This Will Change The Way You Manifest (I go super deep!)

Olivia talks with Matt Cook, a manifestation coach who left real estate to teach spirituality. He explains how the subconscious mind shapes what you attract and why dreams matter more than most people think.

Welcome. Matt Cook. What an absolute joy to have you on my podcast.
Thank you, Olivia. It's great to be here in Dublin. I'm really excited and honored to be here.
Welcome back. So, Matt, you are an international manifestation speaker and coach, author of Beyond Wanting, which has been published by Penguin Random House. And what I find fascinating about your story is that you never planned to become a manifestation coach, and now you're one of the most successful manifestation coaches in the world.
Wow.
How did this happen?
It's very odd to hear that, to be honest, because, like you say, I never planned to be here. And it started very. I mean, I was in real estate. I sold property for a living. And I. In September 2018, I was under a lot of stress at work. I was the youngest manager in my company at the time. I was 26. And I was successful on paper. I'd risen to the top of the ranks in that industry, and I was selling some really nice property, but I was really stressed, and I had this real tight chest, and I was really struggling to breathe, and I didn't know what to do. And my wife's grandmother asked me to have some reflexology. She said it would really help. And I was, Olivia, just looking for any way to, you know, help this with this real tight chest and this pain. And I agreed and went to her house, and she arranged for this reflexologist to come over. And what I thought would be a simple foot massage turned out to be the. The biggest awakening of my life. As I was sat there on. On this sort of reflexology bed, the reflexologist, who didn't know me and I didn't know him, asked me one question, and he said to me, so, Matt, tell me who you are. And I said, oh, I'm 26 years old. I'm the youngest manager in this firm of real estate age. He said, no, no, no. I didn't ask what you did for a living. I asked who you are. I didn't know how to answer it. Who am I? I remember lying there going, who am I? And I think so many people, if they just ask themselves that question right now, struggle. And in that moment, I realized that there was someone behind that corporate suit. And I realized in that moment that whoever I was wasn't happy. And I realized in that moment, I was wearing a corporate shell to make my dad proud.
Yes.
You know, and I never got the recognition, actually. That's the irony. And I thought to myself, you know, I'm 26. Do I really want to do this until I'm 60? Five, 40 years? No. So the I and the awareness immediately began to dissolve this tight chest. So that was September 2018. And over those six months, I went on a bit of a journey to try and figure out what the I wanted. And this is way before I even knew what manifestation was. And I knew that I sought freedom.
Yes.
So what did that look like? Well, initially, I was just watching motivational content on YouTube just to keep me going in that day job. And. And then I was like. And then I saw some people making a living on the Internet with their laptops and they were traveling the world, and it was this thing called affiliate marketing. And I really like the idea of that. So I was in this process for this six months of, like, figuring out what all this was. And then a lot of people know this next part of the story. And then one evening in February 2019, so we're talking six months after. I never used to piece this beginning story in, by the way. And I'll tell you why in a moment. Lying in bed with my wife. Typical evening on a Tuesday. I remember it really well. 10pm, watching something on Netflix. And as I rolled over to go to sleep and my wife, Khorasan, carried on watching Netflix, a very strange sensation started to spread across my body, starting at the base of my feet, encapsulating my whole body. An intense, very intense vibration. So intense that it felt like I was hovering off the bed. But it was not painful, and I was really interested to know what was going on. So I allowed it to continue. And then followed by a really high pitch ring in both ears. And then it went silent. And I heard a voice. And the voice was what sounded like it was at the opposite end of a sports hall, getting closer and closer. And the voice said, Matt, it's Mom. Can you. Can you hear me? And it blew me away, Olivia, because it was my mom, and she'd passed away 18 months before. And as I exchanged a few words, Coruscant nudged me. I turned to tell her, turn back, and my mom had gone. So that was. That was my real moment of realization that there's more to reality than meets the eye.
Yes.
And I was absolutely hooked at that moment right there. And I then went on a bit of a journey initially to figure out how I could connect with her again. And every single night for two weeks, I tried to recreate the same scene. And it never happened again. And I realized in that moment that wanting was the problem, hence the book, Beyond Wanting, that I never tried for it to happen. And I knew I didn't want to become a medium. I was just absolutely obsessed with the unseen forces, the unseen. And that's when I started getting into manifestation. Right. But then when I tie it back now, and that's why only writing this book, I realized that the story that I'd often been missing was the reflexology part, because I used to just go straight in with how I connected with my mum, not realizing that. Actually the groundwork for my mom to connect with me was the awareness of me raising my vibration. That helped my mom connect, because mediums are called mediums because they help people connect in the middle. So to answer the question, in a long way. In a long way. That's how I got here. And then, of course, as we can carry on from there, I started to discover manifestation.
Matt, I remember you talking about your mother when she passed. She. She shared something with you. She really wanted you to live a full life. She did, yeah. Can you just share her words? Because I find them really powerful myself when I listen to them. And I believe, you know, so many people are like you. You are, you know, in the corporate world. And some people get to, you know, retirement age and realize that they haven't done it for themselves, they've done it for the wrong reasons. So I think that that will really help people to make a pivot if they're, you know, thinking about it or will just help them. What did your mother say to you?
