In this opening segment of the Stories of Freedom interview, host Speaker A welcomes Carrie, a former North Central Leadership Team prayer leader from Wisconsin, who is currently recording amid a mid‑March blizzard. The host highlights Carrie’s recent decision to step down from her leadership role due to health concerns and frames the conversation around how Christ has impacted her life, especially in navigating health challenges and past trauma. Carrie briefly acknowledges the invitation, and the host asks her to summarize in a few sentences the core message she hopes listeners will take from her story.

Well, Carrie, welcome to Stories of Freedom. It is a joy to have you join us from Wisconsin where you are experiencing a blizzard here in mid-March as we record. Thank God for warm, dry shelter and for this connection that across the miles allows us to have this conversation. Thank you for being with us and for being willing to share your story with our listeners. You live in Wisconsin. You've been part of our North Central Leadership Team, leading there in prayer until health issues forced you to say, "Hey, I need to step down from that." Part of what you've already started talking about, part of what we will talk about is how you've navigated that and how Christ has made a difference in your life in the midst of all that. So thank you for being with us, Carrie.
I'm glad. Thank you for having me.
So if you were to summarize in, say, 2 or 3 sentences what you hope our audience hears or sees from your life, how might you summarize that?
I guess it would have to be that no matter how hard it is, no matter how dark it is, no matter how deep it is, God is big enough for it and he can redeem it. He can bring light into the darkness. He can bring healing to the wound. He can bring the softest sob to the deepest, rawest pain. He can redeem that. He can bring joy and love and peace, even if you never had it before. He can redeem it and he can bring it in. I know that for me, the childhood abuse left such gaping wounds, just gaping, gaping wounds all my life, all my life. Even now, you know, the wounds of that are so gaping and he can bring healing to that. He can bring redemption to that. He is the God of redemption and He resurrects the dead areas of your life. And I think that no matter who you are, no matter where you are, I think that's a message we need to hear. We always need to hear it. We're never done hearing it because we're never done needing it.
