need to find a manifestation for red, you chose TEDx.
Yeah. Well, TEDx was there and I matched that to the red. So, it was always something I wanted to do, but I knew that was the frequency I needed to embody to be able to get there. You know, my green frequency of nurturing, of empathy, that wasn't gonna get me a TEDx gig. It's just not.
So interesting. 'Cause I'm thinking now, when I think of red, I don't know about you, Chorus, but I think of Dyer Overseer, one of the biggest podcasts in the world, and he uses the red.
Yeah, he does.
So someone listening, if they wanted to manifest being on Power— exactly. So going off red, what about these other Yeah.
So we move on.
Let's go through them.
Yeah. We move into orange. Orange is such an interesting one. When I do workshops for kids, and I, you can start with colour. Colour can either choose you, which is kind of what happened with your soul shades, or you can choose it. So we can use it intentionally, or we can, I have a free colour selector tool. In fact, I'll put it in the show notes.
Yes, in the show notes.
People can just go on that and it'll give you a colour for the day, depending on the vibe that you're after for the day, or what you need to achieve for the day. But in this particular instance, I use different coloured boards and I always say to the kids, right, just go to your favourite colour. And I would say 80% will go to orange.
Really?
And I'm like, oh my goodness. And then I do the same with adults. And at Happy Place this weekend, not one adult went to orange.
Why is that?
Very, very rare because orange is all about sacral chakra. Okay. So this is all about trusting your gut instinct.
Kids are intuitive, aren't they?
It's about creativity. And as adults, creativity isn't really applauded.
No, it isn't.
Money, success, all these things are applauded. But painting and singing and stuff, it's like, well, yeah, you can do it, but don't do it all the time because you've got to be successful. And we abandon that part of us. And it's so interesting that that's the colour because obviously that was the colour that I was told I shouldn't wear.
Interesting. When Naturally, you're creative.
That's— I am so naturally creative. But I really, when I packed that away, I packed away a part of me. And I completely feel that.
Do you?
Yeah. Because what I did was then I went into a process. I just started doing as I was taught to match people with the colours that looked good. And I stopped myself from thinking outside of the box, thinking beyond.
Yeah.
I stopped thinking beyond, and I just thought within, within the box of what I've been taught. And as soon as I then learned about chromotherapy and learned about vibration and frequency, I opened that up again. And this is what came from it.
And then you have solar plexus, do you?
Yeah, you go up to your yellow. It's your soul shade. So this is interesting. All about independence, clarity of thought.
Wow. Inspirational.
And kind of when you think of these colors as well, you do feel that even if you're just visualizing them in your mind.
You're absolutely right.
You're beaming out. This was a color that the poet Donna Ashworth chose this weekend actually. And she has a poem called Yellow. I don't know if you know Donna.
Yes, yeah.
And she chose yellow and it said something like, your light needs to be seen, shine brightly. And that's such a yellow thing.
Well, I was saying to you, I'm also a Leo and Leo is ruled by the Sun, which is yellow. That's fascinating. Okay.
Yeah. It's an energy. And those, so the red and the orange and the yellow, those are energy builders. Okay.
And they're earthly in a sense as well, aren't they?
Yeah.
Sort of below the heart. So it's sort of—
Well, there was some research done, because I get asked a lot, what if I'm colorblind? Or what if I'm completely blind?
How does this happen?
Yes, exactly.
That doesn't matter because this is about how colors feel, not how they look, and the subconscious mind, but also about the frequency that actually you can feel these colors. And there was a study done where they had someone who was completely blind, a few different people, and could you put different colored cards in order? And the top and bottom of it was that they could.
Just by feeling and sensing?
Just by touch. Because when you moved up, and it wasn't because they felt, it was heat they were feeling. From red, which felt the most warm, up to orange and yellow.
Heat.
To green, to indigo, to blue, indigo, violet. Because it was, the frequency was creating heat. Wow.
What do you think about the sun or fire or—
There you go. So your red, orange, and yellow, energy builders, warming, warming, warming. If you need energy, go in with those colours.
That action red, if someone wants to go, right, like I wanna select orange or I wanna select yellow today, what is that person, what have they got on today, Kay, if they're selecting that colour?
Orange is my go-to for creativity. So I'm writing a book right now. Orange is my leaning in colour. This is what I have got where I feel like I really need to connect in with my gut instinct. And I really need to get those creative juices flowing, that's my orange. I've got an orange mug, I have my coffee in it when I am making, you know, when I'm writing and when I'm creating. Orange is all about that creativity. So if you've got something that you need, that you need those sort of thoughts in, get those juices flowing, try orange.
And I'm just picking up on you saying having an orange mug. So equally, can people bring these colours into their home if they don't wanna wear them?
100%. This is not just about wearing.
Right, okay.
This is about thinking about, oh, crystals.
Like crystals, yeah.
You had fantastic Mart on your podcast. I love that man, he's fabulous. You can do it in your home. I zone my home. You know, I've got 3 teenagers living there. We need zones.
You need colour as well, I'd imagine.
Well, I do need colour. And that's a really interesting one 'cause my teenagers are head to toe in black.
Are they? I'm not surprised.
So they are, but they're cocooning. And I get asked this a lot from people like, oh my goodness, my teenager doesn't wear any colour. How can I start? How can I get them colourful? I'm like, don't.
Just colour their bedroom.
They are cocooning for an absolute reason. They're working out who they are. And that's why black feels very safe. Wow, that's amazing.
Now, interestingly, I've just realized I also drive a yellow car.
Yeah, really?
You know, this is gonna happen a lot. This is so interesting.
And anyone who's listening to this, this will happen a lot, okay? And it's not just like weird, but you will see synchronicities as you do. You will even look back at how color has shown up in your life and you go, oh, and because I'm writing this book at the moment, I've had to go right back to the beginning and And my soul shade's green. Before I even knew that, 19 years ago, actually, on Monday, it was my wedding anniversary. My colour scheme was green.
Oh, wow. But you know what's so— and we'll get into the whole soul colour thing. Coruscant was trying to get me to buy a car for over a year.
Okay.
Only because decision-making things are slow, let's just say.
