This is not a clean and easy process

Two people discuss spiritual growth as a messy, difficult process. They reference Philippians 2:12 to argue that salvation isn't earned through effort alone, but comes from God working within you. Real transformation means remaking your inner pathways, not just cleaning up your behavior.

Why I might not have, you know, if life had been laid out in paragraphs, I might not have picked this one. But having been dealt it, I wouldn't have traded it for anything. Amen. I mean, I would not have traded it. There are some really hard moments that I wouldn't want to repeat, and I'm really glad they're behind me. And I'm hoping there's ones not as difficult in the future. But I've also had like some really wonderful, wonderful highs that, you know, people hear about those and they're just as like, wow, wow, as they are. Like, when you— they hear about the lows and they go, oh, you know. So I love to share those too.
When you were talking a little earlier and, and, and Dan was talking and going through scripture, the scripture that came to my mind was in Philippians, Philippians 2. Paul's talking in 12. He says, dear friends, you have always followed my instructions when I was with you, and now that I'm away, it is even more important "Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him." Now we'll say firstly, it says, I learned the verse 'cause that's how my memory works, right? Like I'm reading from New Living Translation here, but the way I learned it was to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, right? Not work for your salvation. That was a whole previous model that I lived under, right? But there is this sense that what y'all were talking about is this wrestling that we do. This is not a clean and easy process when we're talking about upsetting the rut thinking, laying down new pathways, being transformed. I think the word is transformed. That's a really big word. Like, it's not, you know, it's not like get cleaned up, right? No, you are— the whole thing is transformed, right? That it's different, it is remade, it is different, right?
