Amy Ernenwein, director of Professional Development at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, explains how the school uses Vivi for digital signage and live streaming events. During the pandemic, it let them broadcast assemblies and activities to keep families connected when they couldn't gather in person.
My name is Amy Ernenwein. I work at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, North Carolina in the United States. My job is. I'm the director of Professional Development at Cardinal Gibbons and the title is a lot of words. But basically what I do is I do everything I can do to help teachers be the best they can be for students. We are now 100% full integration. We have a VIVI in every room and we now have them in places that aren't just rooms. We have them in social gathering places. But we started in 2018 with one classroom and it was a math classroom. And then we put it in a world languages classroom and then we just slowly rolled it to different classes. What happened was people started talking about how much they loved it. And then not only that, it was so easy to use. The presentation part of VIVI is so easy to use that when it was about adding a layer of just the thumbs up, thumbs down emoji, check ins, it seemed like a simple, easy thing to add because it was already, it already had the perception within our school and the culture of it's just so easy to use. I think that the use of the digital signage feature is going to play multiple roles and this I think is the fun part. I mean, obviously it's going to be informational, which is really important, right, in terms of hygiene and sanitation and just good practice when it comes to caring for our space in a healthy way. However, I can see us doing a lot of positivity messaging and I can see us doing a lot of like, you know, like almost like dad jokes, like just to make people laugh and to make people smile and to say, okay, it doesn't always have to be serious. We are a Catholic school and so we do hold A, almost 2,000 people sized mass in our gym. And you know, you think, oh my gosh, you put that many people in for a mass and gym and we do, and it's amazing. But the likelihood of us being able to manage that, at least for the next upcoming year, is probably not feasible. So being able to live stream that into a classroom I think will be really amazing to kind of create a semblance of shared experience without everybody physically being in that one space. I do think that VIVI is going to serve a really integral purpose in our school because it's so integrated into our learning experience. Its ease of use, its transcendence across device will be very, I think will have a, could potentially have a very large impact.
