This is a YouTube video titled "Vivi Customer Spotlight: Brighton Grammar School" featuring multiple speakers from Brighton Grammar School discussing their experience implementing the Vivi technology in classrooms. The content highlights how Vivi supports the school's visible learning framework by enabling teachers and students to interact more effectively with classroom technology, improving engagement and feedback. The speakers share insights on the challenges faced, the ease of implementation, and the ongoing product development collaboration. The video was created in November 2017.
The technology journey for Brighton Grammar School has been very much about putting the right technology in the hands of the boys and the staff at the right time. Technology that supports the visible learning framework and the school strategies. We want technology to be an enabler in the classroom, but we don't want it to be the core focus of what we do. The biggest challenge we had in the classrooms was around trying to get every single type of device we had connected using one single solution, and trying to find a way that we could undock the teachers from their desk so they could be at the right place at the right time. We found it quite a challenge to come up with a product that was going to solve all things for all campuses. We found that VIVI was one of the few things we could get to work anywhere, anytime.
At Brighton Grammar School, we have a visible learning framework which is all about seeing the learning through the eyes of the boys. We're always looking for new technologies that will be easy for the staff to use. And VIVI allows us to present to the screen not just in the way that we used to, but also in a more engaging way for the boys to learn.
It provided a solution for all three of our campuses and it also had the bonus of being able to connect our students for the first time to the screens.
VIVI releases the teacher from the front of the classroom, ensuring that the boys are on task all the time and just increasing that accountability in the classroom.
It's also allowing them for the first time to present their work in a meaningful way that allows them to get real time feedback in the classroom.
The implementation of VIVI was quite simple. During our professional learning program, we were able to run some short workshops on training the staff on how to use vivi. And they had no issue in using VIVI in the classroom.
Vivi's been fantastic for me. I use a lot of YouTube clips just to try and demonstrate the real life examples of psychological theories. And I don't have to wait for the buffering. With vivi, those clips are able to be uploaded and play really quickly. Vivi's been really useful to be able to really interact with the boys completing work. I'm not stuck behind the desk at the front of the classroom. I can bring my laptop with me and the boys can annotate assessment questions on my laptop using the stylus pen and then that's played up on the screen. So the boys are getting feedback as they're building learning.
So VIVI was implemented at the start of this year. For me personally, I use it quite a fair bit in English. Whenever we write paragraphs as a class, we can put it up on the screen and share details, share quotes for other students to copy, as well as the teachers when they walk around the classroom. You can see their work up on the big screen as well.
One of the things I've really valued in the relationship we've formed with Vivi. When the product was being developed, a lot of our ideas were listened to, acted on and incorporated into the product. And I've seen that many schools and many customers have clearly been able to offer new suggestions and solutions because the product in every release cycle is getting better and better.