Well done for remembering that. So my mum was given six weeks to live in 2016, and she lived for 18 months. She had brain, bone and breast cancer. And I remember going to visit her in a hospice. And, you know, she'd always struggled, My mum always struggled financially. Like, it was like, you know, she. It was that situation, that classic situation. She worked really hard. She was always waiting for retirement. She had a good job, she was cabin crew. So she flew around the world. And, you know, she always provided for us, but she never felt like she quite had enough. And when I was with her, she said to me a few things. She said, firstly, Matt, I'm more abundant now than I've ever been in my life, because right now all I care about is living. And the irony of that is she said, I've got so much money, firstly. Which I remember so clearly, because for the first time in her life, she was never. She was not focused on the lack of money because it wasn't important anymore. Firstly, I thought that was so interesting. But secondly, she said to me, she said, matt, you know, Matt, you'll realize how precious life is when you're in this situation. And there she was, of course, like, in the face of death. And she just said. She held my hand, and she just said, travel, have fun. Create memories and laugh. Because when you're in my position, you'll realize how precious life is. And that was just before she passed away. And actually, that's probably why I felt that tight chest, because those words were one of the last conversations I had with her, stayed in my mind for. For a good 14 months leading up to that reflexology session. And the reason it was probably so, like, tight. It made me feel so tight was because I didn't know how at the time to fulfill what my mom was saying. Like, she was saying, travel, live your best life. Be happy. Smile. And I was like, but how. How can I do that in my corporate job? So those words are the reason why, to this day, a Monday for me is the best day of the week. Make Monday great. Because to me, it's a memory of my mom. And also that I think so many of us associate Monday as the worst day of the week. And I always said to myself, it was the first ever manifestation of mine, that if you can make Monday the day of the week, you're living a pretty good life. Yeah. Wow.
That's so beautiful. Matt, can I ask you. Because I've heard you speak about. When you connected to your mother, did any part of you feel fear or, like, apprehension? Or did you feel scared? Because the reason I ask is because I shared with you, like, I lost my brother Derek when he was younger, and there's been times when I felt him really close. Now I've never, you know, heard him speaking to me. It's like a presence I feel, but sometimes I feel I shut it down because I get scared. And it's like my mother often says to me, like, why? What are you scared about? Like, I'd love if Derek came to me and started talking, but I have a huge fear about that. I guess it's the whole unseen. And. Yeah. I just wanted to ask you. I've always wondered that, when you talk about it, were you any bit scared?
Never. Wow. Never. No. Because what do you. What do we. When we. I love to use logic and intellect to demystify spirituality. And what I. Where I go to answer this question is it's a complete illusion, Olivia, to believe that they're not here. Because we are only seeing a slither of reality, you know, from the entire electromagnetic spectrum. We're seeing less than 0.01%. So we're seeing nothing. What we think is real is just energy vibrating slower than the speed of light. So we can't see wi fi waves, we can't see radio waves. And there's a law in thermo thermodynamics which dictates that energy can never be destroyed nor created. It can only move. So when we die, really, what is death? Death is just the awareness in the soul vibrating faster than the speed of light, so we can't see it. So spirit is here now.
Yes.
Right. But just because we can't see it, we're led to believe that it doesn't exist. But just because we can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. So if I said to you, if your brother was here now, would you. And you could see him, would you be scared?
No.
No. But it's because of our program that we're. We are. The way we are raised is to believe whatever we can't see, we fear. You know? So the analogy is, if you're in a cave, and that cave is your survival, it keeps you warm, it keeps you protected from the elements, but you don't know what's outside the cave. We're wired in a way to protect ourselves from the danger that exists outside of the cave because we can't see it. And that's the same thing in a way. So to answer your question, no, I'm not afraid. But what you're doing, though, is because it is just energy, is by fearing, you are lowering your vibration and essentially putting an energetic block around you and making it harder for him to connect. Because for him to really connect on your level, it's a slowering of vibration and energy for him to connect as well, you know?
Yeah.
So you might hear, like, ringing in ears. You. You might have what I had an actual conversation, which is rare, or objects moving and things, you know, and that we forget how hard that is for spirit to do.
Yes. Lights.
I think that's one. Yeah, lights. You know, objects, numbers, they're always trying to get our, like. It's hilarious for them because they, you know, we're so, like, distracted. They're here now.
Yes, they're here now.
And all we have to do is just connect. That's all mediums do. Like, mediums have that. We all have that gift, but theirs is just heightened. So all they do is, if you watch them, they just get present. Right. And they just are able to connect.
And did anyone else ever, like, speak to you apart from your mother?
No.
Okay.
Yeah.
That's One thing I had wondered as well.
No, never. And a lot of people ask me whether I've ever spoken to my mom like that again. And the answer is no. And to be honest with you, I've connected with her a lot through meditation and dreams. And I can talk about dreams and why people don't use dreams, and they should, but that first ever connection was so powerful. It was meant to happen. It was a trigger. And I don't want to ruin it in a way, because it was the origin, like yours, your origin story. And it's like a good movie. Sometimes movies get ruined, and they just keep making them and making them and making them. It's always the original, which was the best, you know. So, yeah, the answer is no in that way.
So I shared with you about the accident I was in. And, like, I remembered the moments that I thought I was going to die. And it became very clear to me in the moments what was important. And, you know, it was my little son just flashed through my face, and I had this longing just to be with him. And, you know, I thought of my family. I thought about how quickly life can change. But afterwards, you know, when I was in hospital, I just. I knew life was precious before, and I was very spiritual before, but there is this, like, a heightened appreciation for my life and my time here and what I was going to do with it. And that's why, like, I just love having you on the podcast today because I wanted to just talk about manifestation. You know, if there's somebody listening that is, like, in the job that they don't love at the moment, to know that they can. They have a choice, you know, and a chance. Sometimes we can just feel blocked and stuck and stagnant, but it's to remember, like, the possibility that exists out there. So can you share, like, more about manifestation? How would you define it?
First of all, manifestation is the deliberate act of bringing something that you desire into the physical realm through using thought, feeling, and action. That simple. Now, that sounds. When I heard that for the first time, I was like, yeah, right. No way. When I was, like most of us, raised in a way that you only get what you want through working hard. Well, when I started to study the unseen.
Yes.
