This is a YouTube video titled "Vivi Customer Spotlight: Waller Independent School District" featuring interviews with the Waller ISD Chief Information Officer and Joanna Perez, a cosmetology teacher at Waller High School. The content discusses the use of Vivi technology in classrooms to enhance collaboration, teaching flexibility, and student engagement in a fast-growing rural school district near Houston. The video highlights how Vivi supports various educational areas including art, cosmetology, athletics, and general classroom instruction.
Waller ISD is a rural district sitting outside of Houston. We're right at 9,000 kids this year. We've seen that growth. We are a fast growing district. As a chief information officer, we cover many areas. I cover everything from safety and security to every piece of technology that's used in the district. Because we're a fast growing district and our school student body is growing so quickly. Having the ability to bring kids together and then share an experience with another classroom, whether it be the art studio, whether it be our cosmetology area. Being able to share videos, show videos of what's happening for different designs. Our cafe, our cafe bistro that we have for our student body. They're able to put their menus up and show the different techniques and things they use within the classroom, as well as our gym and our athletics area. One of the huge benefits of having a VIVI in every classroom is that collaboration and that versatility, right? It's having a standard. You want teachers to feel comfortable and consistent. No matter what classroom they go into, no matter what school they go into, they want to be able to present their knowledge the same way and have that versatility and have it work.
So my name is Joanna Perez. I am the Waller High School cosmetology teacher. Having BB in the classroom has really helped students, especially in the lab, because I'm able to share videos throughout the entire lab, which gives them visuals to follow along so I can help a student one on one, and they still are able to complete the skill at their own pace. The teacher app, I use the features in bb. The whiteboard, because I'm able to use a whiteboard since I don't have Promethean in the lab. And I am able to either draw or just annotate things that need to be annotated or able to see on the mannequin and obviously the share screen so they can have the videos. What I love the most about using Baby in the classroom again is the flexibility that it gives me to be able to teach and create those visuals throughout the classroom building.
This campus is a huge campus. We knew we were facing challenges. We had OPS modules or tiny PCs on the back of every machine, and that was great. And that did fit the need for quite a while. But once we moved to mobility, once we provided our teachers with laptops, we provided the students with laptops, then all of a sudden that collaboration became something that was powerful. Having the VIVI on the back and being able to share and have that sharing with students and the sharing with teachers or when you bring staff development in or when you bring somebody in instructional coach in and them being able to instruct on the fly makes VIVI just a perfect solution for our need within Waller isd.