No, I make careful decisions. And I walked into the Land Rover dealership in January of this year, 2026. And there, for the first time since the 1980s, they've made a bright yellow Defender.
I love it! I know, I've seen that car.
Yeah, and they've only made a few hundred of them.
Yes.
And I said to Coruscant, that's my car.
Yes.
I said, I know it's a bit out there. It's sandy yellow.
I know. I know what you're talking about.
And what's so fascinating now, as you speak, People are like, why did you choose it? And I was like, I don't know. I just walked in and I just saw myself in it. There you go. You know? And isn't that interesting?
Yeah. You found your frequency.
Wow, I feel like I've had some real breakthroughs. I'm having some real breakthroughs.
I'm having major breakthroughs. So yellow then, going back to that, we spoke about orange being creative, yellow being—
It's very innovative. It is inspirational, clarity of thought. It was so interesting listening to you talking about it. You're like, I just like to make a clear decision on things. I like to think it through.
Oh, yeah.
That actually clarity of thought is really associated to that. Yellow, for example, when I first started this business, I was in a real grey period. And you can have grey periods in your life. You can lose your colour altogether. I did at this particular, probably about 5 years ago. My husband was very poorly. We lost our business, and it was dark. And I wasn't feeling like I wanted to go out in colour at all. But I knew I was starting this business again, and I knew I really wanted to help people through colour. So I embodied it, and I wore a bright yellow jacket. This is how this kind of incarnation of colour as a healing tool started, with the bright yellow jacket and a pink dress. You don't have to wear a pink dress, Matt, don't worry. But I wore these, and I walked into this all-female networking situation, which I was quite terrified of, I've got to say. And every single woman in that room wanted to talk to me. They were all like, you look amazing. Gosh, I would never have thought of that.
So you wore yellow?
I wore yellow because I wanted to be that. I wanted to be that independent, the person that's leading, the person that's inspiring, the person that is showing up different, because I wanted to make an entrance. And it did it.
Because we talk a lot about Like, if Matt and I talk about achieving something in the future, we always talk about what can we do now to embody that version of us?
Yeah.
So for anyone listening, you are saying really you need to find on that colour spectrum where you need to be energetically.
Yeah.
And start living in that colour, however that looks to you.
When I work with one-to-one clients, I work with them on a colour prescription, but then we apply it. 'Cause the beauty of colour is that it's just so easy to apply.
Yeah.
Because you make these decisions of colour every day. And there's a thing called enclosed cognition, do you know? about enclothed cognition, which is where when you are wearing something, you do embody that, but also not just you feeling it, other people.
Wow.
They did a study of doctors, so wearing white coats, and actually people perceiving them as a lot more intelligent or trustworthy than if someone had just— same doctor, just in their jeans and a shirt. Even the doctors said they felt more professional, more capable when they were wearing the white coat, purely because of how they've shown up in the world. And it was the same as me then. I walked in there with no clients, no business. I came out with 7 new clients. 7.
Interesting. Now, we're talking about solid colours, aren't we? So, like pink, for example, is like a combination of red and yellow.
Really interesting. So, pink is red with white added. Anytime we add white to a colour, all it does is soften the intensity. So it's a brilliant way. So if you think like, it's a very intense— I have these big colour boards, they're very intense colours, you can feel them. This is a very intense purple today. If we add white, it's like just turning the contrast down a little bit. Just turn it down. If you think about tuning into, even upping the contrast on a television in the olden days when I watched television, turn it up a little bit or turn it down, you're just softening that a little bit.
So you can soften it by the mix.
Yeah. So pink, might feel so much better. It's a great starting point for someone who wants to embody that red, to embody that. Then you, we start with pink, and we can work up.
And if, yeah, I mean, it makes so much sense, doesn't it? I just go back to being a kid in primary school mixing the colours. If yellow's too strong, add a bit of red and you come down to orange, right? It's, you're bringing the frequency down to change the frequency of how you feel. Okay. This is really interesting. Just a quick one. I find it amazing how many people are totally unaware that Corisande and I have our own manifestation community called the Beyond Community. We launched it in early 2026, and it is by far one of the best apps that I personally use every single day. And I know if you've got a dream, you are going to love this community. I'm not here to sell you the resources. But just know that if you want to be in the best place to help you get towards whatever it is that you're seeking to manifest, you're going to absolutely love everything that's in this community, all the resources and all the people. So if you just look in the show notes below, you're going to see a link to a 7-day free trial. Just come on in, check us out, check out everything that we have to offer. And if for whatever reason this community isn't for you, no hard feelings. You can leave anytime within that 7 days. But if you have got a dream and you'd love all the help to get you there, you're gonna absolutely love it. And with that said, back to the episode. So now we go up to the heart then.
Yeah, green.
Green.
Yeah, we go to green, colour of nature. Kind of do feel like you breathe out a little bit when you get there. And it's mid-frequency. So if there are 7 colours in the spectrum, which they are, this is number 4. It's right bang in the middle. It's nurturing. Nature's a great indicator actually of the properties of these colors, because if you think about your reds, even things like chilies, red chilies, they're hot, they're fiery, they've got that power in them.
Mm-hmm.
Moving up to kind of your turmeric, which is all about getting digestive going, and you're moving up to your yellow, which is that sunshine in the sky. Green is very much your leafy nature, and it balances. So it's mid-frequency, and it's not just about When someone has a soul shade of green, they're very nurturing. And I always thought that actually made me less powerful, but actually now I've learned that actually that's just my superpower. And understanding your soul shade, that's your superpower. You don't have to try to be anything else. You can lean into different energies, but this is intrinsically who you are.
Brilliant.
And that green is nurturing. And if it's something that's lacking, and a lot of the time that is lacking in people's lives, That's about self-nurturing. So keeping, having time for yourself. A lot of new mums are deficient in that sort of green, or sometimes they crave it and they don't know why. I've had a couple of clients say, I'm really craving green at the moment. Why do I like green all of a sudden? I'm like, well, because you're giving out all that nurturing energy to something else that's taking all that nurturing energy. So it's only natural that you're craving it back as well.
You had a great question, didn't you, Corisande, about new mums, being a new mum, and almost a new identity with—
That was literally where I was gonna go, 'cause I think we were having this conversation before that I think when you have a baby, if we just look at style as the first point, you— well, I don't know about you, but everything I had pre-having my son, I was like, I want to burn all of it now because I can't ever imagine wearing that, 'cause it represents an old version of me.