And started to study energy, what I discovered was that everything physical, this table, this microphone, our bodies originates from somewhere. And if you break down anything to its purest form, you eventually arrive at unifying fields of energy. And these unifying fields of energy create the first structure of physical reality. They're called subatomic particles. And then you can build up from there all the way to our physical bodies and physical objects. But everything breaks down to the same place. Unifying fields of energy. And this unifying field of energy is. Is infinite. It's an infinite field of energy. And now energy is never still. It's always in a state of movement. And that movement is referred to as vibration. And vibration moves at different speeds. And the speed of that vibration is called frequency. And frequency, like a radio frequency, holds information. So when we use logic, if it's an infinite field of energy carrying information, then anything you desire, good and bad, exists. Simple, hard to wrap your head around, because we only believe that we see what's here, not what doesn't. But this is science. This is quantum mechanics, which is because I'm naturally a skeptic. I think that's why I connected with my mom, because it was the surest thing that something else exists. So then, when you start studying quantum mechanics in this unifying field, the question is, how does it turn from energy to matter? It's one word, and it's the most powerful, powerful word that exists that's not spoken about enough. And that word is observation. Observation on a quantum level is what turns energy to matter. What's. So energy is known as the wave, and physical reality is known as the particle. So what turns wave to particle is an observer, you and I, or a camera, Anything that's measuring something. And that, in quantum mechanics, is called collapse of the wave function. So simple to understand. The question is, though, where's your observation?
Mm.
Yeah. Most people's observation is rooted in lack.
Yes.
Or wanting.
Wanting energy.
So people might be listening to this going, I just want my life to change. I wish I just had more money. I'd love freedom. How did Matt do it? I'll never get out of this job. Good things don't happen to me. I'll be single forever. So if the unifying field turns from energy to matter through observation. Yeah. And people are observing their reality from that lens, why don't they get what they want? And that's because the unifying field is a mirror. It's as simple as that. If you were to stand in front of an actual physical mirror. Yes. And stare into it with a sad face and go, I just want to see a smile.
Yes.
You know that you'll only ever see a smile the moment you smile. So the universe, Just so people know, when I say the universe, I also refer to the unifying field or the quantum field. It always says yes. So if you say, I want love. What you'll continue experiencing is more wanting of love. If you want more money, you'll continue experiencing more wanting of money. It's really that simple. And it's. And I found the science because if I can go from someone unfulfilled as an estate agent to like you said now, which is hard to believe sometimes, but a world's leading face in manifestation, that's crazy. I don't. I wouldn't have believed that only a few years ago, but it already existed. Yes. So that is, that is a simple understanding of how it works.
I totally related to your story of how you got the house in Cornwall, and I know you speak about it in your book as well. Similar story with me and Dun Maurice de Seaside Town. So I feel I just can everything. I think you make it clear and simple. It's still. I know it can be hard to get your head around, but I totally believe in the power of manifestation. I just, I cannot believe all that is happening in my life at the moment, all of the abundance. And I just know it's. It is possible for everyone. But it's like you need to get into alignment. One thing I love that you speak about as well, that I haven't heard other people talk about is you talk about nervous system regulation, the importance of that when you're manifesting emotional coherence. Can I talk a bit about that?
Yeah.
So. And it's from the perspective of if we think about like people that are going through a trauma and manifestation feels so far away. And, you know, I know even at different points in my life, if I've been caught in low vibrations like grief, you know, and I know grief is one of the lowest vibrations, but it's so hard, I think, when you know it and you're still stuck in it and finding it hard to get out of it, that it can just feel so far away. And the word can even feel annoying because I guess it's the personal responsibility piece, you know, that you need to change, you need to take action, but you feel stuck. So what would you say to people that do feel stuck at the moment because of something happening in their life?
So, great question. My. My publishing house Penguin, asked me to write an article potentially for the New York Times. And the. The. The name of the article is dream smaller to manifest faster. So the problem, the nervous system, the subconscious represents 95% of who we are. So let's just take someone listening to this who's in, who can resonate and relate to what you've just asked me. They might have a desire consciously to change their life, to get out of their corporate job, whatever that is that's coming from 5% of who they are. But 95% of who they are is a subconscious program, like a nervous system. You know, they might be dysregulated. So they might, let's say, consciously hold the intention of like, seeking love, but subconsciously feel the complete opposite. So I always say, look, why is no one talking Enough of reverse engineering their manifestation. So if someone's facing trauma right now, okay, take whatever it is that you're seeking and just keep saying to yourself, let me break it down. Down, down, down, down, down, all the way to what is the next step from where you are now.
Yes.
And maybe that is just coming to peace with the trauma and instead of fighting it, resonating with it. So, you know, as human beings, we forget that we. We all face trauma, we all face sadness. You know, we all do. Even someone like me now who feels like I've, like, got to a point where I've mastered this. I haven't. So what I do is I could just go, okay, well, look, why. Instead of why is this happening to me? Let me journal on why is this happening for me and what, what could I learn about this and how might this help me going forward long term? Like your accident and how that may have helped you with your trajectory of where you're going. And I think that there, people forget is like the one of the first things they can do. Because if they can face it, resonate with it, understand it, break it down and come to peace with it and try and understand it, that there is going to be so much better at helping them manifest their dream than staying there and only holding the intention of whatever it is that they seek. Because that separation from two points is.
Creating it's complete resistance to others. Yes.
It's creating lack. It's creating separation. It's creating anxiety. And the hope from where they are to where they want to be seems so big that it actually reinforces the trauma that they're in.
That's so true.
So to me, it's just like, well, if you're gonna climb a mountain, there's checkpoints along the way. Isn't that like, you know, I haven't climbed Everest, but anyone. And if we ever watch or listen to anyone who has, they start at base camp.
Yes.
And then they go to all these different, like, camps along the way. And that's how I see manifestation. You know, and here's the Other thing, Olivia, it's a complete illusion. Complete illusion to believe that what you want is the destination. It's not because whenever you get there, you'll always have another bright idea of where you're going next. So. So start seeing this as more like a journey with checkpoints along the way.
Matt, I love how you talk about your. Our higher selves and you know when you get them bright ideas.
