Steve's father left when he was ten, so he raised his siblings and enlisted in the military at 17. Despite staying disciplined and sober, he felt empty until one night under the stars he prayed, "God, if you're there, you got to show me." What happened next changed everything.
So you come into this marriage, you're 19, you had only ever lived at home, you were overly protected, so you had a lot of fears of things that could potentially happen to you. Steve, on the other hand, uh, dad left at, at 10, he's raising himself, his younger siblings. Was he in the military at that point?
He went into the military when he was 17. Wow. Delayed enlisted. And pretty much was determined he'd never go home. And he was living a typical, you know, kid in the military with all those freedoms and everything. He says the only thing that really kept him from getting into serious trouble was he valued his body. And so he, he didn't drink, he didn't do drugs, which were readily available back then. He was a Vietnam vet. Or he, yeah, he was a Vietnam vet, Vietnam era, right at the end. And he knew that there was something that he was missing. And so he searched, he searched and searched for whatever and tried all kinds of stuff and found nothing. Nothing answered the hole in his heart until he went out laying under the stars and he basically looked up and he goes, God, if you're there, You got to show me.