Yeah.
And I think I see colour and outfits as like, that was a season of my life. And I think that's how a lot of people see colour, is like a season, or a moment, or a moment in time, something they wore. So, how do people— like, say, let's use having children as an example. How do you kind of start when you— when really, we're taught, aren't we, as women, black is the flattering colour? And let's face it, you just want to wear a sheet when you've given birth.
You do.
You do not want anything to be like— you don't want to draw attention to yourself, 'cause you just feel like a little shell of a human for a few months.
Yeah.
So where could we start there, do you think?
And I can start that kind of personally, 'cause I, with my first baby, I had a really bad postnatal depression, actually. It was a very grey time. And that was another time in my life where I lost my colour. And there are various times when people say, what do you mean you lost your colour? Well, my wardrobe was grey. My diet was beige. And I very rarely opened the curtains. You know, my mood dictated my colour choices. And this happens so many times in life for men and women. Don't let your mood dictate the choices. We know that within manifestation, that's about shifting energy. You know, being intentional with how you want to feel, and then shifting the energy and taking the action towards those things. And colour plays a huge part in that, but it can feel really scary. Black isn't on the visible spectrum of light. Scientifically, it's actually an absence of light. So it doesn't have a frequency or a vibration. It cloaks us. And I always say it's like the Harry Potter invisibility cloak. If you don't want to be seen, it can feel so safe. And I get that. And that's where I was. I was probably stuck in there for about a year, I would say, before I started coming out of that. The key is to know how to start coming out of that. And a lot of that is reconnecting with yourself. I love the flamingo analogy. that the flamingos lose their pink.
Yeah, I love that pink.
And they do because they regurgitate their food. That pink comes from the nutrient in their food, which gives them that pink colour. When they regurgitate it to feed their young, they go white.
Oh, wow.
Even the male ones, actually, because they're not nurturing, they're not nourishing themselves. So to get your pink back, you need to nurture yourself and nourish yourself. And they do eventually because they stop regurgitating the food, the baby can feed itself. And it's the same with us. So when we shift and we have these different shifts, and it isn't just always to do with children, sometimes it's to do with grief.
Mm-hmm.
Sometimes it's a divorce. Sometimes it's anything that can kind of knock you off-kilter a little bit can put us back into our little cocoon. So it's about understanding, and these colour energies are so great for doing this. It's me being in a very grey space and putting on a yellow jacket. Mm-hmm. Because we know that In our comfort zone, nothing grows.
Right.
But friction is healthy. Something that I'm trying to teach my teenage boys at the moment. When something doesn't quite go your way, you might fail your driving test, you might not get selected for a sports team, that's great. That's data acquisition. That bit of friction takes you to the next level. And it's exactly the same. And when, if I was working with someone now who everything had lost their colour, and generally new mums, this is the way. Then we start with your soul shade, because that is intrinsically you. We connect you back in with that, and we go from there.
Oh, I love that. Love that.
So I'm also thinking here, what's fascinating is we're going through these colors, and we're assigning sort of like meaning to it for everyone, which is fascinating. But also just going back to what you said about writing. If you know that they're right, okay, I want some new ideas, I want some creative ideas today, you would select orange for that meaning.
Yeah.
And that's how people can use it essentially, can't they, in their life? Just like having a crystal in their hand for a specific meaning, they're going to select colors. It doesn't necessarily mean wearing a whole orange suit, even orange glasses, whatever. In some way, holding that, it's the frequency, and frequency is information. It's holding that information and then getting the downloads and the insights. As a result of being around that frequency.
Yeah, and being open to it as well, and being tuned into it. Like today, I sat down, I was feeling a bit nervous, and I just looked up and there was a green door. Now that green is my Soul Shade, and it's an amazing anchor in certain situations. You can use this as a visual cue, or as an anchor, you know, it's— color pops up in the most unexpected places. And it speaks a language all of its own. I have a thing called Notes from Colour, which I do when I go to events, and people can just select the frequency that they want. It's on a tray, and there's a note from each colour, and it's so telling.
Like a sign, essentially. Like the universe communicates through frequency.
Oh, this is really nice, 'cause we have people who say they don't see numbers.
They see colours.
Yeah.
I don't see numbers. Oh my God, I'm tired. I can tell you that. Oh wow.
I have, Kate, this exercise I do, called the 9-square activation. And every now and again— and most people, by the way, when I say a number, they'll tell me their thought. But sometimes people go, well, I can see a color like red here or blue here. And now you're telling me this is what's so strange. Now I'm learning what the colors mean. I can relate those back. And yeah, okay.
Wow.
So instead of seeing numbers and signs, we can use color in manifestation.
Did you notice the colour green? Yes. On the—
Gorgeous.
I've just noticed that's that little sign for you, yeah.
Thank you very much.
Yeah, thank you, Tony.
I'm looking at that green there, it's bright as hell.
I'm thinking of you now every time I think of green.
No, but it's true.
Yeah.
None of it is, it's synchronicity. These things are all, they're energy.
Yeah.
We know that. And that when you were talking about that, the number thing, yeah, the reason why this all came about, the whole Chromie brand came about, was because I don't see numbers.
You see colour.
I don't even see writing. I was talking to you before, I'm writing this book and it's really hard work. I can speak it, I can visualise. I'm so good at visualising things, I think they've already happened. This book, I thought I wrote it 3 years ago.
Are you that good? You can visualise it, you can see it?
The problem is I need to catch up with my visualisation.
That's so funny.
Because I feel like it's already there.
Yeah. So people can ask, 'cause I always say, ask for a sign, right? Ask for, you know, synchronicity. You can ask for a colour.
Oh yeah.
You could ask, okay, if I've got to stand up and be more confident and put myself out there, show me red.
Yeah. You can show it, but also you can create it yourself.
Yeah.
Yeah. Go for it. Intentionally select it. Put yourself in the frequency.
Yeah.
And you'll be surprised what happens.
And talk us through Chromie. Exactly what is that? How was that born?