Yeah.
Is it your higher self speaking to you? Do you believe?
I actually think it's multiple things, so. And there's a new. There's a new science emerging on this. And actually it came to me first and then I heard it. So there is a. There's a larger consciousness system at play. And yes, you could call that your higher self. Now it depends which angle you want to look at this. There is a new emerging science and field that we're living in a simulation. And actually like, there's a part of me that believes it fully. And if that is the case, then if. Let's just take it from this angle. If we are in a simulation, this is like a video game, then there's a player playing avatars in a game. So you and I are characters in a game and there's a player playing us. And that player would be your higher self or a larger consciousness system. Whether you look at like a video game or not, the truth is this isn't our only existence. Death is just waking up from a dream.
Yes.
So. So your heart, you can't take, and obviously I've done a lot of work on that side to understand this. You can't take the totality of your energy into a physical body because it's not strong enough to hold. So we take a fragment of that energy into a physical body and that's what then I call in it we are individuated units of consciousness. So the other parts of our consciousness exists in a higher plane, if you like. And that's our higher self. Now, time is a man made construct here on Earth. Time does not exist. It exists though, for the purpose of us to navigate life here. Like, it's very important for us to understand that. But if you stop and think about it, we've never actually existed in a future or the past. We've only ever existed in the now. So a larger consciousness or a higher self exists outside of time. So that would be a little bit like someone who's able to edit this podcast. They can watch it in the present moment, but at the same time when they edit it, they can. They know what's coming next, and they can fast forward. Now, the other way to look at it is that, technically speaking, if time doesn't exist, then what that means is every possible version of you and I is also simultaneously existing, including a future version of you. So a future version of you could quite easily send a past version of you a message. But if I was to say to you, olivia, if you were going to send a younger version of yourself a message, how would you do that? You couldn't, like, pick up the phone to her. What you would do is probably, like, send a thought or a prayer. You know, you'd send something, and that would be picked up intuitively in this moment. So there's like a really new emerging science that actually the messages that we get, intuition that we're getting, could be coming from a future version of ourself that actually was already coexisting here in this moment, but is, you know, because I stop and think, no, if I was going to try and communicate with Matt now, I'd send in the fours. Four, four, four.
Would you?
Yeah, because it's like my favorite number. And I know he's now figuring out what angel numbers mean. And therefore, if I was going to try and encourage him in any way, I'd just keep sending the fours and then he'd pick that up, you see? So it's.
And that's something over the last year, and I, like, say, even Yvonne was on my podcast that we would talk to each other every week. And the number, the moment in my life are just. I. I am shocked. And I'm wondering, is it just because I'm more aware of them? But even this morning, for example, I woke up, looked at my phone, it was 555. During the week, I woke up, I hit the snooze, and then when I looked at the Timer, it was 555. It's all around me. And I feel with every part of my being that there is profound change coming. And I'm so glad that I'm so connected to that part of myself and, like, just say consciousness that exists, I trust 100% in my path. I believe it's pulling me forward. That's what I feel. It's like I feel like I'm being kind of pulled out of certain things and into others. I feel like I'm. My soul is fully aligning now in my life, and I think that that's amazing. But can I talk to you a bit about science?
Yeah, sure.
So how would you describe science?
Well, let's Talk about angel numbers first, because they're the big one. So people might see 5, 5, 5, 11, 11, you know, 3, 3, 3, 3. Firstly, understand that numbers rule our existence. If you just stop and think about it, we can't really do anything without numbers. Right. Money, radio stations, zoom calls, everything. And like Pythagoras said, numbers rule the universe. So if there was a. Think about this. If there was a larger aspect of your own consciousness trying to keep you on soul path. But Olivia has. There's a part of her that's forgotten. And at the same time, she lives within an avatar body. That's a program that's living in a very, very, very busy world.
Yes.
There's a lot going on and there's a version of yourself trying to get your attention. Yeah, let's think about how it would do that. Let's just use logic for a moment. Well, it couldn't whisper in our ear because it's not a human, it's energy. So how would it do it? Okay, well, if numbers rule the universe. Numbers. But why not just 2, 2. Why is it always 2, 2, 2 or 2 2, 2, 2? That's because we're very primal. And what that means is the repetition or the triple aspect or the quadruple aspect gets our attention. So initially we start seeing. Oh, my God, I'm seeing 555. There it is again. There it is again. So what happens is in our brain we have a. What's called the ras, the reticular activating system. And its primary function every day is to essentially block incoming sensory information. That's not important. So we're. We're seeing billions of photons every day that are coming in, but the majority of it's not important. And it wants to act as a gatekeeper and only bring in the stuff that is important. So it's like when you see a new car, when you're. When you're thinking about a new car, all of a sudden you see that car everywhere. It was always there. But why are you seeing it? Because normally your ras blocks it out. It's not important. But now you're giving it attention, so it primes it. So two things are happening. First, the larger self gives you signs to get your attention. Then we prime it with the RAs, and then. And then we catch it. And then it's so much easier for the larger consciousness system to keep sending us signs because now we've primed the RAs, and you keep seeing five five, five, five, five, five. And it's like, I know, I know. I know. I'm being guided to change, you see, on that. And we could talk about it. But if 5. The reason 5 means change is the one thing that we take for granted as a human being is five senses. Our ability. Sight, sound, taste, touch, smell. What a soul craves and loves and misses is a human experience. The ability to touch and to taste and to feel the ocean on our back. And we take it for granted. And that's why when we. When. When one senses. When we lose a sense, other senses are heightened as well. So, you know, five means change or freedom or expansion. Because a soul loves to incarnate into five senses. Because with five senses it can move and it can experience. So that's. That's. So a soul is always seeking expansion, always seeking freedom. It hates feeling trapped.
