Network Diagnostic Tools

Vivi's network diagnostic tools let you monitor Wi-Fi strength and performance in real time or look back at historical data. The video walks through accessing Wi-Fi statistics, network statistics, and the metrics you need to troubleshoot connection problems across different locations.
Vivi's network diagnostic tools are designed to save time and reduce frustration by assisting in troubleshooting network performance issues. These tools can be used for real time and historical monitoring of the WI FI strength and network performance across your campus at each RIVI location. It should be noted that data in the diagnostic tools will only be available for devices running firmware version 3.5.2 and above, and data will begin being collected from when version 3.5.2 was installed onto the VIVI device. WI FI statistics can be used to check the strength of the signal for any VIVI devices that are currently connecting to the network via WI Fi. To access the WI FI statistics, select Devices in the left hand menu. Any devices currently connected via Wi Fi will show their current signal strength through a green, yellow or red symbol next to their Mac address. Hovering over the symbol will provide more information on the device's current signal strength, including snr the signal to noise ratio signal the strength of the signal from the wireless access point noise any interference currently impacting the signal strength TX rate the speed that data is being transmitted. To view historical data for the device, select the device's Mac address, then in the upper menu select WI FI Stats. The WI Fi Stats page may take a moment to load. This page will show the historical data of the signal strength, the noise strength and the signal to noise ratio. A blue vertical line will indicate that the device has jumped from one access point to another. The data can be sorted and scrolling down will show further information on each data point collected. The network statistics can be used to evaluate each VIVI device's network performance by measuring the speed and content sharing quality to help identify possible network issues. To access network statistics, in the left hand menu, select the dropdown next to Metrics, then select Network Stats. By default, the Network Quality metric will be shown. Different metrics can be viewed including round trip time, packet loss and disconnections. The time window of data to review can be adjusted using the period filter at the top of the page. To see the performance of individual rooms, select the dropdown next to each location. Selecting a room will show the statistics of each stream associated with that specific room. If a device is wirelessly connected, the WI FI statistics can be accessed by selecting the WI FI logo.