So CroMe was born because cro is literally like colour, so like chromotherapy, and me is me. So it's colour me, essentially. Oh, colour me. I love that. Okay, I love that. Essentially, it's how you can use colour as a wellbeing tool.
Okay.
I love that.
So then we're moving up to throat chakra, is that right?
Moving up to throat. So we've gone from heart, which is our brain.
Blue, I'm guessing?
Yeah, yeah, which is throat, blue. I said to you, didn't I, you're wearing blue. You're both wearing blue.
Do you know that's subconscious? It's all intimate communication. Not deliberate.
Wow. This is the thing, you will be so in tune with this. We all are. And it is isn't until someone goes, you know what that means, right? You're like, what? Wow, that's crazy.
And you know, my last 2 keynotes have been blue.
Nice.
But again, not—
They will have helped hugely. And also, it helps people as a visual cue for others as well. Like, the NHS use blue, a lot of law companies, a lot of accountancies.
Police, yes. Police.
Because this is the colour of trust, right? They want people to trust them. So they generally will use The sky's blue.
The sky's blue.
Oh my God, that's so fascinating.
Yesterday, you know, I was doing an event. It was a very corporate event. Like, I think every logo in that room was blue.
Really?
Now I'm thinking, playing devil's advocate here, let's imagine someone listening. Yeah. They're really nervous because they're either going on a podcast or they're doing their first keynote. They want the audience to trust them.
Yeah.
They want to speak clearly, but they severely lack confidence.
Yeah.
Now you've said ignore what colours suit you or don't. What colour are you putting someone in for that?
Do you know what I'd love to put them in? I'd love to put them in a magnetic pairing. Because now we're getting to the top part of the spectrum. We're getting the second half in. So the second half of the spectrum, the high frequencies, these are really calming colours.
Yeah.
But a little bit like, it's no good having your voice and finding your voice, without speaking from your gut, without understanding what you're speaking about. So that blue pairs magnetically. So on a color wheel, if we were talking in design, these are called complementary colors, okay? They're on opposite sides of a color wheel. In color energy, they are opposite frequencies, which means they're magnetic.
Yeah, of course.
So actually what blue is giving you is that opening that throat chakra, fantastic for your communication. But also the orange is going to plug in there to make sure you're connected with your gut. In the same time, you know, when I'm using my orange, it's great that I'm getting all this creativity, but that's no use unless I can voice it in some way. Right, okay. Whether that's through speaking it or painting it or singing it or anything like that, you've gotta be able to communicate that creativity. Otherwise, it's just stuck in there.
And how would you dress that then?
So you can even use hidden colour. You know, there is, um, there are courtrooms up and down the country with female judges and solicitors with different coloured underwear on. I'm not even joking! Because they have to wear black robes in court. I work with quite a lot of professional, very, very powerful female judges who are constrained by a cloak of black.
Wow.
But wanna stand in their power. So you can conceal things. So it could be a crystal in your pocket. It doesn't have to be outward.
It could be an orange pair of boxes.
It could be an orange pair of boxes, could be some orange socks. It could be an orange crystal in your pocket. The blue and the orange together is brilliant. Such a great combination. I love that. I know. So when we're talking magnetic pairs, that green, that nurturing, my Soul Shade, the opposite, the magnetic pair is the red. So all those women, I think a lot of them were new mums, and they were kind of in this very nurturing energy. And a lot of them— when we used to do these makeovers, it was generally for people who really deserved them because they'd been through something, or they care for people and things like that. Generally, that leans toward a very nurturing core.
Yeah.
Do you know? That kind of person who actually is an empath, is very nurturing. So I think reading between the lines that that aversion to red came because actually they were naturally vibrating at a green frequency, this nurturing frequency, and that red felt too much, like it did for me initially.
Wow.
But when we lean into that red, that gives us the boundaries that you don't naturally have as a green. So those 2 work very well together, red and green. And then we're moving up to indigo.
Which is sort of like third eye.
Intuition.
Yeah, intuition.
Your soul shade.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's where you are.
Very intuitive.
And that's indigo, did you say?
Indigo.
Indigo.
And moving up to violet, highest frequency on the visible spectrum. Very much big picture thinking, beyond, if you like.
Now, I've done a lot of—
I just came above.
Yeah.
I've slipped in between the two. For a reason, darling.
There's me loving that.
You might find this fascinating. Interesting that I'm obviously obsessed with all this work, but the one area I'm really interested in is the soul-level consciousness. And there's a great book called Journey of Souls, and it's by, um, Brian— there's Brian Weiss and, um, Dolores Cannon. I'm going to think of the other guy in a moment. But anyway, they're past life regression therapists. And Journey of Souls by Michael Newton, he speaks about in that book how different levels of souls and how they've evolved vibrate different colors. So the wisest souls who'd gone through the most incarnations were purple and ultraviolet.
Of course.
And the ones that weren't as sort of developed spiritually, let's say, were more of like the whiter shade. So it's super interesting just how you said that. I immediately paired that with that, which makes so much sense, doesn't it? So it's your Purple is that connection to divine, isn't it? It's like super consciousness.
Exactly, it is. It's knowing that you are a very small cog in a very huge universe and beyond. It literally is. Funnily enough, I did some brilliant sessions for Chris Evans. He runs his own festival, Car Fest, last year and this year. But last year I did one for the guys who were the main sponsor, Okay, so these were all owners, CEOs, directors of huge businesses that were their own founded businesses, and they had charitable contributions, big charitable contributions. So clearly pretty successful businessmen. And I thought, how's this going to go down with these guys? And I did their Soul Shade, and 7 out of 10 in that room were a violet Soul Shade.
Wow.
And I was like, what's going on here? But then you think back and you think, actually, yeah, of course, Because they are the visionaries. They're the big picture thinkers. They didn't need to be the action guys because they have teams behind them. But their job as that huge overarching leader is to have that big picture vision. And they absolutely were.
So if you're a CEO or a leader, or you sit on that level, purple's a great colour for that, in a sense. Is that what you're saying?
It's great. Yeah. And it very much depends on your role. I do these within teams as well, within corporate teams. It's so interesting to see what soul shades you've got mixed in there.
Okay.