Yeah. Oh, my God. And I feel. I feel that word freedom. It's like. That's what I. I feel that with every, like, fiber of my being at the moment. And honestly, Matt, like, I feel like I'm getting goosebumps head to toe because it's just. I cannot believe how. I don't know. I. I guess I'm more aware. I'm listening more than ever. And that. It's just so many signs. It's amazing to be able to just tune into it at such a deep level. So you talk about the subconscious and dreams being a really, like, gay. A good gateway to manifestation. Can you talk about that? Because that's something I haven't really done. I might have dreams, but I haven't, like, wrote them down, like you say. Can you talk a bit about that?
Yeah. Before we go on to that, let me just say one thing about angel numbers. Because I know a lot of people might be saying, oh, well, I'm seeing threes. What does it mean?
Yes.
Just remind me to say that in. In. In my. In my book Beyond Wanting, I'm giving away a free chapter with every pre order. And that. That has a. As you know. Because you've read it.
Yeah.
It breaks down the meaning of every single angel number. So if someone's listening to this and go, what does 4, 4, 4 mean? They can. They can check that out. So the. Okay, let's think about this in two ways. Right now, you and I are in what's called beta brainwaves. And I want everyone to imagine beta brainwaves is like being on the surface of a very busy ocean. Big, busy waves. And that's what's happening in the brain. It's actually really hard to think straight in beta brainwaves, when we sleep at night, we slow down from Beta to Alpha. Alpha is the first level of the subconscious mind. And the concept of daydreaming is when we're in a low range beta and high range Alpha. So Beta means day, Alpha means dream. So if anyone can resonate with when they listen to something, one minute they're listening, the next they're in their own world. And that's because they're in low range beta, high range Alpha. Day dream. Day dream.
Day dream.
So in order to manifest, really what we want to do is we want to get out of Beta and into the imaginary state Alpha. And then if we slow down even more, we can get down to Theta. And then if we're really, really good, we can even get down to Delta. And what happens then is the body's like super asleep. We're in the nervous system, we're in the program. But we can that conscious awareness and visualize. And that's really what we're trying to do with manifestation. You can't fake it till you make it. You can't pretend you've got money. If you haven't, you can't pretend you're in love. But when you slow down your brain to Alpha and Theta, the brain subconsciously does not know the difference between what's real and what's imagined. Firstly. So when you're, when you meditate down there, you can visualize a narrative in a story and your body actually subconsciously believes it's happening. Like, it cannot scientifically discern the difference. Firstly, like anyone who remembers a nightmare, you wake up from a nightmare and you absolutely in that moment thought it was real. Your heart's racing, you're sweating, and then you go, oh, no, it's just a dream. So why are dreams important? Well, dreams are important, firstly, because we all do it every single night. Some of us are much better at remembering than others. And if anyone wonders, like, I like my jewelry, but here I'm wearing an aura ring. And an aura ring tracks my sleep. So it's got senses inside it. And that's because for me, dream sleeping is the foundation of everything. Yes. So you've got to make sure you get in enough REM sleep. So obviously having Humphrey and he's now.
I was just, I was just thinking of Humphrey. How do you manage that?
So, I mean, he's now sleeping 12 hours, which is amazing. But obviously, the, you know, the last seven, eight months, my dreams haven't been that great because I haven't had enough REM Sleep now. REM sleep, rapid eye movement is when you know there's activity in the brain but you're dreaming. So there's a few things you can do. Like, firstly, we all sleep every night. And if we get better at sleeping and we track it and we get better at having longer periods, about seven hours, scientifically is key, then the key is to start remembering our dreams. Just by saying, before you go to sleep tonight, I will remember my dreams. And then as soon as you wake up in the morning, write down your dreams, people. It makes so much sense to me. A third of our life is spent sleeping. Why not use it as the most incredible vehicle? You know, we can go and do plant medicine, ayahuasca, psilocybin, we can go and do silent retreats, meditation. We can do all of that in our waking state. But we sleep for seven hours on average a night. Why not use dreaming to go and get answers? So I use dream dreams in several ways. If there's a complex manifestation that I can't consciously work out, I'll give it up to a larger consciousness system to show me in a dream. Now, because dreams are fluid and they're outside of the construct of time, when we remember dreams, sometimes you feel like we've lived a whole lifetime and we've jumped around so many different, like scenes in a dream. How can we do that? It's because when we dream and we essentially come out of 3D, we can, we, we can experience eternal time in a dream. So in a dream, you can be shown a solution to a manifestation that you're struggling with. So how you do that is you just as you're falling asleep. This is from the Jose Silva, my method control. I learned from him that you take a problem that you've got in your life and you turn it into a solution to solve. So as you're lying in bed, just before you go to sleep, you show your problem on a mental screen and you say, this is the issue that I'm facing. This is my problem. I'd love some clarity on how to do this. I now give it to you to turn into a solution to solve. And as you give it up, it then has this beautiful opportunity because you've asked it to show you in a dream. And that's some of my biggest manifestations have come from that. Or you come out of that dream and you're presented with a very clear sign. When you get really good at it, which is I've been studying dreams now for a long time, you can do something called Lucid dreams. I love lucid dreams. I haven't been that great over the last year because of having a baby. But lucid dreaming is where you train yourself to wake up in a dream. And when you wake up in a dream, you say, am I dreaming you? And I'll talk you through that. And the moment you know you're dreaming but you're consciously aware, you then have full control over the dream. And that means then you can go anywhere, do anything, meet loved ones, go and ask questions. Like, I know this sounds crazy, but one of the first things I did when I, when I, when I got lucid in a dream was meet Einstein at a bar to ask him about collapse of the wave function. I wanted to know from him, like the, one of the founders of quantum mechanics is manifestation real? And he just said, yes, yes, you know, and that was just like, wow.
Like this moment, it feels like a huge opportunity, that mania, like I'm not tapping into it. And I really want to know, do you think or how do you think about this? A lot of people say the soul leaves the body when you sleep. What do you think about that or how do you view that?
