AI Is Massively Overcooked

Mohammed Adris argues AI in recruitment amplifies what you already do, good or bad. It's not automation software like Zapier. Strong recruiters get better results with it; weak ones just magnify their mistakes. Human skills like closing deals and two-way communication stay irreplaceable.

Okay, so AI is massively, massively overcooked. Okay, I'm saying this because as somebody who is implementing AI as fast as I possibly can in my own business, I want to make this video. This is completely off the cuff. I've got— I just want to get some thoughts off the table and on the table. And I think it's really important that I address it this way. Okay, whenever you're looking at your business, any kind of business, I'm talking specifically about recruitment here. There are certain things that you can do that will give you a competitive advantage. And that competitive advantage could be so good that it becomes unfair compared to some of your competitors. And that's always the thing that you're looking to build, always. Okay, AI is one of those things. I'll tell you what else is a really good competitive advantage is having lots of money in the bank account. Because let's just say you want to buy one of your competitors, something I'm playing with, and there's another person who I'm competing with, and they are fully kitted out with AI, but they have no money in the bank. Guess who's going to win? Okay, so money is another thing you can do. Having a team is another thing that you can do. Amplifying all of your social media activity is another thing that you can do. Having YouTube content, for argument's sake, a podcast, like all of these things are competitive advantages that you can do that will have an impact on your business. At any stage of the journey. Like you could amplify and use AI in the front end of your business when it comes to your marketing and when you're contacting clients and candidates and all of that stuff as well. You can use AI in the delivery aspect of it, how you prospect your clients and candidates and how you get them onboarded and how you payroll your contractors and how you invoice your people. You could use AI there as well. And you can even use AI to regenerate the candidates. So there's a whole host of ways that you can use AI And there are also bad ways that you can use it as well. For a lot of the conversations in the rooms that I'm involved in, my son has just decided to walk into the room. Come here. Yeah, so a lot of the conversations that I'm involved in, they revolve around using AI like a very simple automation tool. Come here, come here. Okay, come here. It's time. Look, look, look, there you go. Okay, so they use AI like as if it's used like a very, very simple automation tool, the kind of thing that you can get Zapier to do. So when you're considering what Zapier can do, that's not what you should be using AI to do. That's a very simple automation tool that would come into play. So AI is used to remove some of the thinking and processing power that is required to do a given task. And that task could be super simple, like producing a Word document or a report, it could be producing a presentation, you can do that. But hey, guess what? You can have the fastest lead generation service, you can have the best way to approach clients and candidates, you can contact the most clients and candidates that you possibly can. But if you don't know how to handle the call when you're on a call with them, you're not getting anything out of it. So hold that thought, because, and I've said this a few times before, AI is there to amplify what you do. So if you are bad at recruitment and you use AI, you will amplify bad recruitment and bad things will happen to you, your business. Oh my God. And the way that you work. But if you use AI to— I'm gonna have to get this guy. So if you use AI to amplify good recruitment, then all of a sudden everything works a lot better. So AI is there to amplify good things. Do not use it to amplify bad things. Do not use it to amplify things that are untested or unproven. So use AI to do those kinds of things. But if you're ever using it as guesswork, or you don't know what you're doing, or for whatever reason, you're actually bad at recruitment, you can't pitch retainers, you don't know how to— close deals, you don't know how to convince candidates and get emotional buy-in from all of the— these are human things that AI is never going to be able to replace. It's a 2-way communication with a person. If you're bad at those things, then it does not make a difference for how well you use AI, because if you're bad at recruitment, you're going to get bad results, because the goal of the business is not to become the most efficient, quickest, and the one that has the ability to contact the most amount of clients and candidates possible. The goal of the business is to make as much money as possible. So if your amplified activities return to you a load of bad results, like people complaining about the things that they like and they don't like about the way that you communicate with them and how often you communicate with them. Please stop. You're going to make it worse. That's everything. Now let me get to him.