Because if you have a lot of reds, they're all going to be fighting over things. There's going to be a lot of action, but actually it might not all be aligned because they're all vibing down here. I've had leadership teams where people have been— this particular guy was a red, very action, very leadership-driven, quite a go-getter, powerful, confident, But he was in a blue role, which actually required him to be communicative, process-driven, more of a finance role. And he was like, wow, you've just worked out why I've been so frustrated in my role. That's why I shout at everybody.
Because he's red.
It's not the same energy. Yeah. It's not aligned.
Was he in the wrong job then?
Yeah, he was just in the wrong job.
So you can figure out whether you're in the right spot in your life just by figuring out, which we'll come on to in a moment, your soul For sure, yeah. Okay. And then just on that, which is Coruscant Indigo, is intuition. So if you wanna connect to downloads, if you wanna be more intuitive.
100%. Do you see color when you— so with the meditations, I couldn't meditate until I used color intentionally.
Wow.
Color would come to me in a meditation, and I wouldn't think about it. And I guess, do you guys see color sometimes?
No. Well, you know, I've never, but you know what's really interesting is, So a few weeks ago, we did like a solo episode, and we had this eye mask, which was called Illuminate, and we put it on, and Matt was like, I've never used it before, but he said, just try it and see what you see. And all I could see, in fact, I said in real time, all I could see was like shades of purple, shades of blue, and that's what was coming through, but mainly the purple was just hitting me constantly. And then when I did the Soul Shade this morning that you sent across to Matt, Before I even clicked on the link, I said to myself, my soul shade will be purple. I just kept seeing it. It's energy.
It's energy. And so we feel it. But until someone voices why, you just don't realize.
Is there anything— I'm just trying to think here— that before we go on to the soul side of it, have we missed? The way I'm taking this, tell me if you agree, is that we can now from that, understand each color of those 7 chakras and specifically intentionally use them in our lives for any different purpose. But at the same time now, what we can figure out is what our natural essence is on a color, which we've spoken about. Mine's yellow, Cora's indigo.
And can I just say as well with those, that's a magnetic pair.
Right, okay.
When you sent those to me this morning when you did them on the train, I was like, okay guys, you're a magnetic pair. And what that basically means is you are energetically opposite, which means you're actually magnetic. So you balance each other out beautifully. We've got the intuition and that kind of more thoughtful side of things with that action and with that innovation and with that inspiration of the yellow.
That's so—
Balance each other out. So what this also does is it helps you understand people, and it helps you interpret people better. I'm a green. My husband has the sole shade of red. He's always 10 steps ahead of me. He is an incredible leader, an amazing entrepreneur, but he's fast-paced. And I thought I was lagging behind because I wasn't as fast-paced as him. I wasn't as fiery and I didn't make snap decisions. And I thought that was something that I was lacking in. Whereas now what I've realised is it's just a different superpower. Mine's green. And that is equally as valid. All these colors have different energies. My nurturing energy, he wouldn't be able to be as red without my nurturing energy in there to balance him out and to hold the house and the kids and create those environments. So you two work so beautifully. So sometimes we talk about roles in relationships and who you're attracted to, that opposites attract is definitely true. And it can also be when you are with someone who's the same soul shade, a frustration. And actually, it's a mirrored frustration.
Yeah, of course.
We've got a friend of mine, she's a green, and her husband's a green as well. And they frustrate each other because they're so similar that actually no action is ever taken because they're so bothered about upsetting each other. They're so like, oh, what do you think? Well, what do you think? The empathy is overwhelming. So just being aware of that, that can help you to shift things.
And what should someone do? Because I bet everyone listening to this is going to go straight and do their soul shade after. I want to just imagine that someone does it and they do it for their husband or their wife. Yeah. And they, they get the same color. How would your friends in that case— what would you do with 2 people who've got the same color?
Is appreciate why is the first thing. Okay. Just being aware. Awareness about color is an awareness about color energy. It almost gives you the permission that actually what you were feeling wasn't wrong, it's just who you are, and then to work around it. So actually, both of them, both of these people say, oh, we need to get a bit more in our red energy now.
Oh, okay.
Because we're not making a decision. So rather than getting frustrated that actually they're still stuck in the same place that they were last year, now they understand why. It's actually, it's just their energies are matched. And if one of them doesn't nudge that dial and go slightly lower frequency to get some action done, then they're going to stay there forever.
So one of them can take the red, for example?
Yeah. And it's great if you both know, because then you're like, oh, right, well, you can be a bit red in this. I know it's not comfortable, but it helps you to reconnect with you. I've had people before when their Soul Shaders come back, and when I've been doing one-to-ones as well, because I do this sometimes in person one-to-one, or we can do it online. that they've said they don't like their Soul Shade. What happens if I don't like it? And then one lady, when she came in the room, was like, as long as it's not blue, I'll be fine. It was blue. And I was like, right. All that shows is a disconnect, a disconnect from yourself. Oh, my God. And that can happen for so many different reasons. With her, she was in a relationship, which she'd since come out of, which is why she was coming to see me. She was ready for a change. She wanted an energetic change, but also physical sort of change. And that relationship, she wasn't able to speak her truth in it at all. She lost her voice completely for a good 5, 6 years. It was kind of a coercive control relationship. So she'd lost that. She had a massive blockage here because she didn't feel safe to speak, which basically meant that she'd abandoned that color of energy, that frequency.
And she didn't know that blue meant that though.
She didn't know what it did.
But she just said to you, as long as it's not blue.
She said it's too cold. That was the word she used. It's too cold.
Wow.
And when we connected that, and that's what colour is really, it's a connector. When we connected that, we had lots of tears, and colour can bring a lot of tears because it's a release of energy and it's an emotion. But now moving through with that, embracing it and understanding it, she started singing again, which she realised that she used to love doing that. As a kid, she was in a choir. She always wanted to be a singer. She started singing again, even in the shower, and she's connecting back in with that voice. So that's brilliant.
It can bring you back to who you are. Yes, so interesting. Really, isn't that interesting, Corisande? Before we move to Soul Shades, is there anything we've missed, Corisande?
The only thing I wanted to know from you is we briefly chatted about when you manifested the happy place. I'd like to know what you were wearing that day you were at Cheshire Oaks.
Ooh.