I think there's this. Never disconnected from the body because this can. They call it like a silver cord. And the silver cord is death. Where, like it's where when the cords shredded and gone, severed, that's death. So I, I absolutely believe so. So dreaming is the same as what's known as ob, out of body experiences. It's just your consciousness in a sense coming out of like density. And through dreaming you, there's an opportunity to go and chat to, you know, loved ones. Or that's why when you dream about your loved ones, you actually have been there with them. You know, you might go and meet like, honestly, if I could have, if I was listening to what I'm saying now, a few years ago, there's no way I would, I would have thought he's lost it. You know, sometimes because what I talk about, sometimes I have to remind myself that like, this is so real what I'm talking about. And we're led to, we know nothing, so we can even, you know, we're protected at all times. We have guides that are with us. We have, we have other consciousness systems that are always here to protect us. And through, through that dream time, we often go back to them and sort of, how am I getting on? And you know, but there's a thing here in density called amnesia that we forget. And that's why when you wake up From a dream and you're coming from theta to alpha to beta, a dream dissolves very quickly. Yeah. We can all experience remembering a dream and then later on in the day going, what happened?
Yeah.
And that there, just so everyone knows, is exactly what happens when we incarnate into a physical body. When you're a baby, you remember. That's why babies up until the age of 7 on average can tell you very clearly, I was your grandpa in a, you know, past life or. Because just like remember in a dream, they can still remember because they're in theta. Children. Yeah, yeah. So when we wake up from a dream, we're in theta. And as children get older and they develop alpha and beta, they forget. So it's just like us waking up from a very vivid dream. And as we coming up into beta brainwaves, we then forget. So that's why writing down so important. So it's called amnesia and we forget. Yeah.
Matt, I'm just here thinking, James, my little boy is four, and he said something the other like three weeks ago that really. It scared me.
What did he say? Can you say?
Yeah, I'm only after thinking of it, I said it to my husband at the time. So we were in the living room and there was a little white feather on the ground. I think it was from one of the cushions on my sofa. And I just said, look at this little white feather. And I was just, I think, rubbing it on his. His nose. And he said, oh, the man in your room had one of those last night. And it scared the life out of me now. And I was like, you know, kids, I didn't want to ask too much or he wouldn't say anything. So I was like, what man? Yeah, he did say the man. And he said between the curtains. And anyway, you can imagine what I was thinking. I was really scared. And I brought him down to the room and then I was just playing with him in the room and I said, whereabouts? Ozzy? And he was like, up there. And anyway, that's as much as I got from him. And look at, you know, maybe, you.
Know, he saw Mum.
That's what he said.
Yeah, he did. And that, you know, I said to you earlier about your brother.
Yes.
Why are children never scared? Because they're seeing someone as clear as they're seeing you. So why would they be scared? Yes, we're scared because we can't see what they're seeing. And we're conditioned to believe what we can't see is fearful. Yeah, yeah, but because they're still so close to the other side still. So. So James is your son?
Yeah.
So he's now in what's probably like, like Alpha brainwaves now. So maybe still theta, maybe still Alpha. I'd imagine he'll believe anything you tell him. Still at this age. Yeah, but he's still so close. So it's like waking up from a dream and going, oh, I was with that person in that dream, wasn't I?
Yeah.
It's the same thing, Olivia. Only when he gets older will he start to forget.
Yes. What do you think, then, is our purpose here? You know, I've heard a lot about soul contracts. Like, why do you think we're here? And you know, when you say, as well, like, when we wake up, you know, we can forget our dreams, the density of our. We're just so disconnected at times. What's the point of it all? Like, you know, it's so important to keep remembering, to be conscious, to be present. But what do you think the point of it all is?
I know exactly. Without going really deep. So there's a. There's a. There's a concept in physics called entropy. And entropy is just how energy moves. So you can take what's called high entropy and low entropy. And high entropy is when energy is very incoherent. What that means is energy is very haphazard. It breaks down. It's not very structured. The way to imagine high entropy is when you build a sandcastle on the beach with James. When you lift that book, you know that that sand is in what, a state of low entropy? Very structured, very ordered. Yeah. If you left it there, every. Everything in this world is always in a state of high entropy. Because if you left that sand castle there, what would happen to it very quickly? It would be good. It would break down, wouldn't it, and return back to just sand. So what, what we are, if you think of source consciousness, the origin of the universe, God, whatever you want to call it, it's just energy. And energy itself is in a state of high entropy. So the reason we're here is to help it lower its entropy and remain structured, just like the sandcastle. So the reason we are here is twofold. Firstly, people say to evolve, you know, to spiritually evolve, to grow, to love. It is love. Like, love is coherence, love is lowering entropy. So if we remember how to love, we contribute to lowering entropy, which helps the universe continue to grow and thrive and evolve very simply. So why do we forget? Well, if I said to you, hey, Olivia, how do you know what love is? What would you say?
I would say it's a feeling.
And that feeling you now know because you have love. So. And that's because at some point in your life, potentially, you were wanting that love. Or maybe you dreamed of having a husband and having a child. You know, this is a different type of love between that and, let's say, your parents, you know, it's a different love, isn't it, with the child? So you. But you know what that means. Like, if I sit here now and I think of love and I think of, like, Coruscant, my wife with her head on my shoulder, or my son Humphrey with his head here turned that way, and I can go there. I only know what that feeling is because at some point it didn't exist.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So the forgetting, which is called duality, is exactly what. Why we're here. To forget in order to remember, to lower entropy. Now, in order for that to happen, we have to be given free will. So souls incarnate into bodies. They forget, they remember initially, like James, when they're young. And then a lot of. A lot of souls are completely asleep. They haven't awoken, they haven't had an experience, and they live their life believing that they are just that character. And then they die and they go, oh, I didn't wake up in that. That dream, did I? Like, you know, so what we. What a soul will have is what's called a destiny or a destination, a theme. So you could say what yours is and what triggered that and what mine is and what triggered mine. And I. I don't know necessarily what mine is. I'd imagine I'm on sole purpose. Because you just know when. When. When the work you do doesn't feel like work.