I'd love you to share that story, 'cause I think it's a really good one.
Yeah. Yeah.
Did you know that on October 3rd and 4th, 2026, I'm going to be live in Barcelona hosting a 2-day manifestation workshop? And for the first time ever, I haven't taught this in the detail that I'm going to teach it in October. I'm revealing a formula and a map that is going to help you understand the probability of actually manifesting the very thing that you're looking to manifest. This isn't a generic tool that you're going to go away and use. This is going to be specific for your own manifestation. This is something that I've been researching throughout 2026. This hasn't been taught by any other teacher on the planet when it comes to this formula that I'm teaching. And there are certain areas of this formula that will help you understand exactly what you need to personally work on in order to increase the likelihood and probability of the very thing that you're manifesting. And with that said, it's a deep dive over 2 days about everything I know about manifestation, as well as being in a room with hundreds of like-minded people. And we all know that when people come together, there's a very real thing called collective energy that amplifies your own intention. So that is October the 3rd and 4th in Barcelona this year, 2026. The link to come and buy your tickets is below in the show notes. And if you can make it, I'm gonna love to see you there live this October. Anyway, back to the show.
So, for those that don't know Happy Place, it's a podcast, a very successful podcast, but also they have a festival attached to it. And lots of really well-known wellbeing kind of practitioners and celebs and stuff go to it. And I'd listened to the podcast for ages and really loved it. And the logo's yellow, right? Yeah.
Interesting.
So, that was on my vision board, the yellow. And I got booked just off Instagram, a DM off Instagram, which a lot of my business kind of comes that way, from some people saying, it was an events management company, and they said, oh, we'd love, would you be interested in doing some events for a shopping centre? I said, yeah, sure, where is it? They're like, well, we can't tell you yet because it's not all sewn up, but it's about a month's worth of events. And I was like, sounds great, I'll travel wherever. And they sent me some mock-ups of the area, and I was like, oh, Is this Cheshire Oaks, which is literally 20 minutes from my house. Could have been anywhere. This events management company were down in London. And so, I rolled up there, and I didn't really know what to expect. They'd sprayed a huge shipping container pink and called it Destination Joy. Like, this could not be more me. The whole thing was amazing. I'm so excited about this. The whole activation was around colour, and essentially, they wanted it to be around colour and how it looks and new season styles. But I was like, hmm, could I kind of put my own spin on it? Spin on this? I've got this inkling that actually this is way more than just how it looks. Let me just run with it. And they were brilliant. They were like, oh yeah, absolutely. As long as you can bring all the retailers into it. I was like, oh gosh, yeah, I can even bring the cookware into it and the interiors into it. It's no big deal at all. And I ran this event. The first event was for influencers, and I was just talking through the color energies and things. And after it, they said, that was brilliant. You'd be really good at Happy Place. And I'd been trying to manifest Happy Place for a long time, and I'd been doing the pushing thing. You know the thing where we get a bit pushy with our manifestations?
Yeah, absolutely. Not letting go, are you?
Yeah, you chase it. And I was like, I'm having it, and I'm replying, and I'm applying, and then I'm sending more and more emails. And I'm like, clearly Happy Place would be fuming with me by this point. So, I hadn't heard anything back at all. And I said, well, it's been on my vision board, and I've emailed those people. I don't know who they are at the end of that email. And she went, it's all Aha! We book the acts for Happy Place, and we'll book you right here, right now for both festivals, London and Cheshire. And I was like, okay.
That sounds very red energy to me.
That day, that does. And that's not my natural energy.
Wow.
At all.
Was that you bringing your husband's energy in, do you think?
Well, it was, yeah, possibly. But also, it was my independent— 'cause it was yellow that I was manifesting it.
Of course, Happy Place, yeah.
I was doing the independence thing. I'm like, I'm independent. And with any of these energies, you can overkill it. So if I'm all yellow, the people who generally are all yellow and just fully in their yellow energy probably won't be told. Does that sound like him?
Yeah.
Quite stubborn.
Yes, he's very stubborn.
My way or the highway.
Yes, that sounds about right, yeah.
Independent. That's what we like to call it. I was in that. But on that particular day, clearly I was wearing yellow. I was wearing a bright yellow coat.
Were you?
Yeah, and I just channeled it.
That's so good. And that's— and yeah, like, like, yeah, the frequencies are aligned, right?
Yeah.
Okay, so now obviously this is a manifestation podcast. I think this is super valuable because I'll be honest, I've— everything we've just discussed there, that is so valuable because every— everyone's got different manifestations, right? Everyone's going to be working on different things. I'm already thinking about my keynote in Barcelona in 2 weeks and what I'm gonna wear, right? This is so valuable. We wanna play a game with you in a moment. We wanna take 2 people who might be manifesting different things and sort of like throw that to you about colors. First though, we've been talking about Soul Shades the whole time. Obviously, we'll leave the details so people can go and do that from your website. But first, what is Soul Shade?
So a Soul Shade is the color of your energy. essentially. So it's not an aura. I don't see these things. It's very much based on a mix of color personality and color energy. So that was where this came about. There are lots of different color personality profiling tools. I don't know if you know about them. Myers-Briggs, and there's the DISC, and various other things.
Yes.
They generally go over 4 colors, and those colors generally relate to the Greek mythology of the elements. So you've got your red, your blue, your green, and your yellow.
Mm-hmm.
Okay? And you'll generally be one of those things. And I was like, gosh, it's color, but it's nothing to do with energy. This is not hitting the mark. And I was like, where would those nice creative people live? Where would those really intuitive people live? This doesn't work. And for me, when we're looking at humans and we're looking at how energy flows through the body, there are 7 of these things. So I devised this as a test really to start with, that could color personality and color energy come together, kind of coexist to bring this in? And the answer is yeah, basically.
Well, and that makes sense to me. This is because, you know, I always say we're seeing, you know, we're just seeing the visible spectrum of the electromagnetic spectrum, and we incarnate into that spectrum, so of the colors, colors. So it would make sense to me that a soul incarnates on a color or a frequency depending on, you know, when they were born, who they are. So people can go and do this quiz like we did.
Yeah.
Answer a few questions, and then they'll be given their color. Now, just so I'm clear on this, I now know what colors I'll select according to different things I might do, different manifestations I might have. What do I just need to remember about my soul How am I— I don't necessarily need to wear it? Is it like, how are you using your soul color?
So just know it's your default setting.
It's your default, okay.
So when you do your soul shade, you will get a guide. Did you see your guide in your email? Yes, I did. So you get a guide, and it's a guide to your soul shade, and equally as important, to your magnetic pair. Now that magnetic pair is almost like a shadow side if you've done shadow work within you. So it's the side that potentially you might struggle with a little bit, or that actually, if you're in this very balanced partnership, your partner will probably plug into as well. So the key is to understand that this is almost how you see the world. It's a little bit like—
Okay.
If you are that yellow, knowing that you are independent, which is a huge thing, it's fantastic, it's a great strength, but also it can be a weakness as well. And to understand you can feel yourself when you're tipping into that. Do I need to do this? Can I pull back in that? Do I need to balance myself out a little bit? But it will also show you where in the spectrum is going to feel more comfortable to you and where isn't. So with you, we've got that beautiful indigo. So yellow's the opposite. So you're very much in the calm side of the spectrum. You're in that calming side of the spectrum.
Mm-hmm.
More, you'd like to assess that situation and more intuitive. So you may feel like you're not as fast-paced, As Matt.
Yeah.
Yeah?
Yeah.
And you get that, and that's fine, but don't feel like that's a bad thing. That's so essential to your relationship. Because if you were both yellows, and you were both going as fast as this one, then, you know, all those little details, all those little nudges that make things absolutely perfect, they won't be there. And that's you that brings that.
Oh, I love that.
But if you're on your own, and you don't have a partner to bring that in, then that indigo will have shown you that. It will show you that actually sometimes you need to be a bit more intuitive about things. Sometimes that you can go for big picture thinking rather than the action straight away, that sometimes that could trip you up. So it's really interesting. It's very much about how you exist within the world, the energy that you project.
Mhm.
Which is good because you then understand how that could affect people. I remember when my husband found out his red he was red. I said, do you understand how that, if I didn't know this, I would find that quite forceful as a green? You know, that would be— I would be a bit terrified of that. Yeah. So it can be really telling, especially if you're a leader, if you're leading a team. It can really lean into your leadership style. So self-awareness, really, of how you exist within the energy that you give out every single day. and actually that that energy is your superpower. A lot of people go, gosh, I feel like I can breathe out. Like, mine's green. I felt like I am a nurturer, and that's brilliant. And that's a strength rather than seeing it as a weakness. Because quite often, that little imposter syndrome, those little imps that Poppy talks about, they're all linked in with our Soul Shade. And actually, those things are strengths. You know, they're not weaknesses.
So I'm gonna be authentic with you, because when mine popped up, Initially, I was like, no, purple's not— I'm not a fan of purple.
Yeah.
So I was the lady with the blue.
Yeah.
So I was like, no, you can— I'll redo it.
Do one with the purple.
So I wonder, you explained earlier how it might just be because you need to actually reconnect with yourself. So how do you kind of process the information and then do that reconnection? How does that happen?
Well, each of these Soul Shades come with a 5-minute meditation as well.
I love this.
So there's a link on that guide.
Yes.
And it's a visualisation of the colour, which is really interesting. If you're feeling a bit disconnected, sometimes people don't, but you told me that you see this colour anyway when you're meditating.
It follows me and I'm like, no.
So to me, that kind of says that the disconnect is there just because you're questioning yourself a bit, that actually, is this enough? Is this— is it enough to have just the intuition and the attention to detail? It is. It's brilliant. In fact, it's essential to who you are. So lean into it. You don't have to be good at everything. Everyone has different roles that they're better at. And this is your calling. This is what you're amazing at. Go with it.
I love that.
On that note, though, because it's a great question, I've never seen Coruscant wear purple, I don't think. And I don't know honestly whether I'll see her wearing purple. But are you saying to Coruscant, it's not go and buy purple clothes, she could wear a purple bra, or purple pants, or whatever, just surround herself with a bit more purple?
But you know, there's a crystal, and I said this to Mart, that has followed me my whole life, and it pops up. Like if I wanted to get rid of it, but it's not possible, it would always find me. And as Matt always says about them always finding you, but it's an amethyst.
Amethyst, yeah.
And it is so deep. The purple is so deep and it's like, it's a grounding, like it finds me and it grounds me. It's really interesting.
Of course it does.
Yeah. I just think, oh, you've opened my eyes so much, honestly. Yeah, it's been really valuable. So valuable.
I think before we wrap, I would love to use 2 examples.
Oh yeah, yeah. This is gonna be good.
People listening are gonna be trying to manifest different things. things. And I'm going to give you 2. And obviously, you're not going to know their Soul Shade, but you could perhaps pick one as an example.
Yeah.
Let's imagine we've got someone listening who their biggest manifestation is to manifest love. And they're desperate for it. And they're visualizing, they're doing everything I teach them, they're doing. Perhaps this is the first time they've been introduced to color in the way you've described it. They want to get themselves out there. They know about taking action, Tell me how you're dressing them and what advice you're going to give them based on that.
I'm going green. It's a heart chakra color, right? And so a lot of people would go the opposite. They'd go red because they love red.
Yeah, like Valentine's Day.
Yeah. Green, right? So green, because when you're trying to manifest love, it's to get in the right frequency for it. And a lot of that starts with yourself. Self-love, right? Self-nurturing, making sure that you are— it's very difficult to manifest love if you are not feeling that in your core yourself. You need to have that yourself. It's like any of my friends— a lot of people getting divorced right now— and some of them are like, I'm going to go straight back on the dating scene. Not until you've done a little bit of work. We need to make sure that you are in touch with yourself, that you love yourself enough to then be open to this love. Now green's a great one because it is a very approachable color, very balanced, it's not forceful. I would go with green. Green is exactly where they should be.
That's great. Should they be looking for green themselves and what people are wearing. Obviously, people are going to be on—
No, they're not necessarily going to know it. I think that if you go with green, green is— especially when you're looking for love.
Yeah.
I honestly don't think you can find love. I think love finds you.
Right. So as long as they embody the green—
Set your frequency.