Yes.
Yeah. That's when you know your soul's. You're in alignment.
Yeah.
And you just keep following it and trusting. And, you know, you say to yourself, okay, if entropy is a thing, do. The work I'm doing is contributing to, like, helping people love and to evolve. Yes. So then I believe my soul's on track. And at the same time, we get given this incredible ability to have free will and make choices. And, you know, we can say something to someone that's not very nice, and we learn from that and we go, ah, I'll remember not to do that again. You know, so we need the duality of experience, and we're given the ability to manifest. So the soul. Soul has a destination.
Yes.
But then if I want to manifest a beautiful range rover Mm. I can.
Yeah.
You know, and if someone wants to manifest their dream house, they can, you know, because that's free will.
Yes.
So we have a destiny, a destination, a theme that the soul's looking to move through. And then we have a character where we have a soul in a program with free will. Okay, that makes sense.
Yes, it does. 100%. Can I ask, then, arrange, like privilege and manifestation, say, for people that are born into conflict zones, experience an extreme hardship. How do you get your head around that contrast then?
Yeah, it's actually a delicate point, of course, because I know that we're always in a state of manifestation. It's science. However, I'm not saying people have manifested their way into war zones.
Yes.
Because there's two factors. First is what's called collective observation. So if we. A lot of people can't help their families. They're born into the environment that they're in, the country that they're in, and they can be brainwashed into a narrative that might collectively manifest an outcome. Firstly. So people. People haven't manifested themselves into war zones. If you. And this isn't my truth. If I. If I studied the truth of people that have explored past lives.
Yes.
Dolores Cannon. Brian Weiss. You know, I could go on.
Yeah, I've read.
Yeah. And you. And you. You study past lives. And that's my obsession through connecting with my mom. You understand that really a soul is always. If it's looking to lower its entropy and looking to evolve, what. What it sometimes tries to do, is it. And if you read these teachers and read their work, a soul will always carefully think about its next incarnation and where it would like to incarnate, what it would like to experience. So some souls, according to these teachers, choose these countries and choose these environments for their soul essentially, to learn. And if you think about it, some souls are born into royalty, born into celebrity families.
Yes.
A very easy ride for that soul. Very easy. There's not many lessons to learn, you know, Whereas a soul that's born into poverty, you know, we'll learn a lot more in that lifetime, you know, so it's. That's. That's coming from. Because that was a question I had, you know, how does that work for souls in that. In that case as well, you know?
And do you believe we've multiple. Do you believe we keep incarnating?
Yeah.
Yes.
And that's only because I. For the work of them, but I've also done past life regression. My wife's done past life regression. And it's a concept I really struggle with, up until recently is the idea of it all happening now. If you listen to any past life regression therapist who've regressed thousands of people, all these people slow down their brainwaves and can go into a past life, you'd think it would happen in a linear way. So, like Olivia, I'd regress you down into your past life in the early 1900s, and then from there into the late 1800s, and you keep going backwards. Makes sense. And that's what a lot of original past life regression therapists thought. But now there's a thing called future progression where you can be regressed. Not regressed, but progressed into a future life. So what the thing that baffled me was, if I do a past life regression, why is it that I can go back 500 years ago to being, you know, a woman in Iceland? Because you're not. You also flip between, you know, sexes as well. You might be a female and a male. And that's because when you, when you do a past life regression, if you don't go back to the immediate life, let's say you go back 500 years in our time, what you're actually doing is you're actually resonating right now during your past life regression experience on the same frequency as the frequency of that life 500 years ago. So from that angle in regression, you're able to watch that life playing out and see what choices that version of you is making on the same frequency.
Wow. It's so hard to get your head around. So, like, do you believe we just keep. When, when does it end? How do you, like, think about that side of it?
Well, the question is, I suppose, is there any more lessons to learn? Okay, you know, so, you know, if you, if you look at. Take an athlete, any athlete normally watch, watches himself back on videotape to see whether they could, you know, do any better. Could I have changed anything there? So in a sense, when it's called like the, the Life Review, like when we pass over, we watch our life back, but not from the perspective of us, like, playing like that athlete. We watch it back, like from the cameras, you know, so from everyone in it, and we look at our life and we go, could I have done better there? Yeah, I could have. I could have just practiced love just a little bit more. And then we go, oh, let's go back and do it again. But the great thing is just everyone knows you always reincarnate with the same.
Soul cluster, really, but they might be different showing up different.
So your child might have been your grandparent in the past life. So that's really nice. You know, so you're, you're always. And that's like when you have a child. I don't know if you experience this, but especially with Humphrey, remembrance comes back. You start to look into their eyes and go, I remember you. I remember you. Where have you been? It's great to have you back, you know?
Yeah, it's. Yeah, there's nothing like that, love. Yeah. I have experienced that with James. Oh my. This is just blowing my mind. Your book. Can we talk a bit about that? So when is it? It's out on the 11th. Of the 11th.
Yeah.
So beyond wanting, the art of true manifestation.
Yeah.
Yes. Why should people buy your book?
Because I, I'm gonna be honest, I wrote this book for the younger version of myself that was really struggling. I thought, you know, this book for me is what would I want to hear? What would. What would I. What would. What would be that one book and that's, you know, and I thought I'm going to put everything I know into this. The science of manifestation, you know, signs, the power of intention and thought and feeling. I'm going to use real life stories because I think as human beings we love stories like here today on this podcast, we've just shared stories. So it's filled not with just my stories, but my clients stories, celebrity stories, well known authors, other people's stories, Quantum Mechanics, Demystifying the mystical. And it, it's the all encompassment of, of what I know is truth. And the title Beyond Wanting is this realization of course that you know, look, wanting is a great place to start, but you don't attract into your life what you want. You attract into your life who you're being. So this book helps people move beyond wanting and actually into fully embodying what it is that they seek. And the moment you embody what you see, seek and move beyond wanting. The word beyond to me represents so much. I love the name beyond. And it's a. It's a. It's a structure, it's a guide. And at the end of every chapter there are. Is a practical aspect too. So it's a practical companion. And the idea is that you get to the end of the book, read it sequentially, and you know exactly how this works.
I cannot wait to read all of your book. I'm doing your evolve course at the moment. It's like I've wanted to do it for so long and anyway, this is the right time for me. I'm absolutely Loving it. One quote I wanted to mention before we finish up is the universe meets you at the depth of your surrender, not at the height of your struggle.
Yeah.
That is so powerful. Like, I just think, for me.
That.
Sums up like, one of your main teachings. Can I ask you, like, about that? Surrender. The power of surrender.
The universe meets you at the depth of your surrender, not at the height of your struggle. Let's think about that. Struggle pushes the dream away. Surrender lets it in. We're led to believe that we have to fight force, manipulate our way to what we seek. If I said to you, what's the intelligence keeping your heart beating? Or what's the intelligence that knows how to grow a baby? Or what's the intelligence that's even keeping Earth in orbit? We can't. We don't understand it. It's far beyond that level of intellect. So why aren't we allowing it to help us? So we co. Create, right? We. We give it intention, we give it a thought, we give it an idea for what we seek, and then we get out of the way. You know, the. The analogy is you. If you're a gardener and you. You plant seeds, you clear the rubble, you clear the way, you work on your limiting beliefs, you plant the seed, you plant the seed of desire. You then show up every day and you water it before the evidence. And when you water it before the evidence, that's just like. You meditate every day. Even though it hasn't appeared in your life, you meditate. You visualize it as if it's already done. If it doesn't manifest that day, you don't stop. Just like a gardener, you show up the next day and you carry on watering. But after the watering and after the meditating, does a gardener then go and kick the seeds, or does it allow Mother nature to do its thing? So that is manifestation. You water your seeds and you get out of the way. And you stay in your heart. You don't worry through the day. You try and practice gratitude. And then when you see signs, when you see opportunity, you take action. The universe meets you at the depth of your surrender once you've watered the seeds, not at the height of your struggle, which is kicking the seeds.
Mash, I love another thing you say, and it's this in a nutshell. Letting go is letting in.
Letting go is letting go. Letting go is allowing the energy in. Resisting is having an energetic shield around you. It's not allowing the energy in. Yeah.
So Mash, my final question, your continued evolution. I'm so curious like, what are you? What. Could you share one of your big manifestations with us for the future?
Well, something that I'm working on.
Yeah.
So it's a really good one and I will. And I think it's a great question actually too. So my. What I'm working on now, like my own manifestations are less tangible. I've manifested and I'm sure my younger self would be incredibly proud. You know, money, success, on paper, you know, a dream house in Cornwall, a dream life where I travel the world. I've only back a few days ago from Belgium and now I'm here and I have a diary full of travel and I'm living my dream life. Materially, I have everything I ever, ever dreamed of. Money, success, happiness, a child, a wife, everything. So what I'm seeking now is knowledge and more knowledge. Because what, what lights me up is learning. And I'm excited to continue going further into the mystical, the other side to take what I'm learning and then share it. So of course, beyond wanting, you know, look, who wouldn't want their book to be a huge success? I'm not chasing a title though. I'm not chasing, like, I'm not putting my whole success on a New York Times. To me, this book, the dream, of course, is that millions of people read it because this book will change lives. And that's the dream. If I can change lives, that's why I'm here. So that, that's what I'm. That's what I'm doing, you know, and actually I just want to, I just want to say one thing too. When it comes to sharing your manifestations, you rarely hear me talk about what I'm manifesting. Like if you just stop and think, like, when was the last time Matt said, oh, I'm manifesting this. And that's because I believe in a concept called conceal your intentions. And what that really means is there's a lot of energy thieves in life. And the moment we over share, we open ourselves up for opinion. And opinions are energy. An opinion then sticks, someone might say, a throwaway comment. Like I once said to family, we're going to move to Cornwall and we're going to manifest a house there. And someone said wishful thinking, you know, and that they might just say that, but that sticks. And that thought becomes an energy thief of your own. So I keep what I'm working on normally very close to me for that reason. That it keeps my energy, it keeps me on a pedestal, it makes me more magnetic.
Yes, I love that Matt I want to say a huge thank you, first of all, for all the work you're doing. I think it's incredibly brave, just your whole journey to step into the unknown, just to trust yourself, trust your gut, follow your intuition. Like, look at what has happened. Like, I watch your Instagram and honestly, I'll never forget the day I saw you in New York with the picture in Penguin Random House. And I was, I was just blown away. I was like, wow, you know, it's absolutely unbelievable. And just thank you for all the work you're doing. Your work is really, really helping me make all of my dreams come true. Thank you so much for coming on my podcast. And it doesn't end here.
No.
We're off to Yvonne Trackian's event now where you'll be sharing all your wisdom with a sold out house of people.
The Sugar Club, 160 people.
Yeah, I can't wait. But thank you so much. I have enjoyed every second of this conversation and I cannot wait to listen back already. Thank you so much.
You're welcome. And thank you so much for having me on. And thank you to everyone listening as well. And you know, like I said earlier, if anyone wants to get the angel numbers, I'm sure there'll be a link on this podcast with every pre order they can download chapter 12, which is a really powerful chapter called Signs.
Amazing.
So, yeah, you know, thank you to everyone who's listened pre ordered the book and you know, I just do this to change lives. So if someone's felt inspired, then mission complete. So thank you.
Thank you so much.