Yes.
Embody the green, but know that with that green comes a love for themselves before anybody else.
Which is how they— which is when people say to me, how do you attract love? You've got to become love, you've got to become green.
Become green.
And then when they get themselves out there, I'm also thinking what came to me is I always say, instead of going out on like random dates, go and put yourself and do more activities that make you feel emotionally connected to the thing. So what came to me was something like any activity that might be green. So, you know, going out in nature, any activities that represent nature in some way or any— just, that is so valuable advice. Okay, green.
And then I liked the, someone who is struggling with their mindset with money. They're really struggling with that mindset. In fact, they find they worry about money a lot, but they really wanna set that frequency and that tone of calling abundance in.
That's interesting. So abundance is all linked in with yellow actually, Matt. So you're in a very good position for this. Of course it is, yeah. Even if you're looking in—
I've always been good at making money though, funnily enough. enough, haven't I, Coruscant? I'm not saying that to be big-headed.
Always.
From a young age, I've always been good at making money.
So yeah, even if you look in terms of crystals, citrine, which is— Yes, I was just gonna say. It is abundance. And that yellow gives a certain certainty to you, to a clarity of thought and an independence, okay? It stops you questioning things too much. So if you were after money, I mean, green also as well is pretty good for that as well.
Yeah.
Because it comes from a balance, so you're not chasing anything. So green and yellow together are brilliant, and actually they're next to each other frequency-wise. They're not far apart, green and yellow. But the yellow, the yellow is going to give you that action for it as well without forcing it. Because I think a lot of the time when people are looking for money, They are chasing it. And actually, if you understand what your USP is, essentially, yellow always makes me think of USP. What's your unique selling point? What makes you unique? That yellow. Sit in that, and that's where your abundance comes from.
And money being energy is a byproduct of value and service, and service and value is being creative in yellow. Whereas I think you'd naturally though, without knowing this, default to red for action. But it's chasing, it's a little bit too low.
Yeah, it's a little bit too action and often action without alignment.
Okay, you've answered so much. I'm mind-blown and I think a lot of people. So, okay, someone who's visualizing their future, whether it's money, whether it's love, whether it's speaking, they can visualize their future self embodying those colors, surround themselves with Kate, what question about colour have we not asked you that needs to be asked?
Hmm. That is interesting. I think it's gotta be about black, really. I think it has to be about the absence of colour that actually society today, and in fact, the world today, is almost set up for us to live in greyscale.
Right.
Now, is this a conspiracy theory? Who knows? But I went onto the high street recently, And as soon as the days start getting shorter, as they are in certainly England right now, we're starting to get shorter days, we see an increase in things like SAD, seasonal affective disorder. It's clinically proven that an absence of daylight affects your mood adversely, okay? But at the same time, the high street moves into grayscale.
Yeah.
Okay? Interestingly, supermarkets become very colourful, but generally with a lot of beige food in very colourful boxes to try and attract us to it. So, it's so interesting that actually, to be aware of colour, be aware of how it's affecting you. So, the reason why a lot of us are attracted to black is that it blocks things. things, it hides us. So, when I get asked, oh, you know, what colour would you avoid? It's never about avoiding a colour.
Yes.
It's always about just understanding what it brings. And defaulting to black or grey or beige is a sign of overwhelm. And I think understanding that is really important, that actually the colours that you're choosing to surround yourself with subconsciously can often be a reflection of what's going on on the inside. That if that's in grayscale right now, you can intentionally shift that through the frequencies around you as well.
I love that.
Powerful. Now, one, a couple of other questions. If we're, if you're gonna do like a thumbnail on YouTube, for example, right? And you want to draw in new viewers and draw in more Is there a particular colour in your thumbnail? You know, we spoke about Steven does the red over his text, the drawing. What colour do you think would stand out for us?
It depends what you wanna be saying as well.
So like if you imagine our podcast, drawing the audience into spirituality, manifestation, going beyond, is there a colour, do you think?
I mean, your purples are great for that, but also they are high frequency, so very calming. And if you want attraction straight off the bat, your yellow's gonna be perfect for that.
Which is funny because we've been experimenting with orange and yellow. So I just wanted to see.
Is that a personal one?
Yeah, that's— no, it was just interesting.
I found one from the back pocket.
If you think about brands, right? If you think about like a McDonald's, it's red and yellow.
Red and yellow.
It makes you move fast. They don't want you dwelling in there. Interestingly, and I only know this because my eldest has actually got a job at McDonald's, he's doing it while he's at sixth form, they've started introducing Calm Corn, Yeah, I see. Especially for kids that are a little bit overstimulated or adults who want to dwell a little bit, they're purple.
Wow. Okay. That's interesting.
They're calming. They're a high frequency. They're calming. So they're starting to colour zone already. They are affecting your behaviour without you knowing it. So it's about time I put you back in the driver's seat.
So good.
Love that.
Now, before we move on to how people can find you and do the quiz, we have one final question we always ask, don't we, Corisande?
We do. And that is, what does it mean to you to go beyond?
To trust your instincts and to think outside the box, because that's what I did.
Yeah.
I didn't listen to what I'd been taught. I listened to how I felt. And often that, for me, is colouring outside the lines. Yes, yes, yes. It can lead to amazing things.
Oh, this has been so, so valuable and so interesting, and I'm sure people want to learn more about you. Obviously, you're gonna have a book eventually because you're working on it now.
That's my manifestation.
That's your manifestation. I can't wait to read that. Um, but where can people find you now, Kate? Talk us through that, how they can learn more. Where do they go?
So Instagram's great, @kaitthecolour. I'm on Instagram and TikTok. Kate the Colour. Easy to remember. My website is chro-me.co.uk. And yeah, I pop up all over the place.
You do.
I'm gonna put that free colour selector tool as well there as well.
Okay, awesome.
This is great for if you've got a day ahead of you and you don't know what colour. So even before you do your soul shade or anything, it's a brilliant free resource that you can just— it'll ask you a few questions, different questions saying, what have you got to do today? How do you want to feel? What do you want to embody? And it'll give you a colour. I want you to try that as well.
We'll try that and we'll add that to the show notes as well as the quiz that they can do. Kate, thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much. I've loved it.
